In search of my body...not the one I ate!

Thanks everyone!!! I was all geared up to multi-quote a few hours back but work intervened.

I feel pretty good today, actually. And goof, you will definitely get there.

Born, I have high maintenance hair but I wear it long and on days like today, it is in a twist, all pulled back into a clip (and likely still wet underneath). Not like I see anyone anyhow, except my teammates who are mostly uber-geeks.

We do have a business casual dress code which I personally think is a little silly. No jeans, no t-shirts, shoes have to be dress flats or heels. The size 12 pants in question are dark gray flat-front editor pants and I have paired them with an empire waist tunic-style satiny patterned (red/black/gray) blouse that hides the fact that they cut in a bit at the waist.

DWD, . Hope things slow down.

Goof, glad that the job is working out for you. I know how worried you were a few weeks back!!

My I word for today is information. The more information you have, the better the choices that you make can be. Like all those fast food calorie numbers I have stored in my head!

Hey guys, just a quick drive by. Bruce is still sick, and I got sick again, need to get rid of these germs!!

I did want to say, Goof, congrats on the Adirondacks, where about? Most of my future inlaws are up there (the rest are hanging out in MN with Dawn lol) We are actually heading up to the mtns for the weekend to see everyone for easter! It's so beautiful up there!

Kat - 12!! That's CRAZY awesome!

Anyone who is getting this crazy weather, stay safe out there!!!

The project is in Saranac Lake so I will be looking to find a place there or within a 20 minute drive of there. Any info you or your family can provide about apartment rentals, etc would be helpful. You all are the best...

Thanks,
Goof

Hi All--ok, my crazy day is FINALLY winding down! Phew! Glad to see everyone back here...it was a lonely thread!

Maybe you should adjust your goals to inches

First...OMG....you are at the gym right NOW?!?!? At this hour?!?! I could never do that! :worship: Kim, you are an Uber-Goddess!

Second--loved the Easter pic! :goodvibes

Finally...what is the best way to measure yourself? (Particularly hips?) I can measure my hips three time in three minutes and get three different numbers. Is there a trick to doing this accurately?

E-Please adjust to inches lost, you are doing so well-CORRECTION! you are AWESOME! Super Effort, Dedication, Habits Changed, 5.1- Please hear this-
:cool1: :cool1: :worship: You So Totally Rock! :cool1: :cool1: :yay:

:flower3:

Thanks, Heather! :goodvibes See above for measurement question.

I also wanted to share that my pants today are a size... 12!!! (I started at a tight 18).

Holy crap! That is amazing! Astounding! Awesome! :cool1: :cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2:

Although I am proud to say that I started at a solid size 28 and am now down to a 24 and even a 22 in some things... I may not be a 12 yet, but I am getting there....

goof

That is amazing progress Paula! WOW WOW WOW! Three sizes! That is HUGE progress!

The Adirondacks gig sounds perfect...it is a step up, but a shorter project and closer to home...a win-win all the way around! Good for you!

As for me...I am glad to be home. Long day and very tiring. I lectured for 5 consecutive hours. And I am very high energy when I lecture...highly animated, etc. so it really takes a lot out of me. The students get so into it, though, so that keeps me fueled.

I met with my running coach today and he tweaked my program and says he will having me running faster and longer in no time. :scared1: Tomorrow, thankfully, is my only OFF day during the week (from exercise). I feel so indulgent not going to the gym!

Not sure what type of progress I am making right now. As we know, my scale does not move. So I have been checking clothes to see if those fit a bit better and more loose, but haven't noticed any difference there in better than a week, so :confused3 I will definitely go by inches...as long as I can get a consistent measuring method.

Still no results from the challenge????

Erika, I am not a measuring expert... I did my measurements a while back but I have no idea where I wrote them down.

I couldn't do the gym this late either! I am sort of a night owl but not that much of one.

Saranac Lake... is that where they brew Saranac beer?

We went grocery shopping after dinner tonight. I remember why I prefer to do this alone. 37 going on 12.

