Hi we are going to WDW in August and have the DDP included. Can you help me with a question regarding what is included in the DDP. With a TS meal can you order vegetable as a side to go with an entree?

I knew this would happen. I have looked at the menus but they are not conclusive.

Entree/Main Course

10-oz New York Strip - Served with onion rings, and red wine butter. - $22.99
10-oz Top Sirloin - Served with onion rings, and red wine butter. - $19.99
Angus Chuck Blue Cheeseburger - Served on an Onion Bun with French Fries. All burgers prepared well done unless otherwise specified. - $10.99
Caesar Salad - Made with chicken. - $12.99
Classic Reuben Sandwich - Served with French fries. - $9.99
Prime Rib Cheese Steak Sandwich - Served on a Sub roll with peppers, onions, Swiss cheese, and French fries. - $12.99
Salmon BLT - Served on olive sourdough bread with garlic mayo and arugula. - $13.99
Shrimp Penne Pasta - Tossed with pancetta, onion, tomatoes, and garlic. With chicken $15.99 or as a vegetarian entree $13.49 - $16.99
Turkey Club Sandwich - Served on Multigrain bread with homemade potato chips. - $9.99

I cant be the only person who would like more than just onion rings with my steak? IS there anyone who has done the DDP who can give me help?

Most TS dinner entrées include some kind of vegetable and potato, the same as cash guests. The internet menus are unofficial. THAT SAID

They menu you posted sounds like either a lunch menu or a CS menu.
Sandwiches, entrée salads and burgers don't generally include vegetable as a side or combo. I don't think pasta dishes generally include a vegetable.

Andy, that looks like Concourse Steakhouse lunch maybe? Anyway, I think something like you are asking will only be answered by your server. The answer will vary restaurant to restaurant and even server to server. In general, servers at WDW are great about substituting.....fries for onion rings, veggie instead of starch etc. But adding something additional is less likely and I think experiences will vary.

But don't forget if it is TS, you get an appetizer as well. Perhaps the server will substitute a vegetable for the appetizer?

Wow tell me where I can get a New York Strip for a CS Credit:laughing:

Yes lunch at the concourse but I would have though it normal to get fries or baked potato with a steak?

You can get a rib eye steak at the Pepper Market (CSR) for a CS credit.

My guess is the NY Strip steak comes with some kind of potato and vegetable but you asked a general question.

The menu you posted includes 5 sandwiches (including the burger) an entrée salad and a pasta dish. I wouldn't expect any of those 7 entrées would include a side dish.

JMO but the NYStrip steak is about the only menu item that looks like it's worth a TS credit.

I would think most servers at WDW would happily switch the onion rings for french fries. As for baked potatoes, since there are none on the lunch menu I wouldn't expect to be able to get one.....unless you wanted to wait for an hour while one baked.;)

To answer your original question, if there is no vegetable listed and you want one (in addition to the side your meal already comes with) then you would have to pay extra.

Many of the "steakhouses" such as Concourse, Yachtsman, and Le Cellier do not include a vegetable (other than potato) with their steaks.

However, I know that both the Kona Cafe and the Coral Reef do include vegetables along with the potatoes.

If it is not listed, it's extra.

And BTW, onion rings are a vegetable (at least partly - which is how it is easy to justify them on vacation).

A couple of times at the TS (LeCellier and Concourse), I wanted a veggie side and asked for it. I told them upfront that I was willing to pay for it, but they both just smiled and told me that they would ring it up under the DDP.

THAT kind of service is why I give an extra tip. :goodvibes

I admit that I tend to choose my restaurants according to history of side combinations. However, I have also had a fair bit of success substituting different sides (i.e. something meant to go with a different dish). It is case by case though.

Generally, there is at least one appetizer that is a good vegetable dish. If you want to eat it at the same time as your steak you could probably just ask them to hold off until they could serve them together.

As for picky teenagers & the DDP you're best bet would be to ask them what they'd eat in advance. If you're up to the overplanning angle you could pre-plan your meals and calculate costs.
