Inching My Way Closer to the Castle Final thoughts/future trips 4/2p90 The End 4/4p92

Just wanted to let you know that I'm still here. Just had to get caught up. As always, fabulous pictures!

You almost had me fooled into thinking you had gotten a crappy view. It was freakin' fantastic!

More great MK pics! Everything is so colorful and pretty! Love the Halloween decorations!

What an amazing view at BLT! :cool1: I'd love to try parasailing someday, but I'm afraid to do it in WDW with all the alligators!

Wow, just wow. Love the last pics from MK-especially the ballon one. And the views from BLT-awesome!! I really want to stay there. May try in the spring. I bet I know what you do next :)

Your BLT view is like the one we had in December only higher! I think we were on the 6th floor. It was a lake view, and we looked to the left and saw the castle too.

I figured we had pretty similar room locations. I think the 9th floor was a great height. I think Jen wanted to be up higher, but I thought it was great. I loved, loved, loved that view. Every time we entered the room I went straight to the sliders and out on the balcony.

I really like all the Halloween decorations. I may now have to plan a trip for October 2011!!

The halloween decorations are so fun and festive. And the party decorations are amazing.

All I can say is.....you ladies really know how to take WONDERFUL, AWESOME, BEAUTIFUL, GREAT pictures! :worship::worship::worship:

Thanks! We really enjoy tacking pictures so there will be plenty more.

It was such a perfect view! I loved every minute of that view. Where are you staying on your girls trip?

Never knew about the even/odd number thing for rooms at BLT! You had a great view of MK!! I've stayed there twice...love it!!! Maybe next time I'll ask for an "even" number room! :rotfl:

The theory is if you book a lakeview room then you should request an even number because you will likely get a combo lake and MK view (which is exactly what we got)

A

Maybe next time I'll ask for an "even" number room! :rotfl:
Love the food at Contempo Cafe!! Especially those cupcakes! The word "cupcake" does not do it justice!!! :goodvibes

You are so right. It's like a personal size cake. So darn good!

OMG- both your photos...:worship: :worship: There are some really great ones from both of you.

Thanks! It really helped that we were both obsessed with taking pictures. It allowed us to really concentrate and not have to rush.

Glad you finally got to BLT- I hope I can book a 2BDRM there this Thursday morning- although I did call today to check checking in 7 mos from today, and they said there was lots of availability. Still nervous, though, because of the impending computer enhancement...:scared1:

I was nervous when I called for BCV, so I know how you feel. But at least they told you there was good availability. When I called ahead of time (for another reason - I forget what) the CM wouldn't tell me anything.

I will keep my fingers crossed for good room karma!

The rooms are smaller there- kind of like hotel rooms in NYC. But the convenience rocks!!

You are so right. That's a good analogy because what the room lacked in size it made up for with view and convenience.

So now, I forget- what's the difference between BLT even and odd #'s? Do you remember which have the laundry room? (You would think I would know being that I stayed in a laundry room one bedroom last November, but I guess I'm not all that bright after all!) :rotfl:

From what I understand when you have a lake view room and its an even number, you are likely to get an MK view as well as the lake view.

I really don't know anything about the laundry rooms. I know I would love to see a 1BR.

Fabulous updates ladies! That lunch at Contempo Cafe looks yummy!

Lunch was really good. I enjoyed it more than if we had eaten at MK because it was bright and airy in there. Plus it wasn't crowded.

What a view from your room! WOW!! I'm very impressed!! The lower floors on the MK side of the building are standard view, not sure about the lake side. I request an even numbered room on the north side of the building for the lake view portion of out stay next week! I won't be unhappy if we don't get it because it doesn't really seem that there is a bad view in the bunch! I won't mind being able to see WL!

That view was so great. I hope you get a fab view, too! It was perfect!

I figured all those lower floors must be a standard view. After staying there I don't think I would be happy with a standard view. That view made all the difference!

Anyway, MaryEllen, the poster I was talking about...