Food for today:
B: Fiber One + milk (80)
L: Pita (60) w/ 2 slices bacon (60), salad (100)
D: 8 oz Pork chop (250), cut up and grilled in an foil packet w/ cilantro, mushrooms, green pepper, onions, green chilis, chipotle seasoning (35?), 1/2 can black beans (165)
Total, 750. Exercise, 30 min on elliptical (2.6 miles, 305 cals). Water, 64 oz.

I think I need to eat more.

Back from the Y. I watched this woman run. I mean run for an hour. I didn't just watch her run, I walked on the treadmill, elliptical thing etc., but she ran and was running even faster when I left. She was training with a pacer, poor guy looked bedraggled to say the least. It reminded me of when I would bike 10, 20 ,30 or 40 miles and in the early evening my distance runner friend would ask me to bike while she ran for company and safety. People would praise how great she was doing and later say to me, you looked so tired, ya think. So who knows what he'd already done today. But anyway-thought of you Erika as she ran and how much you have already accomplished and your dedication.

Hips-Widest point, no not chest :lmao: . Do a couple locations and take the biggest # -from widest to a little higher up to account for the bum .

Waist-Belly button and go ahead and suck it in. I know that your natural waist is smaller.

Keep tape measure level with the floor.

Easter08.jpg

Cute Easter Pic! Funny about the hysterics. (I wanted to say this eariler, but it got away. Thanks for reminding me 3DK.) You can tell the little one is about to lose it. Your boys look handsome in their sweaters. My MIL is sewing a springy Easter dress for the 4 year old, but it looks like we might have snow again. GRRRRRRR.

YEE-HAW! That's awesome Kat!!

Insane? Insatiable? Intellegent? Incognito? :cool2: I got nothin' catchy either...:rolleyes1

Hey did anyone notice?? Huh? Did ya? I FINALLY MULTI-QUOTED!!! Awww...I'm one of the "big kids" now...:upsidedow

Just exactly what are you trying to say?;)

Welcome to the 5th grade.

I have my 20 year reunion coming up in a few weeks and am a little nervous about seeing all my high school chums. I never thought it would make me nervous, but I had planned on being svelltte, rich and awsome when they saw me next :rotfl: I'm not svellte, not rich but I have an awsome family so I guess 1 out of 3 aint bad!

Reunion! Yikes. I don't do reunions. Well, maybe I would. Maybe I will, when I am a size 8.

The size 12 pants in question are dark gray flat-front editor pants and I have paired them with an empire waist tunic-style satiny patterned (red/black/gray) blouse that hides the fact that they cut in a bit at the waist.

Kat - enjoyed the style show.

Long day and very tiring. I lectured for 5 consecutive hours. And I am very high energy when I lecture...highly animated, etc. so it really takes a lot out of me. The students get so into it, though, so that keeps me fueled.

I'd enjoy seeing this. What are you lecturing about? Are you on youtube?

37 going on 12.

So TRUE. And it ain't just at the grocery store either.

Goof: Do you read ENR? If you are associated with any articles in it, be sure to let me know. It comes, but I usually have to be pretty desprate to read it. If I knew you had a connection, it'd be a must.

Crossing my fingers that tomorrow we are flooded in. I need a day to not run around like a mad woman.

I am off to shower for the 1st time today. Talk to you on the flip side.
DWD

It reminded me of when I would bike 10, 20 ,30 or 40 miles and in the early evening my distance runner friend would ask me to bike while she ran for company and safety.

I'm sorry. Not sure I caught that. 40, mi...mi...mi...miLES!!!!:scared1: ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ohh, sorry bout that. I blacked out for a minute there. chbc, I now pronounce you a goddess too.:wizard:

Funny that you mention this...this is exactly what happened to me today. So there I am on the TM, running away, when in walk the gaggle of skinny moms. They travel in packs, you know. They have their hair and make-up on and look perfect. They are wearing color-coordinated spandex that leaves nothing to the imagination, but *sigh* they can pull it off. Why? Because they are the skinny moms.

