As far as the locations of the Hard Rock Cafes go, it looks like the Key West location is the furthest from the port - a total of maybe 3 blocks!

From what it looks like, the Cozumel and Grand Cayman locations are within spittin' distance (read "1-2 blocks") of the port.

Hello Lisa - yep I am right here if it has to do with Key West - the Hard Rock Cafe is located not too far from the ship's docking - it is at 313 Duval Street - same side as Sloppy Joe's Bar (sure can't miss that land mark as busy as it is) pass Greene Street and its in that block - it was once the Elk's Club for the Key West Citizens and also where they held dances for us teens - they have really done a beautiful job when they restored it - next to it is the Women's Club - no you aren't too far but if you have babies - you do need strollers - the conch train is a excellent choice - it will give you insight to the way it was --very interesting and if they tell you a story about "Robert" doll who was suppose to be a ghost - believe me that didn't happen - if they do tell you about the doctor that fell in love with a young girl who died of TB and then stole her body - yep that did happen - my mom was around for that and I was allowed to see Elena after she was recovered years later - I sincerely believe the Key West Cementary is a unique place - sits in the middle of Key West with wild saying on headstones - but that was conchs - I really hope you enjoy your visit and hope someone will post their experience once home and relaxed.

CMATT: Just off the phone with the Hyatt in Grand Cayman 1-345-949-1234. The have the boat (ferry to Rum Point), you arrange the trip with their concierge upon arrival in GC. Currently the cost is KYM12 which is about $15.39 round trip per person. The ferry leaves the front of the hotel (water side ) every hour on the hour. There is Red Sail Sports at Rum Point and they will have rental fins, flippers and masks available for a small price (she did not say how much) they also have food and drinks available at the Point.

You might also want to investigate the Tortuga Club and the Royal Reef. They're right next to one another, on the northeast corner of the island, which gets you well away from the crowds. The beach there isn't quite as pretty as at Rum Point, but it's bigger, and offers better snorkeling.

I generally consider a beach's worth by the water it leads to, and as I noted, I think the snorkeling is better off the Tortuga Club. The beach itself is certainly a lot longer, and more open at the Tortuga Club, but I really like the Australian Pines at Rum Point, which is why I think the beach itself is a bit prettier there. If I was designing my perfect beach it would probably be a bigger Rum Point, with better snorkeling (and a wall that was easy to swim to), and no development. The snorkeling at Rum Point can be fairly good, although there is perhaps a limited area that is good. I've done a very pleasant night dive there, reaching a max depth of 8 feet. There is usually a current flowing from the east if you go out past the little point in front of the Retreat. Depending on your comfort level, that's either inconvenient or a good reason to walk some distance east and drift back while you snorkel.

If this is not acceptable, remember most beaches on Seven Mile Island are private property at least down to about 10 feet above the high water mark. Public beaches get very crowded. Need to see which other ships will be in Georgetown that day to estimate the crowds.

CMatt: for $49.00 x 4 I am renting a car again, do what I want and where I go yadayada. Much cheaper and dont have to wait for the crowds. Good roads, good directions drive on left and be back on baord early, I have Jeep rental about $50.00 Avis. Then you can drive over to rum point in 45 minutes and see the island on your own.
