I am traveling to Orlando with my 1 and 3 year olds and without DH. It appears that I could save in the ball park of $200.00 if we fly out the night before cruising.

We need to know where we could stay that is inexpensive AND will provide us with transportation from airport and then back to airport the next morning as we have will be going to port by way of Disney transportation.

And can we get pizza delivery, etc. at virtually all hotels? I need to feed my children. We did stay this last spring at the LaQuinta and from what I can remember, they were walking distance to a TGI Fridays. I wonder if they have a shuttle service.

All airport hotels near MCO provide a courtesy shuttle although the shuttle does not run after midnight for some of the more budget properties.

I have a list of MCO-area properties at my web site...

www.dcltribute.com/lodging/MCO

You could call some of these properties to verify that food delivery or restaurants within walking distance are available.

We always get an MCO-area hotel via Priceline or Hotwire in the neighborhood of $27 to $33, and they have always had free shuttle service. We use Happy Limo to the port, but the shuttle has always been available the next morning if we would have needed it. All have been within walking distance of food except one of the LaQuintas, and they had pizza delivery. You just have to be sure to specify an MCO-area hotel. Your breakfast will probably be included too.

Thanks Barb :)

I'm really thinking now that the Hyatt would be the most convenient and headache-free accomodation for us. And it appears that I can pull the Hyatt off with the savings in flying in on the 30th, instead of the 1st. Now I'm just trying to figure out if there is a way of getting the Hyatt for less than $129. No problem if I can't.

Hi,
Tammy's post states that the Hyatt runs 129.00 per night, but I am seeing 145.00 per night on their site. Is there something I am missing? Thanks!

I guess it depends on when you are going. I have a ressie at the Hyatt for 9/13 and received the Internet Rate of $95 (plus tax).

Be sure to try expedia.com. They often have rates at the Hyatt that beat the rates at Hyatt's web site.

BTW, here's Hyatt's web site...

Well it would seem that Expedia/Travelocity SHOULD save you money, but I'm getting a quote from Expedia for $243.40 (including tax). I am still getting $129 from their own site, and that is a for November 30th.

Ok, thanks for the information, everyone. Ka is right. It looks like the rate depends on time of year. I am looking at March, so the rate is 145.00. Funny, I checked Expedia thru Dave's site and it says "no rooms available on that night".... at the Hyatt. When I go to the Hyatt site, it appears that rooms are available. Because we are going during spring break, the Hyatt will no doubt fill up fast. Maybe that's why Expedia shows no vacancies there. This tells me I better secure a date SOON.

Thanks again for the input. Tammy, I sure do admire you for going it alone with the babies. I hope you have a great time!

Oh spring break would definitively mean for higher prices. And my guess would be that the Hyatt only gives so many reservations to the internet travel agencies, though I don't know that for sure.

Thanks Tina! I am looking forward to the trip, some time with my kids, and I'm meeting an internet friend for the first time there. She actually is a board participant here, but I don't see her around here often. We planned the trip together and have known each other since our 99 pregnancies. I will likely find my time with the kids relaxing, as I am a home provider for a developmentally disabled woman (a 24/7 job) and also provide 34 hours of services to dd man weekly. This in addition to taking care of my kids (I do not have or want child care for my children). My daughter starts part-time pre-school in a couple of weeks. It will make my days a little easier. You can see why I'm looking forward to the trip!

My~Rumbly~Tumbly - whatever you do, book fast. November 30 is the tail end of the Thanksgiving holiday, one of the busiest times of the year in Orlando.

Check out www.hotels.com and www.hoteldiscount.com, too. I have done quite well with them.
