Is everyone aware this happened in August 2012?
Yes. Everyone is aware of this.

This is a big issue that Disney needs to respond to and explain their actions.
why does Disney need to respond and explain their actions? It's not like they did anything to the girl. Sure they didn't tell police in Florida, but it's not like they kept the guy on the ship
this dead horse has been beaten enough.![]()
Among other things, because more than one of their employees at least arguably violated US law by not reporting child abuse in a US port.

And if they did, why hasn't Florida acted even though they have known since early Aug? This is why I don't think DCL did anything illegal. I can't imagine that the state wouldn't have jumped on the opportunity.

It looks like the AG in that county is looking into it:

I would really like Disney to make a statement as to what happened. Who was at fault, what they are doing so it will not happen again, etc. That would make me feel a lot better and might put the questions of "cover up" or "payoff" to rest that have been posted all over the internet. I hope they just do not let it go without any answers. It will always leave a lot of people doubting them in their minds in the future. Already many parents on this board and others are worried about the childcare staff (background checks, history in other countries, etc.) What a downer to be on your cruise with that in the back of your mind. Or wary to use the children's clubs.

Also, the way they handled this incident might make other workers think they could get away with something like this. Well, Milton Braganza got away with it-what do I have to worry about.![]()
Disney really can't stop it from happening again, they can try and be more strict then they already are, but this is the world and this happens most likely everyday, just be as smart as you can be and whatever happens, happens
I understand they can't prevent all molestations on their ships/in their parks. What I meant was not dropping the ball again in following the law. Reporting it in the US/PC/FL when a crime happens there.
I'm not sure there has ever been a time or place when what *should* happen HAS happened in regards to personal safety.
A cruise ship is a city. An 11 year old wandering a city alone....maybe they *should* be safe, but the reality is that they are not.
I once nearly had an incident when I was maybe 13 with a guy that my mom KNEW, he was a patron of the classic-film movie theater club she worked at. She was closing up, I was waiting, he came out and got really creepy when my mom was putting things away in back. My mom was there, he knew it, and he got weird. I "should" have been safe. I wasn't quite safe. (she came back to the front just in time and kicked him out, then the owners took away his membership.)
It's just the way of humans. And all mammals. All creatures, actually. For all time.
I would not equate and 11 year old getting on a elevator alone on a DCL ship to a 11 year old wandering around a city alone. That is just a silly comparison.
Not really that silly in this day and age. I've seen kids that looked young wandering alone in NYC(though they did live in city)
I meant the danger involved. I would consider an 11 year old wandering alone in NYC to be a lot more dangerous than a 11 year old getting on a DCL elevator alone. I thought the comparison was a little silly.
I feel this was a very rare and isolated incident on DCL. I will continue to give my 11 year old his self check in and out freedom on DCL. Not so sure I'm ready to let him wander the streets of Los Angeles alone. LOL.
