What do you think of this, ING Savings?

High interest, no fees, no service charges, no kidding.
With an Orange Savings Account, you earn a variable 2.10% Annual Percentage Yield (effective 06/01/04 ) on savings every day, with a level of flexibility, freedom, and security you simply won't find at other banks. And because your account is FDIC insured, your account is always secure.

No required minimum balances... ever.
There is no minimum balance required to open your Orange Savings Account, and you don't have to keep a specific balance in your account to qualify for a high interest rate. No matter how much you have on deposit, the rate is still 2.10% APY.

No fees. No service charges. No penalties. No hidden costs.
ING DIRECT's Orange Savings Account won't burden you with fees or service charges. Period. So you earn high interest on every penny you deposit.

24-hour access to your funds, and you don't even have to change banks.
An Orange Savings Account makes your money available to you whenever you need it. When you open your account, it is automatically linked to your current checking account used for your initial deposit. You can make deposits or withdraw funds by transferring money online, through our Interactive Phone Service, or by speaking with an ING DIRECT Sales Associate.

Pay Yourself First!
The Automatic Savings Plan allows you to automatically have a fixed amount of money regularly transferred to your high interest Orange Savings from your linked checking account. You will be saving your money effortlessly and will have money for a rainy day or to achieve your dreams. You can either call us or set up your Automatic Savings Plan on this website. You specify how much money you would like transferred, and how often you would like it moved. This is the simple, easy way to really grow your Orange Savings Account.

Start making more money on your savings right now.
You don't have to switch your bank; simply activate your Orange Savings Account today and start earning interest that will actually amount to something. While your APY may change at any time based on market conditions, you are assured high interest with an ING DIRECT Orange Savings Account day after day.

To apply online or download an application, simply click on the "Open an Account" button on this web site and follow the easy instructions. Or you can call 1-800-ING-DIRECT to request an Orange Savings Account Application, which you can complete and return by mail.

Safe and Secure - FDIC Insured

There's a perminant 'sticky' thread on this bank and it's benefits on the Reward board right at the top and you can get to it here

I think it's great and have had an account for months. GREAT way to save for Disney or anything else. Not so easy to spend but easy enough if you really need it.

Friendly reminder/warning: Asking for a referral or saying you have referrals to give (for the bonuses) is against board policy so please handle all that privately (via PM) so ING Bank doesn't get banned again on the board and it's threads don't get deleted.

I love my ing account!!! I am using it to save for our disney trip for next year. Very easy to use!!!!

I love mine too! I started them for the kids as well, and DH has one that gets direct deposit from work. Hmmm, maybe that's not such a good idea, LOL! :)

They also have good CD rates!

I love my IND Direct account too. The interest rate is much better than the rate offered by my regular bank.

I have an ING account as well. I love it! It was especially wonderful when I was saving for my wedding, and now we use it for our Disney trip savings as well as to save for bills due bi-yearly (auto and renters insurance). I love the fact that you can have one account with ING and divide that into differently named accounts so it's easy to see how much you have for each area. In other words, I have one account named "Disney Savings" and one named "My Savings" so I can keep the money seperate, but I only have one ING account. :)

I'm a financial planner and one of the first things I do with a new client is open an Orange Account for them. It's a great service, very easy to use, and obviously the interest is excellent for a savings account.

Good to see someone "in the business" endorse this.

I have been wary because it sounds too good to be true. How can they keep on paying so much for referrals when you only need $1 to open an account? Won't this all collapse at some point? It sounds like a pyramid scheme.

Willing to listen to anyone who can convince me this is safe!

Thanks,

Barbe

They know that the major percentage of new accounts will use their account and save much more than the initial $1 required. They do not have to pay sales reps [tellers] at a bricks and mortor location to get new customers. They are paying their current customers to refer new customers instead --- and it seems to be working quite well for them. Plus they are not handing out the freebies [like toasters, coolers etc] like many banks do to entice people to open new accounts. This is just the way they've chosen to set their 'advertising' funds asside.

This is NOT a pyramid scheme. DH and i also have an Orange account that we are using to save for a house. When we opened it the interest was 2.0% Now, just like the intro says its 2.1%. It is better than most banks.

A pyramid scheme requires you to "invest" a minimum amount of money, and you will never get it back more than likely. An Orange account pays you interest based on whatever amount you put in, its linked to your regular checking account and you can withdraw any amount at any time by transferring it back to your checking account. Just need to give 2-3 days to get the transfer done. In all honesty its just like a regular bank without the branches. it follows all the rules, and does very well.

Open up an account, you'll be glad you did. And if you don't like it you can always opt out. But I opened mine because my best friend has 1 and we both love it.

I like the little guy who gets stuck in the gum. :flower1:

Barbe,

My wife and I opened an account before I began recommending it to my clients. While I do get paid on the business (we're talking pennies) if I didn't, I would still provide the service because it's that good.

As others have said, they can offer referral fees and $25 incentives to open accounts because there aren't any branches, so the overhead is extremely low. Think about it, no buildings with utilities and upkeep, no employees needed to staff each branch, and it never closes.

In addition, people still have the comfort of being connected to their local bank.

I've had this account from the very beginning when it was still paying 6% (That's right folks!) I have to say in all that time, I have never had a complaint about them. When I need customer service they're there.

I work for a bank and while the bank would like their employees to have our bank products, no current bank product out there can touch this account in terms of rate, ease, referral programs, etc.
Even a CD or money market rate can't beat it.

Definitely a good account especially if you're of the mentality of Out of Sight, Out of Mind. When I can't touch the money, the temptation to use it goes away! Perfect for vacation funds.

I love my account too, especially being able to look at it online anytime of day and get quarterly statements by mail too. Very easy to transfer money back and forth.

Very reputable and excellent customer service.

What's funny is yesterday was the first time since I opened the account that I put anything in it.

Not trying to lock the thread, but do the refferals "refresh" themselves after a certain amount of time? I looked at mine and it says I haven't sent any out...though when I first got the account, I did.

SERIOUSLY not trying to get flamed or get this locked!! I just really want to know. Thanks.

If any body needs a referral, PM me. It will give you $25 for opening an account and $10 for me referring you!!

Stepharoonie - they expire in within 30 days, but the great thing is you can just send another one :D
