My son will be 13 months when we go in July. Does Disney, specific Pop Century, allow infants to use a seated floatation device in the pools? If the pool has a lifeguard, you will probably not be able to use that floatation device because they cannot see under it. And it is very big.

I agree. That is too big and it will be hard for them to see your baby.

As the grandmother of this cutie, does any one have a suggestion of something that will allow him to float and be acceptable to the lifeguards. It would be nice if he didn't have to be held the whole time he's in the pool.

I've seen much smaller floating seats for babies at my local target now that they are bringing out the summer stuff. Check your local big box store and I'm sure they have something.

However, in my 10 trips to Disney I personally have never seen a baby in a floaty seat. Maybe they are allowed but Ive never seen them.

Disney is funny about what they will let in the pool. No tubes or floats. I don't know if infant floats count. Only things that strap to you (life vests, arm floaties) and noodles. Nothing that covers the face. They don't want people getting stuck under someone else's float.

Also keep in mind that even if the float seat is allowed, you need to be glued to that baby. There will be other people in the pool splashing around and the baby could very easily get a huge splash in the face, bumped, jostled, or slammed in to the wall. Hopefully people will be respectful of a baby, but we all know how that goes.

In a few years, he'll totally be ready for that kind of independence, but for now, a baby of that age should always be in the arms of an alert and capable adult.

I was a fan of water slings when my kids were babies. It made me a little more comfortable knowing I could have my hands free and not worry about them slipping out of my grasp:

I hadn't thought about the size of it. I'm more interested in the canopy then anything. We certainly don't mind holding him but knowing my little man, he would enjoy it more if he wasn't glued to us.

What have other parents of babies done?

My little one used a floaty seat...no canopy. However of course I used lots of sunscreen, a hat and one of those all in one uv swimsuits. She was fine! Oh and to the person saying they need to be in your arms...why? My LO was 9 months at the time and loved her floaty seat, she was supervised at all times, my 12 month old DS would not thank me for holding him in the water the entire time.

Thank you for your support. It's not like we're going to leave him alone in the water. Did you LO use a floaty seat in a Disney pool?

I do have a long sleeve uv shirt for him and a hat but he tends to pull the hat right off.

Last April our family stayed at CSR. Our baby was about 10 months old. I had a pool floatie for him that I used in the pool that was identical to the one the op has a link to (minus the canopy). I had my hand on the floatie at ALL times when he was in it, we had no problems whatsoever in the pool or from the lifegaurds. He was lovin it!!

This is the exact floatie (in pink) we took last May and youngest DD was 13 months. We stayed at POFQ. I asked lifeguard if we could use it (as I had heard different opinions on the Dis) and he said we were allowed to but without the canopy. We simply put a hat on her while we were in the pool.

My son uses a puddle jumper. It's has a "swimmies" on each arm but also one across his belly it attaches with a clip across the back. I bought it at toys r us. It's great but no canopy. I love it because if the child "is" (but never is) left alone it will always turn him/her onto his back .

I highly highly recommend getting your baby a "puddle jumper". They sell them at Target, amazon, etc. It is like a life vest but is much much better for keeping your kid afloat/getting them acquainted to positions to help them learn to swim (a bit young I know, but down teh road it will still be useful). The life vests they had at WDW pools kept my kids at an upright floating position, but not one where they enjoyed themselves. HTH!

Minimum weight for the puddle jumpers is 30 pounds so that won't work on a 13 month old....

I would just take a float without the canopy and put a hat on him- my daughter used to pull hats off but when they were distracted by being in a pool they forgot about them..
