Hi everyone!
I'm running the F&W and this will be my first race EVER!!! I never thought I would run a race and I'm getting really excited for this trip!
I had ankle surgery in December and was still not feeling great in March

when I saw my surgeon for the final visit. I asked about starting aerobic activity and he said NO, nothing for the next calendar year

except some light walking.
Well..my girlfriend calls in April and asks How would I like to run the relay in October? and, I who has NEVER liked running and was told I should not run said "The race is at Disney!, Sure! I'll do anything for Mickey Mouse"

(with the back up plan that my running partner may need to run the whole race if for some reason (ankle) was not going to hold up)
So, first thing I did was start weight watchers! I thought there was no way I was going to start running at my current wt.

Two months later (June) I started training for the race.
I'm now down 40+ pounds

and the training is going OK...My longest run yet is 3.8 miles..well more of a walk/run..I'm doing the couch to 10K program
My ankle feels good, some swelling, but nothing bad and virtually pain free! I found some great running shoes that have shock absorbers in the heel that help with the jarring from the road.
I can't wait for the race! I'll for sure be looking out for all of you in your dis Green!! Wish I had found this thread sooner so I could have gotten one of the cool race shirts....
See you all there!
