In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Hi Goddesses!

I am back. Yes, really. I promise!

And now I will post again all the time and you'll be sick of me in a day!

xoxo

And a bad week has just been turned around. Welcome back Erika!!!

We will never be sick of you and you know it! I'm so glad you're back!

Kelly- So... what concert did you spend the day trying to get tickets for? Sometimes we all deserve a nothing day.

Jo- I have done well trying to remind myself that this job is for now, it is not my life. Things there are extremely bad and actually it's getting worse. I know I need to get out before things start crashing down(which it seems like they will) so I keep telling myself I can do it for the kids. But last night there was boy drama too and that just left me feeling sad and down on myself. So that's where this break down was coming from, not that you asked to hear all that. lol

Oh and just a note to everyone... don't get buzzed and go shopping. Actually try it once, it was so much fun to do tonight.

Hello there! Remember me?!? :flower3:

So much has happened since vacation. Scratch that, life hit me hard near the end of vacation. Lots of drama has happened at work including the face of our former company for 14 years being downsized. I won't go into much more because it is still going on. We were told this would be over during the summer - we are on round 3 and I would really like them to stop adding more wax and just pull the strip quickly. It's been a nightmare. I'm very unhappy and recently started reflecting quite a bit. I no longer love what I do. I'm taking steps to get me to a career that I would love once again.

I owe a TR - bigtime and I have notes. Hopefully, I can get at least started sometime tomorrow (huge paper due Monday). At any rate, I need to re-focus mentally and the sooner, the better. The Princess is only 4 months away!

Meg--thanks for the warm welcome back! I am happy and ready to get going and make this all a priority again!

Hi Everyone!

E / EE - Welcome back! So glad to have you both back again! :cool1:

Meg - It was Take That tickets that I got! I don't know if you have heard of them or not? They were THE boy band in the 90's, and they regrouped a couple of years ago and this is there 3rd concert since getting back together! One of the original members (Robbie Williams) left in the 90's and has now rejoined, and they are touring again! Me and my best friend have been to every tour they have ever done since 1994 - we are such geeks! :rotfl2: In fact, DH's favourite thing to say to me is 'You are 50% geek and 50% awesome' :lmao: I embrace my inner geek so I take it as a compliment! :rotfl:

Hope everyone has a great Saturday :hippie:

HI All

WOW WELCOME BACK ERIKA AND AMIEE!!! :welcome:
So nice to hear from you!!!

Amiee, sorry about the work drama

E, State Cup!! GOOD LUCK. Soccer for us was done last week and our party was last night.

Meg, Boy drama.... you have not posted anything about a new boy..
For the record I still have boy drama with my DH from time to time. :lmao:

Kelly, I love your inner geek too!!!! Yay for the tickets!!:yay:

Nancy, Kat, Lisa, Ronda hope you all are well

I am getting ready to run the 8K course with run group for practice.

Anyone have advice on what to wear in the cold? How much or little should I wear?

Hi Jo! It's good to be back!

And I can tell you exactly what to wear for cold weather running--I'll type it out later. But living in Maine, I know a thing or two about running in the cold. Tell me about your running group? I didn't know you had one...that is awesome!

Kelly! I've missed you! SO funny about your boy band!

Off to the semi-finals now. Wish us luck!

Take That? Robbie Williams? God yes I know them! I am extremely jealous and I want to hear everything about the show when you go, including how good Robbie looks. And just so you know I think all the best people have a little geek in them!

EE- So glad you're back and can't wait for the TR! I hope that you can find work that will make you happya gain.

E- You know I missed my neighbor to the North. Hope the semi-finals go well!

Jo- Its not a new boy sadly, he's a kid I met thru an ex who seems hell bent on making me unhappy. I am done with him. Let us know how the run went! And hows Alaina feeling?

Ok everyone I'm off to carve pumpkins, it's totally normal I spend hours doing this every year, right?

Meg, Carving pumpkins is normal, here is a trick, I buy a $1 store table cover and they put all the guts on the table cover then when your done just roll up the table cover and out to the trash!!
Alaina is better, thank you for asking, she is all ready to trick or treat!

E, My run group is with the park district Its new it started in Aug, about 20 or so people, but not everyone is there all the time
Today I RAN every step of 5 miles in 1:08. I am slower than EVERYONE in the group so one of the coaches ran with me and she would not let me walk at all, and I am greatfull for it.
E, you have missed that next week I have my first big race a 15K downtown with 15,000 other people. I ran/walked 9.3 last weekend on my own in 2:18 the cut of for my 15K is 2:20. :scared1:

I feel good, right now, off to make Halloween cookies and brownies.

Nancy, where are you??? Are you OK!!

Kat, hows the shin, did you run today?

Jo, yes, I ran today. 10.16 miles in 2:31, with the Galloway group, which was perfect pacing for a 13 min mile Galloway long run (he adds 2 min). I should be good to go for OBX, though I doubt it will be a PR!!

Shins seem to be doing fine. I taped the problem left shin.

It was COLD here, for me. 36 when we started. I layered up... long tights (cuddle-dud winter version), running skirt on top, then a tight long sleeve wicking top, with a short sleeve on top, and then a lightweight cotton hoodie and gloves. I removed the hoodie and gloves after mile 3.

However, I hate cold. E and Nancy would like do shorts and a tee in this weather and look at me like I am nuts.

Meg, sorry for the bad night.

SOO SOO glad to see everyone back!!

Love hearing about these great runs!

JO! WOW...you have made huge progress! Last time I was here, you were complaining that you couldn't seem to get out of your 2-mile rut! Now look at you...9 miles here, 5 miles there! Awesome!

