Inaugural Disney Wine&Dine**1/2 Marathon** Post Race Discussion!

We officially have accommodations at the Beach Club, with ADRs at Chefs De France the night before the race, and Cape May the morning after. Phew!

We're staying at Beach Club and eating at Cape May Sunday morning too. Maybe we'll see you there!

Is the afterparty in world showcase? Think we will be able to leave through the international gateway to walk back to our hotel?

Any idea what the medal is gonna look like?

I hope so, because that's what we planned on doing. Although, I think BC is one of the host resorts, so you could get a bus to BC and walk to any of the EPCOT resorts.

We are on wait list for BCV...I think I better call and make sure the wait list hasn't been 'lost'.

I know the party will be in the WS because we're getting a taste and a sip when registering for the half-relay. Not sure about the IG, but I would imagine you would be able to leave that way.

I am DYING to know what the medal looks like. Seriously there are some days when that keeps me running! And I wish they'd post some better graphics for the race - the Wine & Dine one out is so plain. :confused3

Yes, I see no reason you couldn't walk back to the Boardwalk area after the race.

As for the medal, I have not seen anything yet. Someone asked about the 5K medallion and what I hypothesized there is also true here. Disney Endurance goes to some of the marathon expos around the country and in the past you were able to get sneak peaks of inaugural medals before the event at some of these. Worst case I think the expo the day before will have them as they often give them to the companies selling the bib/photo/medal plaques so they have an example.

I am doing the Indy half next month (along with some WISHers) so I will see if it is there. If not the best bet is either a Rock N Roll series event or the DL half in Sept.

I finally did it... I am all signed up and ready to do this!! (although I have a lot of training before that)

this will be my first half-marathon.. some days when I get up and out to run I think to myself, "what did I get myself into."

:yay:Congratulations!! How exciting! :yay:

I say that to myself often. That saying doesn't change, you just say it at different miles the further into your training ;).

Is the race route posted anywhere? :confused3 I've tried googling but keep getting the run around on several other websites.

I did a 4 mile run yesterday after work and I was hating myself for it. Over the summer I am going to have to force myself to do more longer runs in the afternoon and evening so that I am ready for this race!

You can do it!

That is very helpful! Thanks! I just wanted a vague idea so I could imagine it in my head :)

I keep getting a blank page the past two days I've tried to go to the race website so I didn't know if it was on there.

I imagine the course too when training. I was just imagining Mickey & Goofy on the course through AK! It kept me going when I was getting tired.

:goodvibes I watched this video and even though it's not the actual race it still makes me excited!! I can't wait to experience a WDW half! (although it may lead to me making (short) trips to WDW in January and March next year ).

So if I am just now trained enough to do a 5k, is it realistic for a slightly overweight Mommy to train to do the full half? I've been planning on doing the half relay. My head is just spinning thinking of 13 miles. I want to die at 3 miles now.
