I am going to go broke from buying jeans soon...haha

At the beginning of september, I bought 3 new pairs of size 12 jeans from Ann Taylor Loft at $59 each. They lasted until about october when I got sick and dropped 15lbs in 2 weeks. I went back and bought 2 pairs in size 10 at the same price.

Problem is, we still have not been able to figure out what is causing me to be sick and lose weight so in the past 8 weeks, while my anti-nausea meds have been working, I have still lost about 5 more lbs and my size 10 jeans are now getting to be too big.

I am going shopping on saturday and was going to go back to teh Loft and just buy 2 more pairs in size 8 but spending another $120 on 2 pairs of jeans is killing me. I absolutely LOVE these jeans and they are the only ones that I ever found that fit me in the hips, thighs and butt without needing to be tailored and they are the only short length jeans that I have found that not need to be hemed (i have short legs and long torso).

Has anyone found really good jeans that are between $20-$30? I am 5'3 and now weight about 135lbs which sits mostly in my hips. I would just love to have some ideas of possible stores instead of spending hours going to into every store trying to find jeans.

Thanks!

Look up Applebottoms. Sometimes you can find them on sale and they are great if you have hips but a slim waist (my body build). I also like Gap Curvy, not sure you can get them for 30, but it's worth trying.

I've lost a good deal of weight (deliberately) and I know what you mean about finding jeans.

I have tried expensive jeans, moderate jeans but my favorite, best fitting jeans are Gloria Vanderbilt jeans at Costco for around $16 per pair. You can't try them on there but if you hate them, take them back. I like the tummy control jeans for a nice fit. The "jeggings" for comfort, (they feel like pajamas) and I didn't spend $$$ on them.

When I was losing weight quickly (medical issues) I had issues with clothes fitting. I waited to buy clothes until i was 2 sizes down and just used belt. It was just too expensive. I found that jeans were pretty baggy but okay enough to wear until they were 2 sizes too big.

I was a poor grad student at the time so buying clothes at each size were killing us (I was losing a size every 2 weeks or so, so it's not like I was going months with baggy clothes)

For inexpensive jeans, I think Levi's are decent and they come in a million styles - I just bought some for $35 at Dillards recently. I also think Old Navy (when on sale for $15!) are decent for the price and I've bought lots at Gap OUtlet. I think Gap stores are outrageously overpriced for the quality.

Ann Taylor Loft is 50% off site wide right now - your jeans would be about $35.

Try old navy, the diva fit work great for me. I also carry my weight in my hips.

I second this. However, I really like the Sweetheart fit in skinny leg. Tons of different styles and fits.. go for it and see what you can find! They're all under $30, and usually you can either find a good coupon through their Facebook page or find a good sale. They're often on sale for only $15 each!

Target brand Merona jeans are $25. They are great. I was tired of hitching low rider jeans up midday and and they solved that issue.

I've found lots of great jeans at places like Goodwill and Savers. People gain and lose weight all the time and donate their stuff, and you can find anything from cheap brands to designer jeans in great shape. I can't remember the last time I spent more than $10 on a great pair of jeans!

I would love to be bale to find nice jeans at goodwill but when I went to ours a few weeks ago, they had no jeans in my size that I would wear. The ones that were my size were straight leg adn high waisted. neither of which look good on me. They had jeans in sizes between 0-4 and 12-16. Very very little of 6,8 and 10s.

Yep :thumbsup2. I used to have a hard time finding Target jeans that were long enough or that fit me well in the waist. But Merona came out a couple of months ago with a new line of jeans with several different leg styles (e.g. bootcut, skinny, trouser), waist fits, and washes. They even come in long and short sizes in the store. I like finally having some jeans that sit higher up on my hips than jeans have for so many years.

Definetely try Old Navy when they have their 15.00 sale. Went Sunday and got 4 pair and they all fit great. I am up and down in my weight to where I dont spend that much on jeans.

I completely understand!!! That is my problem with some jeans also. I am only 21 so many of the styles that I like are low rise. BUT they dont sit right on my hips so they were constantly falling down, etc and I kept having to pull them up all the time. It is so not worth it to wear jeans that you have to constantly be worried are going to show everything.

I want to know who thinks those jeans are really a good idea. When some of these girls on campus bend over or get up from their seat, the combination of low rise jeans and short shirts is a baaaadddd combination. haha

I don't get the extreme low riders either, especially in combination with short shirts.

I bot Riders jeans at Walmart for under $20. I cant remember if it was $12 or $16. Best jeans I ever bot. I am short and tubby and they fit fine. No low riders for me because my butt is too big but I also dont like the look (the plumbers crack is not attractive on anyone).

My sister who is the same height and slimmer bot them too and loves them.

I would give Gap a try for sure, also Target and surprisingly Hollister:scared1:
They have jeans on sale now, I bought a pair of the Laguna style. They fit very nice. Gap seems to have the better sales staff to helpfind what fit suits you . Checkout Gap on face book, read their wall, I bet they might have a sale this weekend. They have bee having lots of sales lately on regular price merchandise that you can only learn about on facebook.

We have a rule in our house, we don't spend over $20 for a pair of jeans. I bought 1 pair of Old Navy jeans on sale for $15 and 1 pair of Lands End from Sears on sale for $16 as an experiment. Both are cut far differently from the Rustler jeans I was buying for $7 a pair at Walmart, much more taylored....they don't slide on as easily, but fit just fine once on. Now we'll see how they hold up. I don't think I've ever worn out a pair of jeans, but my keys usually destroy the pockets.

What about the women in your household, tvguy?
my question exactly. Especially if there is anyone there "Pooh sized", because I cannot even buy jeans at walmart at that pricve. If I want to look like anything other than an over stufdfed sausage or and inverted triangle, it is going to coast me a bit more than $20. MY DH, on the other hand will not wear ANYTHING but the $9 Rustlers. Ther wear out MUCH quicker than name brands. They fon't last a year washing them once a week before they have ruptured somewhere vital. But, at $9 apair, I don't mind replacing them. I have 3 pair of Old Navy Jeans I have had since about 6 months after my 7 year old was boarn that are just now starting to show thier age.

Thank you everyone for your opinions and experiences with jeans.

In the past 2 years I have lost 60lbs. After being on and off prednisone for 3 years and gaining 65lbs on it, I went from 195lbs to 136lbs so I have gone down from size 18 to a size 8/10. Unfortuantely, the excitement of getting down to 136lbs again is being overshadowed by the fact that the most recent 20lbs was completley unintentional. In a way its great, but in a way its not.

Congrats to anyone else here who has had success in their weight loss goals!
