GOOD MORNING LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, BOYS AND GIRLS! YOU SET SAIL IN 58 WEEKS! THAT IS 406 DAYS!

 Another Saturday morning update.:yay:
DH is thinking of doing the May 15 triathlon at Disney before the IronMan in July in Austria. Thought I would try to sneak in a cruise after the May race, but the ships are all booked. Oh well, still trying to figure out how to get in another cruise before 406 days. Our NYE cruise was cancelled because my boss was not impressed that I was taking the 3rd year in a row off between Christmas and NY's.

Just a quick post to let everyone know that we are now confirmed for a private tour of the Fantasy at 9 AM on Sept 2, 2011. We will stay the night before in Papenburg.

John and I are so excited!!

That's great! I loved the day we spent with Captain Tom onboard the Dream in Papenburg last June. It was a Dream come true! I wanted to be in Papenburg so bad when the Dream floated out. Maybe for the Fantasy......

You have me thinking about going to Papenburg. We will be in Klagenfurt, Austria for an Ironman race on July 3. I am planning our travels from July 4 - 12. We have talked about going to a resort and putting up our feet (my DH will be a little tired) for a few days, going to Salzberg, or just tour around Vienna. Papenburg is about 12 hrs from Klagenfurt. We could travel up through Salzberg to Frankenfurt and then Papenburg and then on back to Vienna. Hmmm, will have to do more research. Is it really worth the trip?

John and I think it will be a once in a lifetime trip to see a DCL ship being built. If you are interested, I can pass my contact information at Papenburg tourism along to you via PM. We are taking a private tour in English, but there may also be group tours in English during the summer months.

I am going to try to pin down my husband to talk about our touring on Monday. Please PM the information. Now I am getting excited about our summer trip with the thought that I may get a bit of my disney fix.

I sent you a copy of the email correspondence I have had with the Papenburg tourism office in your PM box.

Welcome aboard!! We are Noel and John. The MV will be our 6th DCL cruise.

How is the weather there in PA? My DGD Aspen and I are planning a college trip in March. PA is one of our stops on the tour. I am not fond of driving in snow so hope weather will warm up by mid March
.

Anyone think there will be enough teens onboard for a teens-only list / private site ( pre-trip emails, etc.)?

Lori [Jel0511] has offered to start a FB group for just the kids once a few more with FB access join. Going over the list there are 3 in the Vibes group and 13 in the Edge. Different groups would be needed for those. The teens can probably start emailing now though.

Fantastic - I think this trip may fall into spring break for a lot of families, so I think there might be more young ones around.

The DD likes to hookup with others ahead of time....

We have never cruised during a school break and there have always been tons of kids onboard. I was told by the director of attendance at the school board that the educational experience the kids have had on the cruises we have been on is something they cannot teach in the classroom...this was when I was talking to her about what DD's standing would be after missing three weeks for the WBTA with a week in Barcelona before the cruise. She actually said "Are you kidding me? I would go without hesitation."

Sounds like you have a good school system, I mostly hear stories about how hard it is to take kids out of school for any reason!

We had some similar sentiments from my daughters school administration when we took her out of school one of the cruises, got an independent study packet, which she completed on the flight home - and then proceeded to leave in the seat back pocket......

Being in High School now - we're just hoping that the calendars match up - missing a week as a junior is a lot tougher than 5th grade....

We will be PLATINUM, after completing the inaugural Alaska cruis this May.

Where will you be heading in PA? It's a BIG state? Odds are, you are going to Pittsburgh (S/W), Philadelphia (S/E) or a few locations near State College, PA. We had a few days of weather in the upper 60's last week ... melted ALL of the snow ... but the temperature dropped to 40 the next day ... then we got two days of light snow. The extreme changes are terrible.

We usually get most of our snow in February ... but have had snow as late as April. Most of the time, there are no weather related travel advisories in mid March.

Thanks for the heads up about the weather. I am not fond of driving in snow or ice being a native southern Californian though we do go to Squaw Valley in the winter for skiing.

Aspen wants to visit Penn State, University Park, Lehigh in Bethlehem, Gettysburg and Bucknell in Lewisburg on this trip.