Anyway, as I run I watch them head into the locker room, come out, get on the ellipitcals, do their cardio, get off the ellipticals, go play with a few weights, do some wall squats with the big ball, then head back to the locker room and back out the door. I am running all the while. Yes, I started running before they even got to the gym, and was still running when they left. And they are the skinny ones. Go figure. This is one that I just file away under "S" for Sometimes life just Sucks! :lmao:

And Heather....:lmao: yes, I know to measure my hips at the widest part! :rotfl2: Hmmm...let me take this ankle measurement as it is "close enough" to my hip....:rotfl: Seriously, though, I meant how tight to pull the measuring tape. I can't ever seem to do it consistently.

Thanks for reminding me 3DK.

Hey, I live to serve....

I'd enjoy seeing this. What are you lecturing about? Are you on youtube?

No, not on Youtube, thank God. I'd have to put a bullet in my head if that was the case. My specialty area is the nonverbal behavior of politicians. So yeah, this is my busy season. Heck, with the current administration, the last 8 years have been a field day! :rotfl2:

Crossing my fingers that tomorrow we are flooded in. I need a day to not run around like a mad woman.

Yup, we are getting this grossness, too. But here it is supposed to be a wintry mix....ugh. Not again.

ah- the GENETIC FREAKS strike again....they are so darned aggrevating! :headache:

Off to do MY running for the day.....it's cold and raining here - phooey! I wanted to go for an OUTSIDE run. :sad2:

Hey all. Home sick again today  bummer, if this keeps up i'm going to have to take unpaid days for part of my honeymoon, this is nuts! At least i get a chance to catch up on here.

Goof - BOO! All the fam is near lake george/hadley/corinth so we aren't much help with Saranac Lake. We are however probably going to take a long weekend to Lake Placid next spring, if you're still around up there we may have to pop over to say hi!

I hate the skinny freaks of nature who go to the gym, do nothing at all, and are skinny, boo. That's why i bought my TM etc, the skinny b**ches here are MEAN, they stand there doing nothing and stare and snicker at anyone who isn't a size 2.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Erika, I am not a measuring expert... I did my measurements a while back but I have no idea where I wrote them down.

I couldn't do the gym this late either! I am sort of a night owl but not that much of one.

Saranac Lake... is that where they brew Saranac beer?

I know that is where the name came from, but I am not sure if the actual brewery is there or not... That is something I am going to have to look into.

Cute Easter Pic! Funny about the hysterics. (I wanted to say this eariler, but it got away. Thanks for reminding me 3DK.) You can tell the little one is about to lose it. I do read ENR as it pertains to my buisness, but I haven't been quoted in it or anything. My company (Gilbane) is listed as one of the top places to work in the recent issue. They are right, when things are clicking, it is a pretty great place to work. I am frustrated because I want to do more and need to find the right project to do that on. For a while, it was looking like I was going to have to start looking for a new job when I really didn't want to leave the company. I just wanted a new assignment within it. Hopefully, that problem will soon be solved.

Crossing my fingers that tomorrow we are flooded in. I need a day to not run around like a mad woman.

I am off to shower for the 1st time today. Talk to you on the flip side.
DWD

Good luck with the rains / floods. I hope things won't be as bad as they are predicting...

Goof

I am going to be heading out soon for the day.... off to celebrate St. Patrick's day one day late (my parents were coming back from Atlanta yesterday so we postponed the big corned beef and cabbage dinner until tonight)... I need to load up on salad so that I don't eat too much yummy corned beef (cooked in Guiness of course). I also need to drink about a gallon of water to flush out the salts from the corned beef.... It should all be good though...

Top of the mornin (ok - afternoon) to you all...
Irish Goof

So how was the party? I have never had corned beef (even when I ate meat). I hope you had a great time!

