I am totally getting no work done...which is bad because we are going on vacation tomorrow and I have sooo much to do.

Can we set the forum to auto-refresh?

Me three!

I guess it’s good I’m working remotely so no one is around to ask why I keep looking at my phone ….
I am not cruising until November ( or at least I think I am :rolleyes1 )....but my anxiety is high for all of you and I can't get anything done, because I keep refreshing thinking....I just know there will be a thread that says "FINALLY SOME NEWS!"

I wish I were working because I would have no choice but to not stalk my email, the dis, every group, blog, etc...that might have info on it. Maybe I'd be a little less crazy. Being off for the summer is great, but not in this situation. I have too much time to speculate. ;)

A few days ago I contemplated starting a thread called FINALLY SOME NEWS just as a joke, but I thought better of it.

I think I've hit the slapstick silly part of the waiting process. I've already passed shock, denial, anger....

Either that or in the "Shake my Head" part of the process...

Does anyone speculate there will be reduced-rate staterooms made available for the August 9th sailing, to bring capacity up a bit?
I’ll go!
I don’t need to plan a thing! I’ll even re-wash my clothes every night, and buy the essentials onboard if I have to!
Take me, use me… keep on using me, until you use me up!

So, I was reading the new protocols Carnival announced yesterday. Not much of a change but I did find it interesting that they first announced new rules for sailings out of Texas at exactly 14-days prior to sailing. Now while we have no idea what Disney will do, it does make me wonder if Disney could also take this to the 14-day wire. If they are first waiting for the test cruise to be approved and a clear to sail certificate, it is possible.

Even at that close of a window, they gave options for people to move or cancel if they were impacted. I suspect that Disney is planning similar, wait till the last possible minute to say anything, but give people the ability to cancel with full refund.

Some notable excerpts from Carnival's rules:
  • Un-vaccinated must have a negative PCR COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to the sailing date, Antigen test at embarkation, and testing again within 24 hours of debarkation on all cruises longer than 4 days.
  • A US$150, per person charge for testing, including children 2+
  • Children under two are exempt from testing and mask wearing requirements.
  • No independent sightseeing in ports of call for unvaccinated guests
  • Un-vaccinated kids 12+ will not be allowed in teen clubs
  • No Camp Ocean (Carnival's kid's club)

Did it say if any tests prior (in advance or at the port) are required for vaccinated guests?

My Plan B (which started to outweigh Plan A honestly) sold out - not sure what to do at this point. I bought Plan B airfare and one leg is not refundable.

Anyone else to the point of losing sleep? I know I have lost productivity at work for sure with all of the checking and rechecked and checking again.

No tests for vaccinated (as of now that is)

It’s funny how MSC has been sailing for a year and they are not near as restrictive for unvaccinated guests. I guess they’ve had a lot of practice.

That's awful! It should not be like this :( Im afraid to check my plan B and C for fear of selling out or price skyrocketing.

That's good. I have to admit I am concerned about a test at port. Can you imagine making it that far and then being told oh sorry, you tested positive...buh-bye! :headache: Whether its a false positive, or actually having it and being asymptomatic, doesnt matter at that point. Theres no cruise either way. :( And obviously if I did have it I wouldn't want to get on a ship and infect everyone, I would want to do the right thing, but it would still be a crappy situation.

What's worse, if you test positive at the port (or on the cruise), Carnival isn't providing you much assistance. Probably why they now require insurance. I forgot to add these in my earlier post.

Carnival's Policies for testing positive
  • If you traveled by air to join your cruise and test positive at embarkation and are not able to cruise – or test positive during the debark testing for unvaccinated guests – you may be required to quarantine before traveling home.
  • While Carnival will help make quarantine arrangements, all guests are responsible for expenses associated with quarantine.
Also, if your request to go onboard unvaccinated is denied:
  • If we are unable to approve your request, you will have the option to cancel the unvaccinated guest(s) from a reservation, move to a future sailing date or cancel with a full refund to the original form of payment. Unfortunately, we cannot assist with expenses related to a denied exemption request, and guests assume all risks related to non-refundable travel costs (i.e., air fare, hotel).

It’s the best way to prevent Covid on a ship though.

Oh wait, clarification needed- no test at port for vaccinated guests? Does mandatory insurance apply to children under 12 who cannot get vaccinated?

Exactly. We take precautions and do everything to prepare for the cruise...then end up not being allowed to board. :worried:

To clarify, these are Carnival's new policies we were talking about...no Disney protocols have been announced yet.

On Carnival, children are not REQUIRED to have insurance (at this time, language indicates this may change), but are required to pay $150 for testing

  • A US$150, per person, charge will be assessed to the guest’s onboard Sail and Sign account to cover the cost of testing, reporting and health and safety screenings. Children under two are exempt from testing and mask wearing requirements.
  • Effective with sailings departing July 31, 2021 from Florida, and August 2, 2021 from Texas, guests must also show proof of travel insurance coverage during check-in. This requirement is currently being waived for children under 12 who are ineligible for a vaccine. However, parents are advised that purchasing travel insurance for their children is strongly recommended.
