So, I was reading the new protocols Carnival announced yesterday. Not much of a change but I did find it interesting that they first announced new rules for sailings out of Texas at exactly 14-days prior to sailing. Now while we have no idea what Disney will do, it does make me wonder if Disney could also take this to the 14-day wire. If they are first waiting for the test cruise to be approved and a clear to sail certificate, it is possible.
Even at that close of a window, they gave options for people to move or cancel if they were impacted. I suspect that Disney is planning similar, wait till the last possible minute to say anything, but give people the ability to cancel with full refund.
Some notable excerpts from Carnival's rules:
- Un-vaccinated must have a negative PCR COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to the sailing date, Antigen test at embarkation, and testing again within 24 hours of debarkation on all cruises longer than 4 days.
- A US$150, per person charge for testing, including children 2+
- Children under two are exempt from testing and mask wearing requirements.
- No independent sightseeing in ports of call for unvaccinated guests
- Un-vaccinated kids 12+ will not be allowed in teen clubs
- No Camp Ocean (Carnival's kid's club)
I got my "sailing advisory" email with this information from CCL this morning - we're sailing to Alaska in September. We're also being told to look out for a vaccine attestation form that must be completed for each person in our room immediately.
Oh wait, clarification needed- no test at port for vaccinated guests? Does mandatory insurance apply to children under 12 who cannot get vaccinated?
No tests for vaccinated guests that I can see. And per CCL - "Effective with sailings departing July 31, 2021 from Florida, and August 2, 2021 from Texas, guests must also show proof of travel insurance coverage during check-in. This requirement is currently being waived for children under 12 who are ineligible for a vaccine"
