Inanimate objects you feel sorry for?

The sofa - always people sitting on you.

I tend to see inanimate objects as "happy" if they are fulfilling their purpose, so a sofa would like to be sat on. I mean, think about the toilet! It is doing it's job though. It's objects that don't or are being neglected, that I feel more sorry for. It's like Toy Story - the toys just want to be played with by a child and bring that child joy and all is well as long as they are doing that.

I still have most of my stuffed animals from childhood. Granted they are in a crate in the basement but I could never just throw them out. I’d donate but I don’t think most would want them

I felt sorry for the last car I sold. It left me stranded several times and I was VERY ready for a new car (or so I thought). We traded it in and I saw it sitting there in the parking lot while we drove off in our new car and I felt .... guilty?! It had been a good car for many years. It was the car I brought the kids home in. It had taken us on family vacations and it looked so sad sitting there like we’d abandoned it. I felt sorry for it.

The washing machine, it gets all the crap that can leave the washer smelling bad at times.
A smoke detector in the hallway , it does not have battery , only wired. When it goes off I had take it down. Don't worry I have plenty of others.

Then I’ll be weird with you. Hence my Avatar. Loved stuffed animal since a child (I’m old). Duffy and Shelly and Chip and Dale are moved all over the house. HUSBAND (!) and I both talk to them.
