hey, i'm looking into renting points from a dvc member for our
upcoming trip and would appreciate any info and/or experiences
you've had with this.thanks!!

I rented 156 points for a 2-BR villa at Beach Club for this next Sept/Oct. I was rather nervous handing over my money to a stranger to make my ressie for me. He called in the ressie and gave me confirmation #. I verified ressie and sent him 25%. I still had over $600 deposit @WDTC for 3 rooms at ASMo. I asked for a refund and sent that money to my DVC owner when it arrived (around 2 weeks later). The deal was to pay out the balance by 60 days out of the ressie (end of next month). DH got a pretty good commission this month so I just paid the balance. I did call Member Services to verify ressie once again around a month ago (just to make me feel better.)

I took a risk in that this DVC'er only had a couple of posts on the Rent/Trade board, but I visited his family website and felt much better after that.

We're so looking forward to this vacation. We started out with a value resort and ended up with a first class 2 bedroom deluxe. I would suggest this process to anyone looking to get a great value!! Feel free to PM if you have any other specific questions.

We rented points for the first time in April. It worked out great! :D I know what you mean about being nervous... I was too. The DVC member made the reservation in my name , I sent him a deposit, and then he mailed me the confirmation letter that had his name and membership # printed right under my name. I called and verified the reservation about once a week because I was so scared! ;) We loved our 2 bedroom villa at OKW so much that we are renting points again in October. :D We're renting from a different person this time, but he seems totally nice and trustworthy so I'm not too worried. I say GO FOR IT! :) :) Just make sure you get the DVC members full name, address, and phone number... and verify the reservation. ;)

We're trying it this year, too - rented 66 points for 3 nights at BWV, 1 BR @ $10 pt. end of Aug (weekend nights would have been more expensive). I rented from someone who frequents the boards and when she called me with res # I sent her 50% - when she mailed me the written confirmation, I called and checked it, then sent her the balance - if for some reason the trip must be cancelled, I have 60 days to rebook and use the room. If you find someone you feel comfortable dealing with, it's a great option. Browse the DVC forum for lots of info.
