Incorrect Magical Express tags

Sorry, not sure if I should post here or on Transportation. We are scheduled for a trip in mid July. We originally booked POR, but, last week, I booked Wilderness Lodge with AP code. I received our Magical Express papers in the mail today and the tags are for POR. I called the Magical Express number and the man said he had made the changes in their computer, and all I needed to do was mark through POR on the tag and write in "Wilderness Lodge". He said it will be correct on the computer scan and get to the right place. Has anyone had experience with this? Should I be worried about not getting new tags? Also, in past years, Magical Express papers have come together with resort papers, searacer vouchers, etc. Are they mailed separate now? Thanks so much for your advice.

We are staying at the VWL in July and our tags say MK. If it were me (and I admit, I am ANAL), I would call back and ask them to send corrected tags, you have plenty of time to receive them.

I have changed resorts and used the first tags and have had no problems with getting my luggage. If you are worried and there is still time before you leave then call and ask for new tags, but as I said I was fine.
For as long as I have used Magical Express, and I've used it since it started, the ME tags have always come separately from my resort papers. The only time everything came together was when I booked a trip through AAA and I think that they held the ME tags until my other paperwork came in and then they just sent all the paperwork together.

ME uses the barcode, not the words written on the tags. The barcode should have your correct resort information.

It's suggested that you take a pen (I think a Sharpie or other permanent marker would be preferable) and cross out the POR on the tag and write in WL, just to prevent possible mixups.

The advice you were given is on the money.

I had incorrect tags once and were sent knew ones. I'm sure crossing out with a Sharpie would be fine but if it were me, I would worry about it from now until I saw my luggage in my room so you might want to see if they can send you new ones.

Your current tags are fine. No one looks at the wording..they scan the barcode. You can cross off the POR, write WL in, be careful not to mess with that barcode though. You can also cross off the DTD and replace it with MK. If it makes you feel any better, call DME and double check to be sure they have the correct info. You can also see if they will send new tags, but you don't really need them.

Same thing happened to us, had to cross out and write in, and I had no problem at all. Enjoy your trip!

We also had to cross out the name and write in the correct resort. No problem!!!

Just to reiterate ....

The barcode gets scanned. The barcode is a computerized version of your reservation number. As long as you had the same reservation number before as you do now, then there's no reason for new tags. The tag will be scanned and your bags will be routed to wherever the Disney database says your reservation is at. So you're just fine.

DME is still a free service. There isn't any reason to demand new tags. Disney already told the OP new tags aren't needed and several posters in this thread confirmed this.

Well, your tags say VWL is one form or another. DME tags have the name of the resort, as well as the 2-letter "zone" code.

The "MK" you see inside the Mickey head at the top of the tag means that your resort is in the MK zone; this is used to assist with luggage sorting. DME has 4 zones:

MK (Magic Kingdom area resorts) -- Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge, Villas at WL.

EC (Epcot area resorts) --Beach Club, BC Villas, Yacht Club, YC Villas, BoardWalk Inn, BWI Villas, Caribbean Beach Resort.

AK (Animal Kingdom area resorts) -- Animal Kingdom Lodge, AK Villas, Coronado Springs Resort, Pop Century, each of the 3 All-Star resorts.

DD (Downtown Disney area resorts) -- Port Orleans French Quarter, Port Orleans Riverside, Old Key West, Saratoga Springs Resort, Fort Wilderness Campground.

I just marked through mine and things went fine. The luggage went exactly where it was suppose to go.

I had already received my DME tags prior to adding a day to my reservation, arriving a day early. I called to ask if DME needed to send me new yellow luggage tags since the arrival date was different. The CM I spoke with stated the same thing you are reading on this thread. DME scans the barcode on the yellow tags, which contains all the current information about your reservation and where to send your luggage. So no worries.

I honestly can't imagine the baggage handlers for DME actually visually "reading" every one of those tags.

These were all such helpful and reassuring replies. Thank you. Since so many have been fine marking through the resort, I will do the same thing and not worry about it. Thanks again for helping.:)

Thank You for posting the zones ...We were wondering the same thing! Do the busses go to the resorts in any order to drop people off?

I have read that the bus driver gets to choose the most logical order for him or her on each trip. So the order is whatever the driver wants it to be.

There is no order and depending on the time of day, the zones are not the same, I got in very late on a trip in September, the bus went to 4 resorts and one was mine SSR and another was the Beach Club.

Generally speaking, during the normal operating hours (8-7ish) the buses have more or less 'set' routes. For instance....the bus to POP will usually stop at POP first, then head to CSR then on to AKL. BW? It will go to YC, BC, BW, CBR..usually. But, if you arrive later at night, the buses tend to head to more resorts, that are more spread out, so it will take you longer to get where you need to go.
