Indy refurb

Hey guys! Mouseplanet.com is showing an Indy refurb on June 1st and 2nd. :confused3

Mouse Planet is usually a great source tool. But I would still go with Disneyland.com as that is the official website. The sound of no Indy referb sounds way better. I think we should all do a happy dance.

I was just on the official Disney site and they show Indy down June 1-3. I knew the 1st and 2nd had been listed, but didn't know about the 3rd. Since our days are June 2nd and 3rd, I guess we're out of luck. :sad1: I honestly am just ready to ditch the whole trip. We normally go to WDW, but were dying to get back and do some of the DL stuff they don't have there. First we scheduled for the 11th and 12th, but switched to avoid the mad rush for the opening of WOC, now the ONE ride everyone in the family was most excited about (even my Disney haters.....) I give up........

Bummer. It seems kind of risky putting that much hope in rides being up during a time that is not high season at DLR. I hope you have a good trip otherwise. :)

I guess I didn't get the memo about June not being high season at DLR. I never dreamed they'd take a major headliner like that offline after Memorial Day with so little notice.

The last half of May and early June is one of the least risky off-season times to visit DLR. That is because most of the major refurbs are complete in preparation for summer.

I think what happened this year is that with Rivers of America down Jan 4 until early May and all of the construction at DCA and several rides down DLR decided to delay some of the more minor refurbs until after Spring Break and., sas much as possible, after ROA was up again. So Matterhorn is down late April, BTMRR late April into mid-May, Splash Mtn late May and now Indy a few days in early June. All getting ready for June 11 which this year appears to be the start of summer high season. They have to take rides down at some poitn for refurb and off-seaon is when they do it.

In general the high season times are discussed in this thread: "What You Should Know About Off-Season at DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=18462889 Post #4 asks:

What is off-season for DL? We were planning on going late April/early May next year, and I don't want to miss any attractions. Thanks!

Not counting weekends or holidays, maximum entertainment and minimal ride refurbs will exist for these dates (to the best of my understanding):

Mid-March to Mid-April
Mid-June to Labor Day
Mid-November to Early January (with some gaps in early December as described in the OP)

Historically summer high season at DLR starts mid-June and lasts until late August and sometimes all the way until Labor Day. You can see this by checking park hours. When DL is 8AM-Midnight on weekdays that is high season. It is almost always 8AM-Midnight on weekends so you have to look past that to weekdays. See "Historical DLR Park Hours, Entertainment and Refurbs" - www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2291124

For example...

Summer 2008 - Summer peak season started on Sat June 14 and ended Sun Aug 24.

Summer 2009 - Summer peak season started on Sat June 13 and ended Sun Aug 23.

I try really hard to prepare anyone I see on this forum for what off-season means and when it happens so they will be as prepared as possible for rides and shows that are down. That is why I have compiled so many tips that get referenced around here including the sticky at the top. I just do not like to see people like you disappointed with DLR. If one is prepared to accept the off-season downsides in order to avoid crowds, and they are fully informed, I feel better that they will have a better experience.

I truly hope you have a great visit to DLR without Indy. :wizard:

We were at DL in early June last year and were disappointed to find out that Peter Pan's Flight was down for refurbishment and not scheduled to be complete until we had departed. Well someone must have sprinkled some pixie dust on the workers for us and the ride re-opened ahead of schedule and we were able to enjoy it before we left. So even though it may be scheduled to be down while you are there, hope springs eternal.

I wrote a new thread to summarize this...

I really appreciate all that you do to try and educate and prepare everyone for DL. :goodvibes To be honest though, I never would have read a thread about offseason at DL because I never would have dreamed that offseason would include time after Memorial Day, the traditional start to the summer season by most standards.

After threatening to just cancel the trip (which everyone here KNEW would never happen....) we opted AGAIN to change our days. (I've lost track of how many times we've done this and its driving me nuts........)

I guess part of it is that we typically do WDW where they post this stuff WAY further out. I was as upset about the short notice of this closure as I was about the closure itself. Short notice works if you live close by and can just catch it on the next trip. That could be years for us.

Thanks again for being there as a great resource for all of us DL idiots.

You are right about everything. I wrote this new thread with you in mind:

I will always think of it as the "mom2rtk" thread. :)

I'm honored! :rotfl:

On the up side..... I was so ticked at having to reschedule the whole thing that I changed our booking to the Grand Californian. I wanted a consolation prize for having to change yet AGAIN. If I have to change again, they'll have to let us have Walt's apartment for the night......
