Indianapolis Festival 500 Half - May 8th, 2010

Ditch her. (Sorry, mom :guilty:) Start with us in S!

Jackie

I second this!!!! I'm pretty sure Mom will be wearing a WISH shirt (which she just verified through text). I'll be in a weird purplish color tank top and black and gold shorts. Look for the two of us together. We'll probably be bickering playfully. But you definitely need to start with us so I can finally meet my Indy buddy....in INDY!!!

Terri-thanks for the input. Still need to run by CVS and pick some up.

9 DAYS!!!!!!! SINGLE DIGIT DANCE!!!!!!

:cool1::banana::yay::dance3::cheer2:

I'll probably be wearing something boring like a gray t-shirt and my black running skirt. I will have much of my left leg covered in pink KT tape. :lmao:

The corrals aren't too huge, so I'm sure I'll find you.

Corral X, 4485. Wonder if I'll start the same day as the rest of you?

You'll probably PASS half of us before we get to the track, knowing you! :thumbsup2

Let's see - purplish tank top, black & gold shorts, flourescent yellow WISH shirt, pink KT tape.... the rest of corral S may move far, far away. :rotfl2: Poor DH - oh, he usually wears an orange shirt too. There's absolutely no way you can miss us!

Karen - You and John should be able to find the multi-colored pack with no problem!

I just ran an absolutely terrible half marathon. It was so humid out here and I just couldn't breathe. I can't say that I'm looking forward to running another half in a week, but I am glad I get another shot at breaking my PR because I wasn't even near it today!

Sorry your race didn't go well. I know you were counting on this one to be the good one! I've been watching the forecast, and it looks like it's not supposed to be too hot next Saturday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe we can push through together and all end up with a good time!

Jackie

It really wasn't that warm, but the humidity was over 90%. I think that because it was cool, I wasn't worried enough about hydration. This race doesn't have as many water stops as Disney and they don't offer gaterade at most of the stops. If I had been properly prepared, I would have carried some gaterade with me and I would have been fine. Oh well, lesson learned.

Are you planning to run 2/walk 1? I'm trying to decide what I want to do. I think I could keep that up until the speedway, but after that I might need to go to 1/1 until the end.

Even though I won't be running, this thread caught my eye since I'm an Indy resident^_^ Good luck everyone!!~<3

Thanks. DH and I had so much fun doing the race in 2008 that we are repeating a state. Keeping my fingers crossed for great weather!

I've been doing R3/W1, but when DD/SoccerDog and I ran a couple of weeks ago, R2/W1 really worked well for her, so we agreed to do that for Indy. Of course, anything could change on race day. She hasn't run in real heat or humidity, and even though the forecast doesn't look bad yet, we could still get humidity and need to drop to R1/W1 too.

I usually start hydrating really heavily a couple of days before a race, but it's always hard to remember to drink when it's not warm. And yeah, each race is another lesson learned!

Jackie

I'm hydrating now!!! I told Jessie to constantly make me drink water. Thank goodness for Crystal Light lemonade mixes.

But yeah, as Mom said we've been doing R2/W1 because of my ankle, but I suffer no delusions of keeping that up the entire race. Be really awesome if I could, but I operate off of the "set the bar low-ish, be surprised when you pass it" mentality.

I did not receive a postcard. Darn mail. But anyway, I'm in S. The excitement builds! I'm really looking forward to having a mini WISH meet.

I have a wardrobe update - I'll be wearing my new Illinois marathon shirt. It is purplish blue color.

I'm excited to finally meet some WISH folks!

We will definitely need to take a picture of all our colorful selves. We can title it "the WISH Skittles of corral S." :rotfl:

Is anyone else totally psyched about the race!!! Maybe I'm just excited because it's the first time I'll ever be in that part of the country, and it's the racing capital of the U.S. (I don't care what anyone else says, NASCAR doesn't count), and I'm doing my first half-marathon!!!!!!! :yay:

Yeah I have no idea where that energy came from. Wait, could be the chocolate pop-tarts and Gatorade I'm having for breakfast.

5 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!

Can any of the Indy locals tell us if the construction is still blocking part of the start line area? That created quite the bottleneck last year. Just curious if we should expect that again this year.

Thanks Frank for the Google directions and for organizing us for dinner. Can't wait!

I've just got to gather whatever I'm wearing now. Weather checking daily.