Those trees aren't there anymore! They can't be because if they are I'm a lot less observant then I think I am! LOL! I'm also pretty sure that in the picture I was talking about with my sister and I when we were kids the trees are fuller and more shading Main Street! I'll pull it out over Thanksgiving when we're at my mom's ;)

OMG Melissa. Thanks so much! :worship::worship::worship: That poster is gorgeous and those lights on the tree look so beautiful. You are right. Those trees aren't there anymore. I love the way they frame the castle. I love it! It's perfect!

Just my contacts and bathing suits!!! I am scared to forget either one!! I can't pack until I leave Ziggy at my parents the night before I leave...he doesn't bode well with the idea of his mama leaving without him ;)

Poor Ziggy. I know even my cats know what a suitcase means!

Mary Ellen and Jen.......What a fabulous view.....ME you sent me the picture on my phone but that didn't do it justice...AT ALL!!! :woohoo:
Also love the picture of Mickey with his eyes closed.....looks like he is coughing

I know - that view is fabulous! I'm sure the phone picture was crappy compared to the real thing (especially with the zoom lens). It was such a great location.

I can't wait to walk around with you taking pictures of everything...I am going to need a press pass to be with the paparazzi!! :rotfl2:
:rotfl: Oh yeah - if only you could get us some press passes - How about some back stage passes? :rotfl:

I packed most of my stuff yesterday when the kids were outside playing with DH! Of course, I also have to pack up all the stuff for the kids to go stay with Grandma! I also have to make sure MIL has everything else she needs! Going away without the kids is more work then going away with the kids! ;)

This is so true! Packing up kids who are going to school is really a lot of work. There is so much to forget! You have got to be so super psyched!!! Are the kids bummed?

Just wanted to let you know that I'm still here. Just had to get caught up. As always, fabulous pictures!

Glad you got caught up. I'm also glad you like the pictures!

You almost had me fooled into thinking you had gotten a crappy view. It was freakin' fantastic!

Really? I tricked you? I guess I'm doing my TR job then!

It WAS freakin' fantastic! Loved it!

More great MK pics! Everything is so colorful and pretty! Love the Halloween decorations!

I think the Halloween pictures make everything so colorful. They really excentuate the beauty of the MK. I seriously love those decorations as much (if not more) than the Christmas decorations.

Wow, just wow. Love the last pics from MK-especially the ballon one. And the views from BLT-awesome!! I really want to stay there. May try in the spring. I bet I know what you do next :)

Thanks. I'm so glad you like the pictures from MK.

And, yes, the BLT views were amazing. You should go for it. Its so a cool location.

What I do next is pretty predictable, I will admit.

Mary Ellen - I hereby appoint you the official photographer of the May girls getaway. Fantastic pictures!

I love seeing MK in its fall finery. I think I like it better than the Christmas decorations. I am positively giddy that less than 48 hours from now I will be seeing it for myself! :woohoo:

Wowza what a view from your room. Awesome!!

OMG Melissa. Thanks so much! :worship::worship::worship: That poster is gorgeous and those lights on the tree look so beautiful. You are right. Those trees aren't there anymore. I love the way they frame the castle. I love it! It's perfect!

Isn't it beautiful!? When I saw my Mom's picture I thought how beautifully it added to the castle!

This is so true! Packing up kids who are going to school is really a lot of work. There is so much to forget! You have got to be so super psyched!!! Are the kids bummed?

I've been making a list of everything and making sure I have extra of everything! I think I have everything under control! My biggest concern at this point is that DD has her first book report due the day after we come home. She has to do a kind of outline report and a little project. I wanted her to be done before we leave so MIL didn't have to worry about it but I don't think that's going to happen! She's been procrastinating and it's driving me nuts!

