In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Hi everyone...

Apologies for my absence, just haven't had much to contribute lately. It has been day to day combat to keep my goals in the forefront and for the most part I am winning the battle - yeah!

Had my first real training ride with the Team in Training group today and OMG - LOVED IT!!! Twenty miles with a few climbs. The group is very welcoming and not intimidating. Well they are when the advanced group peels off for hill repeats and you just watch them go with your jaw dropped, but I too can get there right? They taught me so much about gearing today that my ride was 1000% better than any I have done on my own. Less effort, more power = one happy Paula!

I am off this afternoon to do some shopping for a road bike since my fabulous hybrid is working against me here. It gives me a great workout, but I am using way more energy to do what I need to do which is build my base mileage. Wish me luck!

Oh - went to see Toy Story 3 last night and it was just amazing. I laughed so hard at one point I was crying and then I was bawling towards the end. It was just that good. Go see it people!

Lisa - I have been thinking about the whole single life thing a lot lately. Some days it bothers me, some days I own it. It just ebbs and flows. Someday right? Congrats on the Lakers and the rainbow trout.

Meg - have fun at the lake.

EE - so glad that life appears to be calming down a little bit for you.

Kat - no dryer with inlaws coming is not good. Glad that you found a work around. How was running this morning?

Kelly - don't forget to come up for air while watching the World Cup. We miss you around here.

E - hope you are having fun camping

Nancy, Cathie, Jo, Ronda and anyone I may have missed - HI!!!

Can you tell I am on an endorphi high right now? :rotfl2:

Paula - yeah it's exactly how I feel. Some days/most days - doesn't matter and some days just out of the blue it hits me hard. Strange. Which is a good sign for me. I NEVER cared in the past. Before Jean I mean. Never cared. So I would be fine if I ended up single for sure. But it's not what I want and THAT is a good thing. Progress.

Thanks for sharing that - I have to go back and read your post again. I've missed you here.

BUT -

:rotfl::lmao::worship::rotfl2: READ this thread. You you know I don't do TS. Money. I don't do ADRs. Don't like them even if I was doing TS. But check out this thread. Ummm yum if I budget the money for them. HOB will be no budgeting - they just need you to spend $35. And there are some great places at the SW/Dolphin - I've eaten at Fresh with the DVC discount before. And if I can't afford them all - $3!!!! I'll share them with you guys. But let's pray I get the money in order.

Of course you can get there Paula. Of course. That's very exciting. So thrilled that all the extra skills and techniques are meaning huge changes for your biking. I can only imagine - with all your hard work - how satisfying that must be.

Nice place to meet someone -as an extra bonus. Me - I must think someone is going to knock on my door. :lmao:

Can't wait to hear about your bike shopping Paula. Nice.

Toy Story - I was reminding Jean that we took two of our nephews to the original and I suddenly realized that there were 3 and 4. :rotfl2: One is in college and the other is just finishing up HS. HOLY CRAP.

Lisa, not until Sept. :)

So tired. Running around all day, borrowed a friend's dryer, and everything is ready for in-law visits.

Food for today (veggie/fruit fail):
B: fiber cereal/minimoo (70), coffee
L: black bean omelette (130)
S: McD's ice cream cone (150)
D: Naan pizza (250), smart ones mini cheeseburger (200), CB micro ravioli (180)
S: 1 bag FF popcorn (200)

Total, 1180
Water, 80 oz
Exercise, none (rest day)

BUT - are you and Amiee next? Amiee your first one is September or August?

Hi Everyone!

My reason for not being here is the World Cup! Although, if England keep playing like they are doing then that will only last a few more days :rotfl2:

LisaV - Thursdays episode was 21 of 24! So close to the end!

Goals - water is still going well, tracking is so so and exercise is blah! I need to manage my time more effectively then everything will fall into place. I'll get there!

Everyone - Hi :lovestruc

Stop blaming Canadian models. :rotfl2:

Oooh la la 21, eh? Hmmm. Can't remember.

Good morning! I'm working, but it is almost over. Go me! Netbook is back and clean of anything that shouldn't be there.

Freedom! Enjoy the weekend Amiee.

Thats great Paula! :cool1:

Episode 21 was the one where they did the operation on the 700lb man, and Christina had a great scene with a little girl whos mum had just died, then with Owen :lovestruc LOVE Sandra Oh!

Paula - very cool on the gear usage. The bike has oodles of gears - use 'em. It's like driving a stick and you're the engine. Before you commit to another bike check out different tires. Something like this at Nashbar will feel SO different. I put slicker tires on my mountain bike and turned it into a great commuter.

We are back home. Had a great getaway to Florida. Wednesday we went deep sea fishing. The last site was a bonanza for us. Every time our line went down we came back with a fish. Caught 8 or 10 sea bass. Each of us had a keeper and gave it awayto the the cutest grandfather/grandson on the boat. Grandpa had this tshirt.

Going to scale Mt Laundry.

Love the fishing buddies shirt Ronda!

Lisa - I went with my baby cousin to see TS and TS2. He just got married last year! I feel old!

The movie really was great. Yes, there were some tears (quite a few), but it was a great ending. I won't go into details though. I can't wait to meet Lotso. I couldn't help but have a flashback to the Half when the green army men appeared. Goosebumps for me!

Less effort, more power = one happy Paula!

LOVE IT!

My chaotic week is beginning to slow down :thumbsup2 Freakin' hot here today. Humid, more than hot really and it just feels ick.

