In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

:cheer2::cheer2: Way To Go Kat :cheer2::cheer2:
Great Time! I am amazed, just amazed and inspired by all you have done.:worship:

Sorry you feel yucky. I hope you get to see some of the city today.

Hi Ronda, Hope all is well.

So yesterdays long run was a gross 2 miles, then I went to the store and I now have real running shoes, so today I set out for my long run, in the fog at 6:30 AM DH & Girls are still sleeping, 2.75 done & I pass my house to run it again, and here come my girls running out side in PJ's to come with me.
DH's still sleeping and he did not know they were out so I stoped and I did 2.89 miles, So much for a long run. I am so mad at myself, Today is one of those days that I do think twice if I will finish the 1/2 :sad2:

Spent the rest of the day at an outdoor waterpark. We had a good time, We have never been to an out door park with the kids before, we did not do one at disney.

Tomorrow is my running club meeting, CANT WAIT

Thanks!!

I lived here for almost 4 years (mid 1997- late 2000), and I was in the city for 3 of that, so I am good without the sight-seeing, thankfully. Not sure how much of it my friend could have taken today.

I am actually feeling good except for some lower body pain (which ice and advil have done wonders), and could have hobbled through the rest of the day, but she is pretty much down for the count.

Sorry that your run got cut short. :( You still have a lot of time, though... I didn't start training until 2 months before!!

Good luck with the running club, hope it's awesome!!

Paula, sorry to hear about your cousin. :(

Thanks everyone!! I am tired and sore and vegging on the couch.

Official time was already posted, but here is what my runkeeper app says: http://runkeeper.com/user/69686130/activity/13788943.

We got up at 4:50AM so that we could get ready and cab it to the start line. Caught the cab at about 5:20 and were ready to go outside gear check at 5:45. Checked the bag, and waited for one more girl in the group to show up, which unforunately wasn't until almost 6:15.

Three of us really wanted to hit the port-a-potties, and the line was ridiculous at that point (gun start was 6:30). One of the girls was actually staying in a hotel right across the street, so we ran over there and used a real bathroom and were in our corrals about 3 min before the start.

This one was a lot different from the Princess... each corral was by projected finish time and no-one really seemed to be policing the corrals much.

Anyhow, 36 min after gun time, I crossed the start line. I was alone since my friend was going to be way faster (she finished in 2:29) and she is kind of the type that wants alone time anyhow.

The first 3-4 miles went great, and then my left shin started to hurt. By mile 6 it was killing me, so I started walking a lot more than the 2/1s I started with. I think I walked all of miles 7 and 8, then started in with 1/1s but was having a lot of trouble running. By mile 11 or so my right hip was hurting in sympathy.

However, I made it through. GPS says 13.95 miles and 2:53 - I started the app when our corral stepped up to start, so I guess it took 3 min to cross the start line.

Also, I didn't finish last in our little group! 2 girls finished under 2 hours, my friend was about 2:30, and the other 2 were 2:47 and 2:59.

The bands and such were nice and all, but somewhat unnecessary. I had my headphones in anyhow, and the bands just didn't last long enough to be more than a novelty.

It was cooler than home, but still not really very cool. About 70 and on the humid side to start and probably 75-80 at the finish and sunny.

Anyhow, now I am on the couch and icing my shin. This group isn't as fun as us (well, they can all go home!) so we went to lunch and then everyone dispersed. My friend has a dehydration headache so she is laying down and I am anchoring the couch.

Tomorrow, I go from here to spend the week in San Antonio for work.

Loved hearing it all Kat! :lovestruc Sorry about the shin and hip but my goodness that makes me even more impressed with you and your time! Hope it all feels better soon.

Boo for the injury! You mean you didn't tour a park after the half?!?:rotfl2: Have fun in SA! I hope you get a little time to enjoy the sights.

I just attempted to post a pre-trip report on the PTR forum and it didn't save! Spent the last hour typing it up with catchy sayings. I hate when that happens. Oh well, I will come up with something new later tonight. Got a little back to school shopping done (well, a few things then more from the web tonight before the sale ends). Also found a cute dressy tank for me for our trip. My arms are too big for me to wear them at home, lol. Kat - I promise not to scare you with one when we see you. :lmao:

I SO hate that Amiee.

Who knows, this is the same crowd that was in Savannah, and no sight-seeing occurred!

