Indy 500 - Buddy Rice takes the Borg Warner trophy!!

Yeah, hope everyone is home safe from the storms. Tornado warning 1 1/2 hours from here and in an area where my wife's relative live. I hate storms.

Epcotgal8. Thought the interview with Tony Kanaan during the delay was great. Another class guy. I don't know. IRL does not market in this area. A minor league hockey team brought in a Nextel Cup Car and a driver who doesn't win (Can't even remember that name) and they sell out the place. The local "Quaker Steak and Lube" has a replica of the M&Ms car in front. The last time I saw an IRL car on display was at the Childrens Museum in Indy. Not a big fan of the Georges.

Watched a little of the middle of the Indy 500 and the last 50 laps of the Coca Cola 600. There is no comparison. Open wheel racing is a blast to watch on tv. Best in car cameras, best racing, cars manuever better. Yet, I bet the Nextel Cup race will draw higher ratings. As for the IRL, I'll try to catch the Kentucky race, since the local media plays that venue up a bit.

Grew up loving the Indy cars. Bobby Rahal set up shop an hour away in Columbus, Ohio. I am glad that his team won. Letterman looked genuine, he'll be a great owner.

A job interviewing drivers? I envy that. I'm sure you had the best seats in the house. Goodnight.

I'm happy for Buddy Rice and the Rahal/Letterman team. It's a bit ironic because my favorite driver who I know well was actually offered that ride when Kenny Brack got hurt. (Very gald to see Kenny back on his feet because his accident at Texas last year was horrid). He decided to stay in CART (it's called OWRS now - Open Wheel Racing Series but it will always be CART to me!) and is part owner of a team as well as a driver. Kenny Brack's seat (that Buddy has right now) was meant to be a temporary thing until Kenny can drive again which is why Jimmy (Vasser) decided to turn it down. I know he must be a bit bummed right now since they obviously had a great car. I'm glad they had a safe race - that incident with Greg Ray, Darren Manning, and Sam Hornish and them ending up in the pits could have been BAD if the crews were out ready for pitstops. I get to stand behind the wall in the pits where the crews jump over but they are strict about making sure everyone is out of pit lane itself 30 minutes prior to the race. Now I see why! It is a very fun job and being right there with the teams is so much fun. Unfortunately, it doesn't pay much more than to cover travel expenses and I am married with 3 children so I can't go to near as many races as I'd like but it is fun when I can go and I've gotten to meet a lot of neat people. I got to meet Joe Montana who has always been a hero of mine. I bet you go to Mid-Ohio. I have friends who love it there. Both that and the Cleveland races are on my "must do" list. I like ovals, but I like the mixture of ovals, road, and street courses. Have a great Memorial Day!
