Inaugural Disney Wine&Dine**1/2 Marathon** Post Race Discussion!

Does anyone have any ideas about when we might be getting our waivers? DH and I are leaving on Thursday as we are taking a short cruise prior to arriving at WDW on the 30th. We'd really like to have them before we leave so we don't have to hunt for a printer on property.

In the past, we've forgotten our waivers at home and it was no issue, they let you fill one out when you get to the expo - you just might have to wait in an extra line or something. So don't stress too much about it, and don't spend money/time at a business center, unless you really want to for your own peace of mind!

You will spend less time filling out the waiver at the expo than finding and using the business center + plus save a couple bucks

I am glad this was brought up, I am leaving on the 27th, so if I havent seen it by then I can just wait until the expo I guess...though I really hate waiting last minute, but oh well!! I am getting SO excited and very nervous all at the same time!

Big news: I officially have crazy nerves about Philly RnR on Sunday. I am SO glad I'm getting my first half out of the way this weekend, so I can enjoy myself in Orlando in 13 days!!!

You're going to do great! Have fun with it and enjoy the day!
Can't wait to hear how it goes.

I guess our biggest issue is that we have friends that registered and due to a death in the family, are not going to be able to go. We were going to pick up their packets for them, and Disney said that in addition to a copy of their photo ID's, we would need a copy of their signed waiver.

I just called up to ask a few questions (I really wish I wasnt so worked up about how to get around and I regret not getting a room at a hotel with transportation lol) I am staying at POP and the man I spoke with told me that I cannot take a cab straight to WWoS, dont know why I was thinking I just could. He told me instead to take a cab or get to EPCOT or to a host hotel and go from there. Also he said that my spectator will have to double check to see if a cab will be able to get to EPCOT later that evening to drop them off for the party :confused3 He said driving instructions would be up "soon".

Also he said they were trying to mail the waivers out by mid next week, which will do me no good. He said I can fill one out at the expo though.

Ummmm.... why can't we take a cab to WWOS??? It has its own address.

Even for the expo on Friday, I wonder??

I don't know. It seems kind of unreasonable, given that they've threatened to not let you take the resort bus if you're not staying at the host resort, and many people won't have cars with them.

I mean I take what they say over the phone with a grain of salt, because it only seems half right lol. But the man I spoke to said that on the day of the race (I specificed that evening and did not ask about the expo) he said they wouldnt be letting cars in there, only the disney transportation. He also told me that they wouldnt know I wasnt staying at the particular host resort if I grabbed a bus at one. Someone else may want to call or see what they put in writing as a follow up of course...

I dont want to stir anything up...because they have been wrong before when it comes to me calling about the wine and dine half (prob. cause its new).

This must not be a real issue if they are suggesting people take a cab to a host resort to catch a bus.

I really wish it was cost effective for them to just run buses from all the resorts.

ugh, this kind of stuff drives me crazy. Why couldn't you take a cab to WWoS race night? Unless they are restricting traffic to strictly their buses. Why take a cab to Epcot though when you can take regular resort buses to the park? Unless maybe the WWoS bus area is entirely separate from the regular bus stops.

Come on Disney - make it easy on your customers for pete's sake!!

Here is my take on it (it is just an educated guess):

You will be able to take a cab to the WWoS for the expo no problem but on race day only Disney transportation will be allowed in for logistical reasons. What I would do for the start is either get to a host resort and take the bus, get to Epcot and take the bus, of take a cab to the entrance of WWos and get out there. You'll just have to walk down the entrance road to the start area. Since I would get there about 2 hours early anyways you have plenty of time and that can count as part of your warm up.

I'm not the coach, but if you've already got your 13 miler in, you're WAY good. Do the 5k if you'd rather.

Agreed! Have fun this weekend. But remember to get the 6-8-miler in next weekend.

I am running a 10k instead of my long run this weekend myself.

Thanks Amy & Coach C! I decided to do my long run tonight instead of the race tomorrow. I'm glad I did as I had a good time (for me) on the 9.25 miles I did. I felt like I finished strong which was good! I was afraid if I blew off my long run this week something might happen and I wouldn't get my long run in next week.

The only thing I'm dealing with is a blister on the tip of the toe next to my big toe. I have tried moleskin and bandaid for blisters. Tonight I finally had to pop the blister as I was afraid my toe nail might come off. It started a couple of weeks ago on my 11.5 mile run. Thought it was getting better but tonight it was starting to bother me by mile 3. Oh well, if that is the biggest "ouch" I have to deal with, I'll be happy.

Thanks to everyone who has posted questions, suggestions, tips, etc. Although I haven't posted a lot, I have read everything with interest and have learned a lot along the way. I really appreciate everyone being so helpful!

Good idea about the warm up :thumbsup2 I guess I need to stop trying to plan ahead and wing it the closer it gets, because the details aren't really out there yet and I maybe need to stop trying to plan so hard :rotfl: Also I dont want people to be discouraged..maybe the guy I talked to was incorrect on his details?? I hate to get people all worried if its not needed!

I am just excited to get there and I am sure it will be a ton of fun :goodvibes I am also able to check in starting today for my trip, which means it is very close!! :cutie:

Packing my gear...hoping I make it through on Sunday! Philly Rock n' Roll - felt confident and excited on Tuesday. Haven't done a long run in what feels like forever. Struggled with a short run last night, decided to turn around, and went home. Hope I still "got it" come Sunday!

Here are my emotions in a nutshell:
:confused::thumbsup2:eek::woohoo::sad2::scared1::

But most of all :upsidedow

So I did my first 9.1 mile walk today...and at a 13 minute pace...I am so excited...I did my GU 1/2 prior to walk and another at lap 5 (ea lap is 1.3 miles)...was hydrated and felt great all the way through!

All this is so new to me...and I am really enjoying the training and so looking forward to the event!

You can do this but look on the website…Disney has a friend pick up form that is new this race. I would have them fill this form out. Here is the link

Look at the race course. The only way into the start IS the race course. At best Disney will have one side of Victory open into the WWoS complex. The parking lot will be the staging area and the busses will be using the overflow area. Logistically there is not enough real estate to but an unlimited amount of vehicles into the WWoS area. I see no reason you could not get dropped at the intersection of Osceola and Victory and walk the partial mile back into the WWoS complex; unless the SD or SP are controlling that stretch of roadway and not allowing vehicles to stop and let folks off or not allowing folks to walk along that stretch of roadway. Take a cab and have them drop your there and if they get waived on then have him divert to Epcot. For me the safe play is to take a Disney bus from the non-host resort to Epcot and then catch a race bus to the start. Remeber 8 pm will be dark by then!

We all should remember that the busses STOP running at 8:15. So any plans to go to the WWoS should keep that in mind.

As far as expo day, you can take a cab to the WWoS. There is other business in the facilities that would require others to have access, also.

Gee, I really want to say thank you for the feedback and glad that you have found a great trainer. Unfortunately, there are way too many in the profession who are either out of touch with their client or just too dis-interested in their client goals. I am so glad that I could be of some help.

And yes, no alcohol!
you are so welcome...you are a tremendous asset to many on this thread...thank you so much for all that you share! I do hope to meet you and thank you in person!
