In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

I'm near tears at the moment. Tears of joy. Tears of pride.

Just looked up Kat's time on the 1/2. 2:49:23 :dance3:

Ah-mazing Kat. So, so proud of you. Of course, I just discovered that they have a live feed at the finish line - wish I had known that earlier or I would have watched for her to finish.

Jo - we haven't tried BBQ yet. I don't know if we will (I don't like eating outside when it's hot :rotfl2:) I can't remember if I shared this or not, but my son really has champaign taste (gets it from his momma). He would choose sushi over a burger any day. :cool1:

Kelly - Kudos on your loss!

Paula - I'm sorry about your cousin. I hate cancer.

I'm holding out til Tuesday to run! I can't wait. Even though it will be more walk for a while and jog for a minute or two.

OMG. Al Roker just finished. Not to brag or anything, but our Kat beat Al Roker. :thumbsup2

Nancy, I am so glad you posted Kat's time. It was killing me!!!:rotfl2:

So flipping excited Kat! I have goosebumps. Lot's of memories mi amigos! Oh, crap Nancy, now I'm crying.

Nancy, thanks! Kat! My Lord. Way to go. Thrilled for you.

Live feed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG. I would have gotten my lazy a$$ out of bed for that. :rotfl2: I LOVE RACING!

Kelly, congratulations on your loss kiddo. :goodvibes

Nancy! Al Roker. :lmao: He's not a nice man you know. He may play one :goodvibes but he's not.

Hi everyone,

Crazy weekend here. My couidin is holding his own right now but the prognosis is not good. Can't go into details as I am out the door to church but wanted to say thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers. Hugs to you all!

Kelly - awesome job on the loss!

Kat - can't wait to hear how the race went!

Nancy - I pick up the new wheels on Thursday and can't wait!

Ok off to church and then to get my ride in that I didn't get in yesterday. I'll write a proper post later tonight and update my food for the weekend.

Paula - I'm so sorry. I missed this post when I came on this morning. I'm sorry - hoping for better news. Sighing.

Paula, sorry to hear about your cousin. :(

Thanks everyone!! I am tired and sore and vegging on the couch.

Official time was already posted, but here is what my runkeeper app says: http://runkeeper.com/user/69686130/activity/13788943.

We got up at 4:50AM so that we could get ready and cab it to the start line. Caught the cab at about 5:20 and were ready to go outside gear check at 5:45. Checked the bag, and waited for one more girl in the group to show up, which unforunately wasn't until almost 6:15.

Three of us really wanted to hit the port-a-potties, and the line was ridiculous at that point (gun start was 6:30). One of the girls was actually staying in a hotel right across the street, so we ran over there and used a real bathroom and were in our corrals about 3 min before the start.

This one was a lot different from the Princess... each corral was by projected finish time and no-one really seemed to be policing the corrals much.

Anyhow, 36 min after gun time, I crossed the start line. I was alone since my friend was going to be way faster (she finished in 2:29) and she is kind of the type that wants alone time anyhow.

The first 3-4 miles went great, and then my left shin started to hurt. By mile 6 it was killing me, so I started walking a lot more than the 2/1s I started with. I think I walked all of miles 7 and 8, then started in with 1/1s but was having a lot of trouble running. By mile 11 or so my right hip was hurting in sympathy.

However, I made it through. GPS says 13.95 miles and 2:53 - I started the app when our corral stepped up to start, so I guess it took 3 min to cross the start line.

Also, I didn't finish last in our little group! 2 girls finished under 2 hours, my friend was about 2:30, and the other 2 were 2:47 and 2:59.

The bands and such were nice and all, but somewhat unnecessary. I had my headphones in anyhow, and the bands just didn't last long enough to be more than a novelty.

It was cooler than home, but still not really very cool. About 70 and on the humid side to start and probably 75-80 at the finish and sunny.

Anyhow, now I am on the couch and icing my shin. This group isn't as fun as us (well, they can all go home!) so we went to lunch and then everyone dispersed. My friend has a dehydration headache so she is laying down and I am anchoring the couch.

Tomorrow, I go from here to spend the week in San Antonio for work.

Awesome job Kat!

Dehydration headache: I have been convinced I get dehydration headaches. Last week I read someone's comment on runnersworld forums. He got headaches when hydrating too much. Not hyponytremia by any stretch, but low electrolytes. I drink a lot. My last couple of runs I've chased it with some powerade and no headache. Just a thought.

Hold that couch in place and bask in the accomplishment.

Paula -

Ronda

Boo for the injury! You mean you didn't tour a park after the half?!?:rotfl2: Have fun in SA! I hope you get a little time to enjoy the sights.

I just attempted to post a pre-trip report on the PTR forum and it didn't save! Spent the last hour typing it up with catchy sayings. I hate when that happens. Oh well, I will come up with something new later tonight. Got a little back to school shopping done (well, a few things then more from the web tonight before the sale ends). Also found a cute dressy tank for me for our trip. My arms are too big for me to wear them at home, lol. Kat - I promise not to scare you with one when we see you. :lmao:

Thanks!!

Have you tried electrolyte tablets? I have a friend in my running club that swears by them.

I don't seem to have much trouble with headaches, at least so far anyhow. Everything else hurts, though.

My friend here carries electrolyte drinks and not water, so not sure? She says she gets them from other sports as well.

Who knows, this is the same crowd that was in Savannah, and no sight-seeing occurred!

You won't scare me. Btw, Labor Day is good for Biergarten. Maybe a ressie around 2PM? It's up to you, it's our only scheduled meal that day.

Welcome back Ronda! Hope MO hasn't been hit with this nasty heat and humidity that we have had recently!

Yes, Labor Day is fine and I will have my wonderful TA make the ADR. And 2pm works fine. We have a late ADR for Artist Point that evening. We are going to sleep in that morning because the kids want to do late EMH. Works perfect.

Hopefully, you will at least get to see the River Walk. I will cross my fingers!

:cheer2::cheer2: Way To Go Kat :cheer2::cheer2:
Great Time! I am amazed, just amazed and inspired by all you have done.:worship:

Sorry you feel yucky. I hope you get to see some of the city today.

Hi Ronda, Hope all is well.

So yesterdays long run was a gross 2 miles, then I went to the store and I now have real running shoes, so today I set out for my long run, in the fog at 6:30 AM DH & Girls are still sleeping, 2.75 done & I pass my house to run it again, and here come my girls running out side in PJ's to come with me.
DH's still sleeping and he did not know they were out so I stoped and I did 2.89 miles, So much for a long run. I am so mad at myself, Today is one of those days that I do think twice if I will finish the 1/2 :sad2:

Spent the rest of the day at an outdoor waterpark. We had a good time, We have never been to an out door park with the kids before, we did not do one at disney.

Tomorrow is my running club meeting, CANT WAIT