I am super psyched! I think DH is too! He's been really busy with work and I think he needs a break! The kids are kind of funny about it! DD couldn't really careless! She's happy to go to Grandma's, especially because Grandma spoils them and is a lot more lenient ;) DS7 isn't upset that we're going to WDW without him but he doesn't want me to go away! He is happy with the idea of us coming home with new legos though! DS3 is not at all happy with the idea of me leaving him! He keeps telling me "I don't want you to go away! No Mommy! No go away!" He's going to be the tough one! Both boys are really attached to me! I think it will be good for them to be without me for little bit!

What amazing views you had from your room!! WOOT WOOT!!! I'm not sure I could ever be convinced to parasail, but if I were to do it, it would be at Disney!!!!!!

Your pictures are just phenomenal! I can't wait to see more!!

Mary Ellen - I hereby appoint you the official photographer of the May girls getaway. Fantastic pictures!

I officially accept! I would love to be the group photographer!

I love seeing MK in its fall finery. I think I like it better than the Christmas decorations. I am positively giddy that less than 48 hours from now I will be seeing it for myself! :woohoo:

I'm so excited for you! I know you are going to have a fantastic time! I hope you do a TR because I really enjoyed last years TR. Your private entrance is waiting.

I am excited because I booked my flights and I got my DVC confirmation today!!!!

Wowza what a view from your room. Awesome!!

It was wonderful!!!!!! Truly loved that view!

Isn't it beautiful!? When I saw my Mom's picture I thought how beautifully it added to the castle!

Uggghhhh! That kind of stuff drives me nuts too. Is it possible for her to get it done this weekend before you go? I guess the main thing is you don't stress about it and that may mean letting it get done on her time line.

I am super psyched! I think DH is too! He's been really busy with work and I think he needs a break! The kids are kind of funny about it! DD couldn't really careless! That's so typical. DD could care less cause she's the big boss now at grandma's, but the boys are saying "don't go mommy". Ahhhh - enjoy it now because when their teenagers you'll be saying "don't go".

What amazing views you had from your room!! WOOT WOOT!!! I'm not sure I could ever be convinced to parasail, but if I were to do it, it would be at Disney!!!!!!

The view was soooooo amazing. It totally exceeded my expectations. And I agree - if I am going to parasail then Disney is totally the place to do it! :thumbsup2

I can't believe how sharp the focus is on your pictures. You are making me lust after a new camera.

I don't envy your problems with your son. It will get better, sometimes you just have to let them go on their own. It's amazing how smart that you become in their eyes after they have to brave the world alone.

YES! I have BLT room pictures! Somehow I did not get a shot from the door into the room. So let's jump into this.

Our room number!
9-10_WDW_84.jpg

9-10_WDW_83.jpg

The bathroom is on the left as soon as you walk in.

9-10_WDW_82.jpg

Is it my imagination, or does the shadow cast by the overhead light on the the shelf remind you of something... think about it and get back to me.

Here is something odd. The bathroom sink isn't in the bathroom.
9-10_WDW_81.jpg

It's in the kitchen
9-10_WDW_80.jpg

I'm not sure what the point of that is. Can someone explain to me why it's a good idea to have the bathroom sink/vanity across from the kitchenette? Someone blow drying their hair in the same place I prepare my coffee is not appealing.

Moving on! Past that is the main living area.

I somehow didn't get a picture of the little table and chairs with the mirror hanging above it. But the view; the view was amazing!

What I thought would bother me most about these rooms was that they wouldn't be square. Since the building is warped (ok, curved) the room is like a pie wedge. The entry is small and it opens up as you get to the balcony; which is HUGE! It wasn't noticeable in the studio so I wasn't too bothered by it. Other than the bathroom vanity/kitchen conglomeration and the small size of the studio, my last complaint would be the quality of the furniture. SSR is decked out in Thomasville furniture and this felt like Ikea. There were a few other 'eh' things about this room, but some are being fixed (according to Disney Files) and others will be explained later.

Having said all that - it was fabulous to be at BLT and WDW! You could put me in a cardboard box and as long as it was on WDW property I would be perfectly happy!

Like MEK, in my spare room-time I often found myself out on the balcony watching the vultures.

