In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Help - my name is Paula and I can't stop eating today. Work totally sucks right now and for whatever reason I think shoving food in my mouth is going to help. Don't know why that is but there it is. Heading to the gym andhoping that a good workout will break this trend. If that doesn't work do you think I could survive as a Starbucks barista? As I sit here watching them I am thinking how bad can that be?

Hi Paula!! My name is Kat and I am right there with you.

I have stayed on the wagon so far today but I am not sure it will last.

Paula - if being a barista paid better, I would do it in a heartbeat. I posted this on Facebook, but I might as well grovel here too. I accidentally called my son sweat pea at football practice in earshot of his teammates. I think I am in deep trouble (deserved). Of all the things I could have called him, I picked one of the most embarrassing ones. :rotfl2:

Ugh - my voice has officially left me. This sucks! Tomorrow should be interesting. Workout was good but my lung capacity is not 100%. Makes things a bit more difficult but I made it. I am off to pack my bike gear for tomorrow's hill repeats workout. It is only an hour but I expect it to be tough.

Hope everyone is having a good night. Seems a bit quiet around here.?.

Eeek Nancy. Hope it improves.....

hmmmm...I've forgotten what this was in reference too? My *pop* sound maybe? But yeah, that's improving. Definitely a muscle thing. Due to my schedule I've been forced to take 2 days off from exercise, so I'm sure that's actually been a good thing.

PISS OFF PIPSQUEAK!!! :lmao::rotfl: said in the most loving way possible. :rolleyes1

:lmao::lmao:

Nancy--updates all around, please.

..........

The kids are also in a play this week. Mulan. Pukefest.

...........

In other kid news--they did a modeling shoot yesterday which was totally fun. The photographer will post the proofs online, so I will post the link as soon as it is ready. LL Bean catalog, here they come!

........

Story...coming, Lisa, coming...:rolleyes1

Ok. back update above. Life update? insane, but what else is new. OH! I know what's new - I need to make a Circus Ringmasters Tailcoat. More sewing in my near future.

Trip to Vermont and back was uneventful. Becca came along and we listened to a book on cd that she needed to read for her honors world civ10 class this fall. "Things Fall Apart". Started off totally and completely painful. But about 5 hours into a 6.5 hour book it started to take a bit of an unexpected turn and we actually ended up liking it!

Mulan. My most sincere apologies to you. Modelling? So help me if you turn into one of those "stage mom from hell" I'm going to slap you

And story? Still waiting. Impatiently I might add.

This weekend is down time (well not really because Mr Kat has a day off too and we all know that means project time).

Oy. No rest for the obviously weary! :flower3: Feel better!

the good news is day 3 no COKE! and I did my grass cutting cross training today with a run club run tonight.

Yay on the cokelessness  How was run club?

Help - my name is Paula and I can't stop eating today.

oh no! :headache: Tomorrow is a new day Paula. Forgive, forget, move on. Can't wait to hear how the hill repeats go.

I accidentally called my son sweat pea at football practice in earshot of his teammates.

 girl, you are in trouble now :lmao:

Meg - I don't know where your quote went! But, glad to hear that your appointment went well. Enjoy San Fran! Another great city!

Good Morning Ladies

Run Club did not go so good last night, we had a choice of 2-4 mile run, I was not prepared for an outside run, So I did the 2. It was so very hard, 2 miles in 26 min. A 13 min mile and I thought I was going to die. It was 95* out last night at 7PM.

I have never been one to give up. But I am wondering if I should just throw in the towel. After 8 months of running I am not any further. How on earth am I going to as 11 miles to that. (crying):sad2:

Jo - not every run is going to be awesome or easy. You did an 13 minute mile pace which is awesome for a new runner. I can't do that right now if you paid me a million dollars! Please don't give up. You have come so far.

I remember my second or third group ride with my TNT group. It was an easy 28 mile ride that had all of 100' of vertical climb to it and I thought I was going to die and began to doubt if I could do this ride or not. If I had given up then, I would never have realized that I could complete a 50 mile ride and I did it!. Give yourself the grace to have an off day from time to time, but please don't give up on yourself. You are way to valuable to just throw your dreams out the window!

Also, distance isn't added overnight. It takes time to build up to a 1/2 marathon. You will get there. Patience, my young grasshopper, is a must for any type of endurance training. Remember, the turtle won the race against the rabbit so can you!

Oh and you ran two miles in 95+ temps at a 13 minute pace! Celebrate that! There are a lot of folks out there who can't do that or won't do that. You had the courage to start this. Now you just need to summon up the courage to finish it. Have faith - you will get there.

Back to work for me. Still no voice, so today should be fun. There is a whole new bunch of guys who haven't experienced the voiceless me yet so I am off to collect my ribbing, but revenge will be mine when I do get a voice back.

Paula,
Thank you so very much for your post.

Let it be know that I don't want to do a 13 min mile. I am all good with my 15 :lmao: But I was trying to keep up. Apparently this run club does not have any other Fatty in it other than me.

There is HOPE!
I just looked up race times from the princess last year, and if I am look at it the right way The last woman to finish was in 4 hours.

