We last stayed at the HI Harbourside in 2002.
The pool is zero entry on the one end, and it is very shallow at that end of the pool. The pirate ship is very nice, and it has a small slide. My daughter went down that slide so much, she wore out the seat of her bathing suit! She loved it, she was about 2 years old.
The other end of the pool is very large, It is a free-form shape, and it goes deeper as you get away from the shallow end. It is a really nice pool area with many lounge chairs. Also, there is a pool bar right there for cocktails and pop.
There is also another pool, which is nice too, its a plain rectangle shaped pool, but there is a nice hot tub there. Both pools require ID for use, which is nice because there were people trying to get in to the pool, and were turned away.
The beach is very very nice, and is about a 3-5 minute walk down a nice residential type street. There is a public beach access path that you use to get down to the beach. It's not a far walk at all, even with a cooler and "beach stuff" in tow.
Also, kids eat for free off of the child menu, at the restaurant in the Holiday Inn. They have good food, but slow service.
The hotel is very clean, and very nice. We will definetly be staying there again.