I have more vulture pics to include later (they were everywhere!)

Oh what a GREAT view you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to have to steal some of your pictures for Halloween wallpaper, gorgeous! The clarity is...

Sigh.

I agree, Mary Ellen is the official May photographer. And :cool1: for flights and confirmations!!!!!!!!! I need to book my return flight.

The room does look a bit...claustrophobic??????????

I can't believe how sharp the focus is on your pictures. You are making me lust after a new camera.

I love this camera. I have had it about 12 months and have taken about 10,000 pictures to date. Digital photography is so accessible to anyone and that's whats so cool about it.

I don't envy your problems with your son. It will get better, sometimes you just have to let them go on their own. It's amazing how smart that you become in their eyes after they have to brave the world alone.

From time to time there are glimers that he gets it. Other times - NOT! It's such a work in progress.

Oh Jen - I knew you would come through with some good room pics! :worship: Thank you! They are perfect! And I kept forgetting that our room number started with 7, since we were on the 9th floor. 7906. But I was right about the last number.

Oh what a GREAT view you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was absolutely perfect! :thumbsup2

Steal away! And I would love to be the official May photographer. :goodvibes

The room does look a bit...claustrophobic??????????

The room was small. Smaller than the rooms at the value resorts. The balcony was huge, but the room was really too small IMHO. And the layout was weird and all wrong. But the view. Oh that view!

What an awesome view from your room! For some reason, I want to stay at BLT now!

:rotfl: I would not recommend that room for all 4 of you - too small. But for just you and Charles - perfect!

What a gorgeous view!

BLT (or the CR) is #1 on Dale's wish list. The decor is more modern than my taste but the view and being able to walk to the MK would be wonderful! :)

The view was fabulous and the walk to the MK got shorter with each trip. Plus I loved being on the monorail and visiting the neighboring resorts. My favorite thing, of course, was running on the path to the MK in the early morning hours. I only wish I could describe how pretty it was to watch the sunrise come up over the lake.

Well - I think I know where you are staying next trip! lol! I think you guys would love it, but the furniture was not my taste either and as Jen said - it was too Ikea-ish for me.

We really enjoy tacking pictures so there will be plenty more.It was such a perfect view! I loved every minute of that view. Where are you staying on your girls trip?

We'll be staying at AKL---Kidani villa. Never been there & I can't wait!! :yay:

OMG - You will love it! Stayed there in June 09 in a 2BR and it was gorgeous!!!!!!! I like the AKL/kidani theming better than any of the other DVC resorts! Seriously - it just really appeals to me. I loved the furniture, the bedding, the bathrooms, and all the details. Plus there is beautiful artwork all over the place in the lobby and on the walls outside of Sanaa (which, by the way, is awesome).

Look at my siggie and you will see a link to Kickin Back at Kidani. I took a ton of pictures of the resort!

The room does look a bit...claustrophobic??????????

Take a look at the "night stand" between the bed and the couch.
9-10_WDW_79.jpg

There was enough room for the hotel phone, a pen, and the little pad of paper they give you. Once I plugged my phone charger in beneath it and put my phone up there, there was NO room for anything else! And the couch was completely flush with the "night stand"; MEK could have reached over and tapped me in the bed to tell me to stop snoring if she wanted to, and never left the couch!

There is no way 4 people could stay in this room. Especially with that galley vanity/kitchenette arrangement. That would be a nightmare. From what I read in my Disney Files magazine, they are going to be fixing some of that. Putting the bathroom vanity/sink *in* the bathromm (there's a novel concept), fixing the gap in the goofy sliding bathroom door, and adding a lock to it. Not that it needs a lock because good luck getting the thing open to begin with; it's rather particular about which direction you pull. I kept telling Mary Ellen I would like to see a 1 bedroom at BLT but all you have to do is stand on the walkway and look into the rooms because there are no sheers on these rooms. That's right, no sheers; DH would not do well with that, I'm sure he'd be unintenionally streaking in front of the MK every day.
