Independence Day

Sorry if this isn't the best forum, I couldn't find a "general planning" one.

Anyway, I'm planning to be at WDW (staying in a Disney hotel) at the start of July. Including, of course, Independence Day.

Now I could go to the parks so see some manufactured, fake, Disney-style Americana (nothing wrong with that). I could go to the water parks, but they'll probably be very busy since it's a public holiday.

I'd love to find some more genuine Americana. Is there any place locally where there would be street parades, parties, that kind of thing? Or does everyone just stay at home or spend the day at WDW?

Thanks,
/alan

Hi! Our family will be at WDW at the same time. I don't have an answer for you, but we're going to spend the 4th at Blizzard Beach and bring sparklers with us for the evening.

Sounds like fun - though I'm not entirely convinced that hand-held fireworks and bathing suits are a good mixture! (Maybe sparklers are different in the US from the UK)

Sorry for the mis-understanding. The water parks usually close at 7pm when it's still daylight. I will Pop Century and ask if it's ok to light sparklers and if it's ok, we will do the sparklers there. I'm not worried about the bathing suit part because we're usually in our bathing suits at home when we do sparklers.

That sounds wonderful. Our fireworks day is "Guy Fawkes Night" on 05-Nov. It's normally raining, cold, windy and pretty miserable. Your versino sounds much nicer :)