Could that be true, could that mean they may not pick me off the course???
I am getting excited again.

I have been forgiven. Made homemade breakfast pockets for my sweet pea.:lmao:

I forgot to add that I just interviewed a wonderful applicant. Knocked my socks off ( I'm usually hard to impress). Her mom works in another department here (4 f 10 in ball of fire). Her brother worked for us, but had a poor work ethic. His girl is just like her mom.

Hey ladies! Got to San Francisco yesterday safe and sound, although not without a little drama. I will share that story when I'm home and not typing on an iPhone. We went to this amazingly yummy restaurant last night called the burger bar. Today... we're off to hit all the touristy sites!

Jo- you'll get there with your running. I never in a million years thought I could do 13.1 but I did. It'll happen for you, I believe you can do it!

Have a terrific Thursday everyone!

Seriously. Go back and read that post again, and pretend that one of us wrote that and not you. 13 min. miles. Unprepared for outside run. 95* heat.

Then take Paulas words of wisdom to heart. (excellent post Paula :lovestruc)

YUM!

awesome. Hope this one works out for you EE!:goodvibes

Bike ride today was awesome. I so, so needed it. My mental state is fragile today :rolleyes1

Oh - and Becca is working on her cake for the 4H fair. This year her theme is "water park". She is currently making little fondant people to put into chocolate rafts. Definitely pictures when the time is right

I am so very GREATFULL for all of you GODESSES.
Thank you so much for your support. Your right Nancy, if that was one of you posting I would have said. OMG any run in 95* weather is awsome.

Talk about a fragile metal state. :lmao: I think I am bummed out because there is not a person in the group with my body type and my pace. But again, I am not giving up, I WILL be at WDW in Feb 2011!!!

Thank you all.

Now Nancy did you say waterpark! She is makeing a waterpark cake. You have to send pictures. I will PM you the link to the watepark I work for.

EE, Yay for getting out of the dog house, Breakfast Pocket.... Do Tell,
Whats in it.

Yay for good interview, will she replace the lier?

Meg, glad you landed safe, have a great time, I could go for a Burger bar now, or maybe just a BAR!!!:lmao: Nancy you in??:rotfl2:

Paula, hows it going with the voice, I hope the guys are not giving you too much of a hard time. I feel sorry for them if they do. Are you ready for your hills?

Jo, when I did the Princess, there is no way I could have done two 13 min miles consecutively. I finished in 3:11.

Remember, the course limit is 3 hours and 30 min from when the last person crosses the start line. So a 16 min mile will finish fine.

You WILL finish.

Plus, the run club will push you where you won't push yourself. I say stick with it a while.

Breakfast pockets:

2 slices of flattened low carb bread (only because it is what I use)
chicken breast meat chopped
Laughing cow wedge

I flatten the bread with a rolling pin - nothing too particular, just to make it more compact. I spread the laughing cow in the center of a slice, then top with the meat. Then place the second slice on top and crip the edges. I have a gadget that does it for me. :thumbsup2 Think Uncrustables.

Other fillings that I use: scrambled eggs, canadian bacon, broccoli, mushrooms, etc. If the filling isn't hot, I will nuke it for a few seconds. One thing I have learned, is this works better with older bread.

Sounds Yummy, I will have to try it!

I finished in 3:41 so I think you will be good. Kat is right, you need to play the rules to your advantage and build up a nice cushion for yourself. Don't worry about that stuff now. It will wig you out. Just focus on learning all you can from the group. They will make you better and stronger than you would be able to do on your own. Oh and as for the fact that no one else looks like you - who cares? Life would be boring if we all looked the same. I am the biggest woman in my riding group, consistently come in last and am having a ball doing it. I hung with a triathelete today doing hill repeats. He got one or two more climbs in than I did, but we both did the same thing. He was just faster. I didn't care because this isn't a race. It is about me! And so should your running be for you.

My voice made for an interesting day. Most of them understood, but I found myself bringing a translator with me when I was out on the staging. It really is too funny. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Hill repeats are rough, but oh so necessary. We basically did a quick warm up ride and then it was race up the hill, recover and do it again so that you build your muscles and your lungs to attack the hill instead of just surviving it. There were these kids from my coach's neighborhood watching us and they were too cute. They would yell out words of encouragement as we were climbing up the hill and then give us kudos on the way down. Of course they then pulled out their little motorized scooters and raced up the hill. Ah to be young again....

Nancy - mmm cake... can't wait to see it. Glad you had a good ride today. You needed that. Hugs...

EE - can you channel the good interviewing vibes my way? I have two interviews tomorrow for a night inspector. Please, please, please let one of these guys work out.

Meg - glad you made it to SF with little drama. Have fun seeing the sights and watch out walking down those hills. You may be surprised at the muscles that start to scream at you from walking down the hills.

Ronda, Laurie, Lisa, Kelly - hi!!!! Miss you gals!

Channeling good hiring thoughts to Paula and Kat! We have lost 3 this week (all new hires) and one who just converted to a permanent status this week gave notice. A one week notice. What happened to 2?

Life goes on right?
