For those who are going soon, thought I'd mention that it is being reported on other sites that Indy has been down for most of the week this week, and they eventually decided to just close it early for it's annual refurb.

There is no mention of how long it will take, but the electrical system that powers the cars needs to be completely replaced. So, it could take a while.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. :sad1:

When it goes down for its annual refurb...any idea how long on avg that lasts? Thinking of a trip 2nd week in Dec. and thats probably my fave ride.

That's awful. I was really hoping to ride it next week. I wanted my mom to go on it too since it isn't too scary. I had a feeling that was the case. I hope they get it back up and running, but it is doubtful.

Oh no...A complete electrical overhaul could take quite a long while.

We're leaving for DL 4 wks from today. Hope it's up and running by then cause I got quite a few in my group who would be really disappointed if Indy isn't running while we're there. :sad1:

It wouldn't affect me much cause I usually can only handle Indy once...it jerks me around too much and I always end up with a sore neck or back.

I checked the Disneyland calendar and it's not on there at all as being down. I'll call Disneyland today and check for sure because that is one of my favorite rides and I sure would hate to miss it!

It's not going to be on the DL Calendar because it just happened, and the CMs at guest services will probably have no clue about it. This is being reported by people who have visited the parks this week, and then have spoken to people in management about the extensiveness of the refurb.

Here's a link to the post on Mouseplanet reporting it:

Just went over to Miceage, and the thread talked about a major accident. No one was hurt, but now they probably need to investigate, and fix the track.

This could take a lot longer than we think!!!!!!!!!!!:sad2:

Bummer!!!!

Well that is a BIG bummer!

Oh well, Indy is one of my favorite rides, but I'd rather have the ride functioning properly and safely than someone getting hurt on a malfunctioning ride. We'll have to catch Indy on our next trip. Our youngest DS might be tall enough to ride it then too.:thumbsup2

I wonder what in the heck is going on at TSI though? I sure hope it's open when we get there. We really wanted to check it out, and our boys (8 & 4) were kinda excited about the pirates. Hmmmmm? I guess we'll find out when we get there.popcorn::

 Guess I'll prepare the family for some disappointing news.

If there's going to be an investigation...Indy could be down for months...especially if it's any kind of government agency doing the investigating. :lmao:

Look how long it's taken Knott's to get the Log ride open again. :headache:

ACKKK!!! I'm going to have to break the news to my son. He was planning on going on it for the first time next month. His older sister has been talking NON-STOP about this ride since February, when she went on it a total of 16 times in 6 days:eek: He was really looking forward to it, but will adapt quickly if its not open. He also plans on going on several others for the first time, so this is just a minor set back. Besides it gives me the perfect arguement to come back in a few months....

Well nevermind. When I just informed my 5 year old that Indy may be closed next month, he just looked at me and said "thats ok Mama, we'll be at Disneyland so I don't care". At 5 years old, he gets the magic of Disney better than many of us adults!

::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Yep, we can confirm that it was down all week when we were there. My DH asked the CM outside the ride why and they said Indy was on vacation. Okay. LOL It was a major bummer for us!

naw, the last i heard, Indy is on a crazy trip with a film crew following him... :)

I just tried to make a post and lost the whole thing! Darn computers.

We arrived last Sunday the 7th, and Indy was up and running when we first got there, with a huge line. We decided to come back later. When we went back to check on it, they had it "temporarily closed" and the CM said it should be up sometime that day. We decided to wait until Monday to ride it.

By the time we got to Indy on Monday it was closed. We went to talk to the CM at the board on Main St. and she said that it was closed for rehab and they were not expecting it to open for "quite a while".

We didn't get to ride it, but that's ok, we will do it next time! Great reason to go back.

However, I didn't know that Pirate Island would be closed, and it was! I didn't notice it open the entire time we were there. It may have been open the first couple days, but it was definitely closed on Wed. when we tried to go over there. Not sure how long that was going to last!

I think theyre doing something to the fort on TSI to make it fit in with the new pirates lair theme. I'd say that's why it's closed...
