We finally got our 10 miler in today and it was not fun. I am feeling a little discouraged right now. I am finding it hard to get out the door in the first place, and once I am there it is harder than it was for a while. My pace has slowed and and I'm just not enjoying running like I had been. Anyone else been there? How did you get through?
You are down here in Houston if i remember. The weather sux. We had that really nice couple of weekends with drier weather and most runners really loved that. The last 2-3 weekends have been oppressive again. Run a 10k this morning and the weather (and bridge) forced my into walk mode a couple times.
Otherwise it is normal human emotion to grow weary of any long project and training for a race is really just a 2-4 month project. Hang in there. You are ready for the race. Tapering next weekend with a shorter run will re-energize you brain and body making the week coming into W&D exciting again.
Race night will bring a new level of excitement. Even if you were not well trained, the excitement of the race makes up for a lot.
You have now entered your taper and should enjoy the next two weeks.