I weighed in yesteray instead of today - and I was down another 1.5 lbs,for a total of 3 lbs in the last 2 weeks :thumbsup2 I think that was probably the "easy bloat weight" and now the harder work will begin, but I'm definitely feeling better! My tracking has not been happening in the past few days, but will be back on track tomorrow when my schedule returns to it's normal level of crazy!

Hope everyone is doing well - I can't wait to get into my summer routine here!

Paula, I am SO glad you enjoyed it!! It is so much more fun training with a group.

My run was awesome. Yesterday was 6 miles. I moved up to the 12 pace group and it felt really good. We train a good 2 min slower than pace time when it is really hot and humid (it was 78 with 89% humidity at 7AM yesterday ), so I kept up no problem, even with a really hilly course. This group does run 2, walk 1 intervals and I was fine with that too (suprisingly enough).

I really love training with a group. It's like race day every Sat, but the race is the Princess and you know everyone around you. I was a little intimidated moving up... almost dropped back right at the start, as I looked back at the now-familiar faces of the 13 group. However, the 12s were just as friendly. This really is a great group, so thanks to E (if she is reading) and to the rest of you for encouraging me to go.

Wow!!

Glad you're back. :)

Yesterday was long but good. Concert went great, although it was 92 degrees when it started. I don't think I have been that sweaty (non-exercise-related) in an awfully long time. Totally drenched.

Food tracking and goals for yesterday:
B: 1/2 Special K bliss (45)
2nd B (after run): South Beach protein bfast bar (140), 32 oz powerade zero
L: Bagel Thin (110), turkey (50), smoked gouda (40)
D: 4 oz filet (240), crab legs, shrimp (200?), corn (100), potatoes (100)
S: 3 mgd 64s (200)

Total, ~1225 (could be up to 1400, didn't measure the shrimp/crab)
Water, 100+ oz (it was HOT)
Exercise, 6 miles, standing/singing in the heat for 3+ hours

Goals for the week:
1 long run - done
2 short runs - done
2 xtrain - done
water over 64oz daily - done
tracked and at/under 1200 6/7 - done

That being said, today is a total rest day and a SPLURGE day!! Cracker Barrel for lunch, chips for dinner, and beer. :)

Hi All

The in-laws are gone, and I am beat.

Not many workouts for me.

Elliptical yesterday, not today.
Having issues with my knee

I hope eveyone is having a great day.

Paula, I know you stated that you were having a hard time, but in the same post, you biked 20 miles and loved it. I think that is awesome. I could not ride 20 miles!!!

Jo - I am struggling with food right now - namely the fact that I am eating too much of it. As Nancy keeps reminding us you can't out train a bad diet. I am currently proof of that. It is a new day, a new week, a new start if you will so it is time to dust off the past week's teansgressions and start again.

Good morning everyone!

Good morning! Today is my long day. Had a TM wog yesterday and it was wonderful. No pain! Have a great day.

Paula, I am sending you a big giant hug  cuz I am right there with you.
I can do the workout, but I can NOT control the diet. UGGG! But like you said, New Day, don't hold on to the past and just take it day by day.

Hey ladies! I was so crazy when I got home from the lake I haven't had a chance to pop on here. I will read up when I'm home from work.

I'm in the home stretch of training. My half is this coming Sunday! I'm really having to work on taking it easy and not doing too much. I'm in a much better frame of mind this week though so that helps.

Hi ladies!!!!

have to go back and catch up on reading from the weekend still.

This weekend was nuts. Fun, but nuts haha. Not a whole lot to report just lots of baking for a birthday cake for yesterday afternoon and a cake I'd promised to make my dad for Father's Day. Both came out amazing and I passed out SO many cards at the birthday party, so hoping to get some business from that :)

Did TONS of laundry yesterday. GOOD GRACIOUS I never realized I had so many clothes until I moved and put together everything from my parents' house and everything from storage. DEFINITELY time to sort through them once I get them all clean and get rid of some!

Today I told Carlos we are going on a walk tonight no matter WHAT. I think we need to set up some sort of schedule for exercise, that way it's something we can stick to. It's Monday-perfect day to start something new! :)

This week is a 4 day work week, Carlos and I are leaving Friday morning for a weekend mini-vacation in the mountains...I am so excited we're going so many places that I've never been and are staying at a GORGEOUS bed and breakfast. I'm really excited :dance3:

I hope everyone is having a fantastic day and had an amazing weekend!

Hi Everyone!

Man, this World Cup is taking up so much of my time! :rotfl2: Im watching the Spain match at the minute, very good!

Ive got a new exercise toy that will come in very handy during the world cup - a side stepper with bungee cords! Its great, it works my legs and bum and the bungee cords will work my bingo wings! :rotfl: Best of all, its not very big so it can stay behind the sofa when im not using it and its easy enough to get out and put in front of the tv! :cool1:

That was my main problem with my cross trainer - its so big and so heavy, I struggle to move it on my own so I was constantly asking DH to help me move it and it took up so much space!

Love the side stepper though, I have already done 30 minutes on it, stopped for dinner and I may do another 15 minutes on it whilst I watch the end of the game!

Water - I have had so much water today I feel like im sloshing! Its been very warm here today, and our office is red hot all of the time so Id had my 1.5 litres before lunch!

Tracking - getting there. That is all. :lmao:

Hope everyone is having a great day! :cool2:

Ok. Did anyone else cringe? Sounds dangerous Kelly. Please be careful!

I'm too tired for an actual post. Extremely long day today. I have a lot to comment on, so tomorrow for sure!