Kat--great job on the long run. It has been a while since I have done any distance. I did the Half in August, and I don't think I have run more than 5 since then. It's been all soccer, soccer, soccer.

Speaking of which...Riley's team lost in the semis today, so they are done for the season. It was a great game, though, so no one left upset.

And just in time. This is our last week-end of soccer and next week-end is Kelly's first gymnastics meet of the year. *sigh* At least I am *just* a mom for gymnastics. Not the coach, not the team mom. Nada. Just show up and cheer. I can do that.

I had a really interesting run today. Only 3 miles, but all trail and really steep terrain. It has been FOREVER since I have done a trail run and this one was very rocky, lots of roots, very narrow, etc. and 1.5 miles winding uphill...a few level spots, then back up. But of course, the way down was a breeze. So, only 3 miles but a killer workout. Running a trail is so different and I feel it in my quads for sure. It was so pretty and peaceful, though. I really liked it.

Ok, off to a Halloween party for the night. No, I am not dressing up this year. The girls are punk rockers (which Riley did last year) and Riley and his pack are all going together as a themed group. I'll post pics tomorrow night.

And get this...the Halloween candy is not tempting me AT ALL. That is a huge victory!

:lmao: SO SO SO true! OMG, the tems at the Princess were perfect for me. It was 42* when we started and I was so happy in shorts and a running t. By the end, it was already close to 70, I think, and that was way too hot for me. 40s and 50s are my ideal running temps. 30s without wind are really nice, too.

It was about 50 when we finished, upper 50s when I got home (we all go for coffee after usually), and literally took me all morning to warm up! I even had to go in the hot tub for a while.

I am such a wus about cold. Although, I found out this summer that I am not very fond of running in over 80, either.

Hmm, maybe I need a bubble?

Hope everyone has fun with Halloween! Nothing going on here, so nothing to tempt. D will be at work and I have a hockey game during trick-or-treating, so we didn't buy any this year.

Nancy, where are you??? Are you OK!!

 Yes! I'm fine! Wowza the thread was on fire today! Welcome Back Erika and Amiee!:lovestruc

:rotfl2: 36*? I might have opted for long sleeves. No pants though. And Lord knows no HAT! :rotfl2:

Nate had his state x-country meet today. Our boys team came in 3rd overall in the state for the class M schools. :thumbsup2 Sadly, the top 2 teams go to the state open meet (where all the classes compete against each other). They were so, so close. So close. Like just a few points separated them. :headache:

Tomorrow starts he!! week for drama club. Rehersal from 1-7pm. I don't have to be there the entire time (thankfully). Only for an hour or two. Then, tomorrow night we are skipping out on the ususal Holloween festivities and going to see Blue Man Group. :thumbsup2 Should be a lot of fun.

Food today has been wonky. I'm about to enter it into sparkpeople to see just what I've done to myself. I haven't necessarily eaten a lot of food, just not the best choices. :headache:

Hey everybody! I hope everybody is having a great Saturday. I'm popping in during a writing break. What a great way to spend my Saturday night, lol. My mom and aunt took my kiddos to their cousin's Halloween party, so I had a few hours of peace. :thumbsup2

Tomorrow, we are going to a trunk or treat at my aunt and uncle's church. They really get into the festivities (about 30 cars participate). On top of this, my uncle -very big kid- brings a soup laddle and his vat (it's the kettle that he makes dumplings in for 30 each Thanksgiving). Each kid gets a laddle of candy.:scared1: They talked about being Mickey & Minnie and turning their black Rav4 into a mouse. My pastor cousin in Bedford IN (their daughter), just posted on FB that people were taking pictures as they were driving (they had their trunk or treat this afternoon), but she wouldn't confirm their costumes. Patience I guess, lol.

As far as the cold goes, I hate it too. I really need to get some warm running clothes sooner rather than later. Back to my wonderful paper.

Hi All, Ducken Frunk!!!!!
Bottle of wine!! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

E, Yep, from stuck at 2 mile to 9.3 but dont be fooled I am SO VERY NERVOUS before EVERY RUN!!! :scared1:

PATRON ANYONE!!!!!

E, Are you going to the Princess?

Hi everyone!

So nice to see the return of good friends here. Welcome back E and EE.

Not much going on here other than I am in a funk this week. Not sure where my motivation to eat right and exercise went but I just don't have it. This is freaking me out because I see myself heading towards the old me and I just don't have that fire inside of me to stop it. So I am reaching out to you all for help. I am need of some serious motivation. Sigh....

Hope everyone has a great Halloween. I am heading out so that I am not near the candy.

I find this to be the most difficult time of year. Halloween treats. Cold, dark nights. Thanksgiving menus. Christmas cookies. The lines get more and more blurred with every passing year, and the holi-DAY turns into one big treat & feast fest.

I'm finding that I'm much more likely to by-pass the candy, etc if I spend a few minutes reading nutritional labels. I stopped in the candy aisle at the grocery store and read a bunch of different packages and tried to translate those empty calories into minutes on the TM. Seeing as how I barely have time to breath most days I certainly don't have the time in my schedule to figure out how to burn and extra 300 calories.

Erin was telling me about some show she happened to catch - I want to say on Bravo - "Thinspiration". Basically rich people who have hired a hard-core trainer to help them lose weight. Anyway - this guy had eaten a cupcake that was not on his plan. So the trainer gave him 2 more and made him hold them in his hands and run up and down his stairs until he had burned as many calories as the cupcake he'd eaten. Of course by then the cupcakes in his hands were complete mush. That little story is stuck in my head and I see it often as I am tempted to reach for something "naughty". And truth be told, Erin is just evil enough to do that to me....:scared:
