But to play devil's advocate... while you may be ok with that change in the scenario you presented, not everyone would feel it was a good change. I am certain there are some who would say "but you told us it would be 100% vaxxed, and I bought airfare and pre-cruise hotel based on that. I don't want to go on a cruise with unvaxxed, so DCL owes me." As soon as DCL commits in one direction or the other, even if they caveat with "these rules may change," there will be bad press for changing things. From DCL's standpoint, communication is a no-win situation -- communicate too much too soon then make changes, people get mad; communicate too little or too late, people get mad.

That said -- they do need to step up and declare a decision at least for the early/mid-August cruises. Taking those right to 30-40 days out isn't right or good business.
Yes and there are those that arent going to get vaccinated just to cruise. The constant policy changes by some cruiselines is very frustrating. If it wasn’t for my son wanting to cruise I think I’d be done with cruising as a vacation option.

Well, call me crazy. I just booked the Aug 9 cruise today. I picked that as a vacation week back in January. It is the last week our son is home before he heads off to college again, and we have a must-go-to graduation party on Aug 7. It was this week or not go at all. If we sail, we sail. If not, the fcc will go to our 2022 Hawaii cruise. (Unless we're told it can't be used on existing reservations.) Now I am in the stomach-churning roller coaster ride with all of you!!

Enjoy your FCC. Shrewd move!

hope it goes! When our July cruise was canceled we used the FCC for the Wish next summer, then thought we REALLY want to cruise this summer and booked the August 2nd cruise, figured worst case we would get another FCC. It got cancelled so we booked the Aug 16th. The FCC allowed us to get a 1 bedroom concierge suit and a cabana on Casaway. So we are anxiously awaiting.

Not possible for everyone. We booked a GTY rate.
You mean a GT nonrefundable rate? A gty room wouldn't have a different cancellation policy than any other rate.

Though not interchangeable terms, I’m sure they meant an IGT, OGT, or VGT non-refundable pay-now rate. Not just a GTY (Unknown room assignment), with normal payment dates.

Someone in my cruise group pointed out yesterday that DCL is starting to add covid measures to the general website (I.e. does not say just for UK cruises).

We are cruising in early January 2022 aboard the Dream, booked it because we are all fully vaccinated except the grandchildren, and we are hoping vaccines are available for them before then. We just got back from a Disney World trip just after the mask mandates were lifted. We had a wonderful time, even jam packed with everyone else because most of the preshows were operating again and play areas for the grands were open. I wore masks religiously for a year, and got vaccinated so I could resume life as I knew it as much a possible. Not going to debate any Covid statistics here- I am already stressing because I want to know for sure we'll be going in January (our WDW trip was postponed from 2020 to 2021) AND that it will be like our previous Dream Cruise-deck parties, character greetings, Fireworks at sea, etc. I'm contacting my Dreams travel agent today to see what he recommends in light of everything being pushed pack continuously. I can;t imagine what all of you with fall cruises are going through.

I would be curious to hear what your Dreams Travel Agent has to say.

Ugh - that's not appealing at all. We're sailing (hopefully? supposedly?) Jan. 2022 on the Fantasy. I really hope towards the end of the year they start to communicate these policies better and more transparently; and/or resolve them if things continue to get better, the CDC eases restrictions, etc. If you're vaxxed you do NOT need to wear a mask while working out. That's just crazy. What about running on the track? no thanks...

I agree with most people here that DCL has a done bad job of any communication at all. Not even a "we're trying and here's what we know" even if what they know or are planning on is little to nothing. Radio silence = bad; at least trying to communicate with some sincerity= good.

Just feeling frustrated like to so many others here...

There are many cruises scheduled for 2021, so I'm sure that those of you with early 2022 cruises will learn a lot well in advance of your sailings. Those of us with August/September cruises...not so much. I'm hoping we will hear more this week (after the holiday). It's hard to know what to do when you are missing so much information. We are thinking about switching to Celebrity for the fall and hoping that our B2B Christmas cruises on DCL look more "normal". Royal is sailing with less than 95% vaccinated out of FL, so I feel like we are going to learn a bunch more from their early sailings on what will work for family oriented cruises.

I noticed that as well. I wonder if they are for crew, or set aside for quarantine rooms, or just simply sold out?

atleast for our sailing Im 99.9% confident it’s not sold out..

All guests can book activities and Palo
Brunch still has 4 available times & only one tasting is sold out the whole cruise

I’m not sure we’ll learn much from Royal. I doubt many unvaccinated would sail under those conditions.

So Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the seas just came back from their first cruise... On the RC blog they were answering some questions about the experience and one interesting thing stood out...the CEO of Royal was onboard and he hinted that he "was expecting an update from the CDC that would allow a cruise ship with at least 75% vaccinated guests onboard to not require fully vaccinated guests to have to wear masks while indoors."

Now 1) assuming this is true and 2) Disney's back channel conversations include the same information as Royals, I can see Disney wanting to hold off on communicating anything until this becomes public knowledge.

That said they really are running out of time and I will be surprised if we don't hear anything about at least the August sailings in the next 48 hours.
