The last half of May and early June is one of the least risky off-season times to visit DLR. That is because most of the major refurbs are complete in preparation for summer.
I think what happened this year is that with Rivers of America down Jan 4 until early May and all of the construction at DCA and several rides down DLR decided to delay some of the more minor refurbs until after Spring Break and., sas much as possible, after ROA was up again. So Matterhorn is down late April, BTMRR late April into mid-May, Splash Mtn late May and now Indy a few days in early June. All getting ready for June 11 which this year appears to be the start of summer high season. They have to take rides down at some poitn for refurb and off-seaon is when they do it.
In general the high season times are discussed in this thread: "What You Should Know About Off-Season at DLR"

Historically summer high season at DLR starts mid-June and lasts until late August and sometimes all the way until Labor Day. You can see this by checking park hours. When DL is 8AM-Midnight on weekdays that is high season. It is almost always 8AM-Midnight on weekends so you have to look past that to weekdays. See "Historical DLR Park Hours, Entertainment and Refurbs" -

For example...
Summer 2008 - Summer peak season started on Sat June 14 and ended Sun Aug 24.
Summer 2009 - Summer peak season started on Sat June 13 and ended Sun Aug 23.
I try really hard to prepare anyone I see on this forum for what off-season means and when it happens so they will be as prepared as possible for rides and shows that are down. That is why I have compiled so many tips that get referenced around here including the sticky at the top. I just do not like to see people like you disappointed with DLR. If one is prepared to accept the off-season downsides in order to avoid crowds, and they are fully informed, I feel better that they will have a better experience.
I truly hope you have a great visit to DLR without Indy.
