Infrared heater?

I am looking to purchase one because they don't get hot to the touch and they are suppose to heat well. Do you have one and what do you think?
I don't want to waste money if they don't work well. WE have an outside woodstove that we will use for the first time. We just moved to this old farmhouse. We don't need to use it yet, but it gets REALLY cold in the mornings in the house. So, please give me your advice!!!

I purchased an infrared heater last year and returned it two weeks later when it melted all the electrical down to the box and almost caused a fire. The electrical system needs to be up to date and the heater must be the only thing on that electrical line.

It also did not work any better than any other heater we have had. The faux fireplace ones wall or floor do not get hot on the outside either and that is what is now my preference.

We also live in a old farmhouse and have an outdoor woodstove. We have the heater in a room upstairs that does not have a heat duct in it. I love the fact that it does not get hot to the touch. It is not like a space heater that can tip over and start a fire. We are looking at getting another for when it is cold but not cold enough to start our outdoor wood stove.
Our electric bill was larger when we had the normal space heater but it still is having another item pulling electric so you bill will still be higher. The space heater only heated in front of it. The Eden Pure heats the whole room evenly. The even heat and safety part is more than worth the $ it cost to run it.

We use the Eden Pure as well and we also live in an old farmhouse with an outdoor wood burning furnace. We have two of them, one upstairs and one downstairs. We mainly use them in the spring and fall when it's not worth the trouble of having the main furnace running. They heat very evenly and are cool to the touch (also our main concern) We have had no electrical issues with ours, but our electric is up to date.

We also have an EdenPure and it is cool to the touch, but does keep the room warm. They key is that it helps maintain the heat. It won't bring a 50 degree room to 68 degrees. Thus, when we get to our cottage in the winter time, we turn the thermos stat up and once the living room is warm, we'll turn on the EdenPure. I was amazed at how it keeps the main room warm and how little the furnace runs once we switch the EdenPure on.
