Information from DCL or lack of?

I guess it doesn't really matter as long as they offer refunds. I remember reading through the Carnival and Royal threads on CC when they restarted and it seemed like everything was down to the wire and they kept making changes. I quit following it I"m not sure what the final outcome was as far as refunds.
At this point offering refunds to anyone within 30 days is literally the absolute bare minimum Disney could do. Other cruise lines did offer this when they first came out with their protocols saying anybody who was uncomfortable with them could get a full refund minus any extra FCC they got.

Also when other lines brought it down to the wire they were as open as possible more than 30 days out about what their likely protocols were. People had an early indication of where vaccines and masks would be required months before cruising. The exact rules tweaked ever so slightly as it got closer but the gist of it has remained the same.

For DCL to say nothing at this point is disappointing. Anyone who has airfare booked is in precarious situation. Trying to come up with backup plans is also complicated.

I've gotten more info from Disney on potential hurricane interruptions than they have offered so far on their return to sailing

Thats not how I remember it. They may have communicated, but they kept changing things daily and they are still changing protocols. The threads have been shut down over there so there is no way of looking back anyway.

I’m not trying to defend DCL I think they should say something, but I don’t see the other cruiselines as doing a very good job either. It’s why I’m waiting to cruise. I‘d rather not waste the energy getting angry everyday.

Hopefully we will know more after this weekend.
At this very moment the Disney DREAM is out to sea on their second test/simulation cruise. As we know the first one was postponed due to inconsistent Covid test of some crewmembers. But this is good news anyway! We should hear something by next week about protocols. It’s a two day selling and they will be back into PC on Monday morning, 7/19. So I’m pretty hopeful that the August 9th cruisers will hear something shortly after that as to what the sailing protocols will be.

I think today's court ruling that the Conditional Sailing Order is back in effect is probably the best example of why Disney is saying everything they reasonably can, which isn't much because the situation is still so fluid..

I couldn't disagree more. Everyons knows and understands this is a fluid situation. They could have announced what they want to do with the disclaimer that it is all subject to change. Anyone who defends their unconscionable silence clearly is not booked on a cruise scheduled in the next 2 months. They could have announced a month ago what their plans for their protocols were at that time and people could have decided to cancel and/or move their reservations if they felt the protocols were likely going to be too restrictive...or possibly too lax - depending on what they were. But at least everyone would have an indication how they are leaning.

How were they supposed to know what the protocols were going to be when they didn't know if the CSO was going to stand or not? I'm sure they would like to have less restrictive protocols than they are now going to be required to have. If they would have announced protocols last month they would be changing them this week and either way people would be mad.

I’ve been looking for an update on this but can’t seem to find anything. The CSO will not be expiring tomorrow after all?

What have they said at all?

We're just back to the status quo of a month ago before the judge ruled on the preliminary injunction, so it's not like this is a huge shift. They didn't say anything before the ruling, and they haven't said anything since. Given that Disney continued with the test sailing anyway it seems pretty clear to me that they planned to sail within CDC guidelines regardless of the outcome of the lawsuit. The only charitable explanation I have is that they're still in active negotiations about how things would look on some aspects of the sailing, like the kids clubs which are more extensive on DCL than they are on other lines.

Agree. Also suspect that the UK staycation cruise measures are an informal trial run (with some potential movement depending on guest feedback but I’d expect a lot of it to be the same), allowing them to bring in some revenue but also serving a purpose for seeing how some measures may work in practice over a few months.

I think they were planning on sailing with some of the CDC guidelines, but now they have to follow the CSO which is very restrictive. I'm not sure what's going to happen with the ships that are sailing that didn't do the test cruises. Can they keep averting Florida law and what about kids on cruises?

The CSO used to be very restrictive, but the guidelines are now something that the CEOs of NCL, RCI, and CCL have said are reasonable and workable. NCL even filed a brief in support of the CDC maintaining the CSO. I expect that they'll be a bit more difficult for DCL, but probably not substantially so. All of the ships currently sailing have been following the CSO, and for those currently sailing the work-arounds for the Florida law seem to be working pretty well for those that are choosing the 95% vaccinated route, although it's clear from NCL's lawsuit that they don't want to do the workaround song and dance.

The 95% route prohibits kids. I'm personally hoping they get fined. It's only been 2 weeks and it's probably just a matter of time before there is an outbreak of Covid among vaccinated cruisers. NCL is happy about the 95% rule and they are suing the state of Florida. I haven't seen any indication that NCL has found the CSO reasonable.

They are working on the 95% rules.