You won't scare me. Btw, Labor Day is good for Biergarten. Maybe a ressie around 2PM? It's up to you, it's our only scheduled meal that day.

I didn't realize you guys overlap. That's wonderful. It's coming quickly, eh?

:cheer2::cheer2: Way To Go Kat :cheer2::cheer2:

JO! On the bold - stop! You've come SO FAR! Stop it. When you first came here you didn't even know if you could run - were not getting a lot of support at home. Now you're training for a half.

That's incredible Jo. Focus on that.

Just wanted to pop back in before re-writing my PTR. This time, I am writing it on Word first. :thumbsup2

Jo - that cracks me up that your kiddos were out in their PJ's. Frustrating, but it happens. My son once decided that he wanted to check the mailbox in the middle of the night (he was about 4 then).

And stop thinking that you won't finish!

Be back later everybody!

Ladies, I can't tell you how excited I will be when these stitches are out. They are driving me crazy! My appointment is Tuesday at 12:15.

I just posted my PTR with the plans to change it to a TR. I plan on putting my camera too good use!

Nancy! Al Roker. :lmao: He's not a nice man you know. He may play one :goodvibes but he's not.

?????:confused3

Wow on the getting to sleep in! ;)

Three of us really wanted to hit the port-a-potties, and the line was ridiculous at that point (gun start was 6:30).

Only once? :rotfl2:

One of the girls was actually staying in a hotel right across the street, so we ran over there and used a real bathroom and were in our corrals about 3 min before the start.

:worship: a *real* bathroom. YAY!

However, I made it through.

You didn't just *make it through*. You owned it :cool1:

Tomorrow, I go from here to spend the week in San Antonio for work.

Enjoy San Antonio. And the Riverwalk. And the Alamo. And all things awesome there. You totally deserve some "me" time now!

Dehydration headache: I have been convinced I get dehydration headaches.

I get them too. Took me a while to realize that's what they were though

I drink a lot.

 So do I! Oh wait. I don't think we're talking about the same thing here.....:rolleyes1

So happy to see you Ronda!!! Hope your summer is going well!:goodvibes Block party. Did you have that already this summer?

You mean you didn't tour a park after the half?!?:rotfl2:

OMG I'm going to cyber-slap you. Stop that right now.

<sigh> I hate when life mucks up my plans. :sad2: Ah well. They're only little and cute for a short time, then they are all big and surly and sleep until noon. ;)

And, Jo. Don't make me cyber-slap you too. You will be able to do the Princess 1/2. No doubt. Just keep on keepin' on. :goodvibes

Look at Nancy go! :rotfl2: Cyber slapping and all.

No big story on Mr. Al Nancy. I always thought he seemed like the absolute sweetest guy. But I tell you he can make some very cutting comments about people. Very. Beyond sarcastic - on the nasty side.

Kat! San Antomio. Have fun.

 I've ditched the whistle and gone straight to abuse

yes, you're right. I have heard some of the things he's said before. Sometimes I agree with his opinions, sometimes not - but for someone who is so "public" I think he needs to be extremely careful about what he says and when. Must be challenging. I know I would have offended many people by now if I were in his shoes! :rolleyes1

So, it's Monday folks. Start of a new week. Start of a new month! :goodvibes Today we are headed out to take Nate for a college visit. University of Connecticut. Are you listening Erika? Are you? Dairy bar, here I come :thumbsup2

Good morning! Dairy bar sounds yummy. 30 days until our trip - the PTR is titled Around the World in 10 days a pirate, princess and a chauffeur's adventure. I am giving up $4 coffee drinks beginning today. I did the calculation and I can save enough each year to nearly finance a trip. Had a moment. Sigh.

Yes Nancy, Start of a new month, the month I turn 35:scared1:

Have a nice visit!

Where is Meg and Erika?? Hope all is well

Total lightbulb moment! That adds up quick, doesn't it!

ah a birthday in our future

EE, I know I have issues,

:rotfl: don't we all!

I'm currently getting annoyed with my daughter. She spent the night at a friends house and I need to pick her up soon - but she won't answer my calls/texts. :headache:

Could she still be sleeping?? Or could they be swimming? Could you call the girls house?

Still loving that the girls are too young for this, I have a few years before I feel you pain Nancy :rotfl:

I didn't put a preference. Kat and I got upgraded after the Princess to Martinique. :cool1:
