Doing my research.

Is it me or did Universal go way up in their prices from 2006 to 2009?
Its now $99 for 2 day park hopper (if you buy online). I don't recall paying this steep price for our 2 day visit back in 2006. I thought it was between $50-$60.

Rethinking this and perhaps heading to Busch Gardens. There price is only $59 for 2 days. A $200 savings for my family of 5.

Thoughts?

everything has gone up in the last 3 years.

even disney has gone up.

$80 for a one day ticket for that park.

why buy a 2 day ticket for the same price you can buy a 7 day 2 park pass?

Yes... I see that too... for our "destination travelers" who only have a week of vacation it kinds of makes you choose 1 park or the other. I use to like to sample the smaller parks and then hit WDW for a good stretch.

IMO the prices will be comming down soon.We are in a reccession and the crowd levels are down. Its about the peak season for the parks and if crowds dont swarm the parks you will see some great deals comming from all of them real soon.Just my opinion of coarse!!

OK - I won't rush out any buy pre-advance tickets right now then. Got a great Disney deal though.

busch gardens has a great deal going on.
it's a fab place for a day trip.

i booked my disney package for only 8 nights this year before i move over to universal for 6 more.

disney is slowly pushing my time back there.
the hotels are too expensive. the ticket prices increased again this year from last year. even buying thru underground tourist, it still is increased.

i booked a value.
on a package, the room is not discounted.
$117.20 night for a value resort.

it is just not worth it anymore to me.
i can get a better deal off site for the next trip there.

if you are interested in a universal stay, there are many good places off site and the packages for the off site hotels are not bad.

let's hope that tickets go down for all the parks soon....

This made me giggle.:rotfl: Calling it Underground instead of Undercover makes it sound kind of seedy. :lmao:

The prices might have been $89 then but a $10 increase is well within reason during that time period. Universal is definitely one of the best values you can find anywhere for 2 parks.

I agree with you and the deals they run on the resort hotels are great too cause we do the same trip every year and it costs us a little over $3000.00 and thats adding in food and when my father- in law took us in 2005 it cost him almost $8000.00 and the only thing we do different is we don't rent a car and we try to stay onsite

Thats a big savings... If your family enjoys thrill rides I would say its a good alternative. I personally have not been there in about 8 years but I used to love Busch Gardens. Looking over the prices I am going to include it in my vacation this year, its worth it imo. I dont think you will be cheating your family by going the cheaper route here assuming the rides at Busch interest you.

This would be nice. Considering how much money the stuff inside the parks cost you would think it would make sense to do whatever it takes to get ppl through the door. Not sure it will happen but one can hope. :)

I believe in 2007 I got my 7day 2 park online pass from Universal for something like $74.99.

Sorry Donald but I have to disagree...I can't ever see Universal or Disney reduce ticket prices. They may have more deals like the 4/3 deal but I really don't think they will decrease ticket prices. If anything...the ticket prices will continue to increase.

I like the way you think. At least buying tickets at US/IOA I feel like I get a discount. Being an AP holder there are always specials and even a regular discount on multi-day tickets. As a Disney AP holder, there are never discounts for mutli-day tickets if we want to bring friends and family....that's why we don't invite anyone..:scared1:

Last year we bought 50% off tickets as an AP holder for Universal and brought friends and family with us twice. We are hoping for the same type of deal for August when we are bringing family and friends of family to Universal. We are only going to be at the parks for TWO days, so the week tickets doesn't really help us. We are hoping for a discount on the 2 day 2 park tickets.

I agree with Metro West. Most company policies are, instead of dropping prices to attract more customers, increase prices to get more money from the current customer base. Hopefully, Universal will be different, but that is the business trend most companies use.

The tickets we got in 2006 were 5 days total. The deal was I think buy 2 days and get 3 free or the other way around. Anyway, definitely 5 days total. Can't remember that far back, but pretty sure the deal was between 80 and 100.

I think Universal's ticket discount this year was giving out all those free tickets with the Super Bowl promotion. I would not expect any discounts on tickets this year - maybe not next year either, depending on when HP opens.

Sometime last year, I finally removed the Universal room keys that I'd acquired over the past few years from my AP lanyard! I think there were a total of 4 room keys. Of course, I've stored them away in a junk drawer.