Mine wouldn't be so bad except it is naturlly curly and when it dries on its own....:scared1: Out of control! We have business casual here as well and it is ridiculous. I can see dressing up for meetings but for everyday jeans and a nice shirt would be perfectly fine. My officemate vows to be the lowest common denominator in this category and keeps bumping it down a notch. :lmao: Today she is wearing jeans and slip on clogs. I have a meeting so I am stuck in a suit. Your outfit sounded very pretty. The last time I wore a tunic-style shirt someone asked me if I was pregnant again...:sad2:

First...OMG....you are at the gym right NOW?!?!? At this hour?!?! I could never do that! :worship: Kim, you are an Uber-Goddess!

Second--loved the Easter pic! :goodvibes

Thank you! Baby face doesn't feel the same way about the picture.

Finally...what is the best way to measure yourself? (Particularly hips?) I can measure my hips three time in three minutes and get three different numbers. Is there a trick to doing this accurately?

I met with my running coach today and he tweaked my program and says he will having me running faster and longer in no time. :scared1: Tomorrow, thankfully, is my only OFF day during the week (from exercise). I feel so indulgent not going to the gym!

My mommy guilt keeps me from going to the gym at a human hour. Since I work outside of the home 40+ hours a week I just can't leave them again to go to the gym so I wait until they are asleep. I don't really mind it so much. The worst is not being able to fall asleep right away whan I get home so I average about 4-5 hours of sleep a night.

When I measure I always use the first measurement so there is no guess work.

I am glad your running coach is working out so well. Once I reach a point where I am not progressing in speed and mileage on my own I might look into getting one myself.

We went grocery shopping after dinner tonight. I remember why I prefer to do this alone. 37 going on 12.
.

I would rather go shopping with my 3 year old son than my 36 tear old husband.

OMG!!! 30/40 miles....someone would have to send out the search party to find my body.:faint:

Cute Easter Pic! Funny about the hysterics. (I wanted to say this eariler, but it got away. Thanks for reminding me 3DK.) You can tell the little one is about to lose it. Your boys look handsome in their sweaters. My MIL is sewing a springy Easter dress for the 4 year old, but it looks like we might have snow again. GRRRRRRR.

Thank you. He was not a happy camper. More snow...honestly, when is it going to end for you guys? We are getting thunderstorms and heavy rain today but we are done with the snow. I hope it warms up for you soon.

Why? I work with one of these. She has 2 kids (her daughter is a month younger than my youngest) and weighs maybe 110lbs soaking wet. She runs 30 minutes 3 times a week and that is it. It just isn't fair...

Hey all. Home sick again today  bummer, if this keeps up i'm going to have to take unpaid days for part of my honeymoon, this is nuts! At least i get a chance to catch up on here.
!

Man, you can't catch a break with the germs. I hope you are feeling better soon. It has been a rough winter. My pediatrician told us that it just didn't get cold enough in this area to kill the funk.

Well, TOM is killing me today (sorry Dan). It is weird because I have not had cramps since before my oldest was born. I am dragging butt today and feeling a bit crabby. I really wanted to raid the Easter candy this morning but resisted and had oatmeal instead. Why can't they make a version that tastes as good as chocolate?

Have a great day all. I am off to a meeting so I will check in later.

Oh yeah, I have job interview on Friday so keep your fingers crossed. I need all the PD you can serve up. I really want this job!!

Good Morning all,
This is going to be short and sweet... well not so... I've gained this week so far and I'm not too happy... back up to 221 which isn't a lot but I haven't been cheating or anything so its kinda a downer... Keep moving forward I suppose but its still mucho disappointing. Hope everyone is having a better day than me...

Sarah

Off to do MY running for the day.....it's cold and raining here - phooey! I wanted to go for an OUTSIDE run. :sad2:

It is cold and snowing here. Again. I am SO DONE with this winter!

Hey all. Home sick again today  bummer, if this keeps up i'm going to have to take unpaid days for part of my honeymoon, this is nuts!

Hope you feel better! Hang in there! You guys really are having a bad run of it.

This is exactly why I work in the middle of the night. Since my youngest is in K this year, I have some time in the mornings to work out and do some computer work, but for the most part, I really buckle down and get work done after they are in bed. This the reason I am finally going back to the gym and dealing with my weight now. The youngest is in school...so I am starting to have time to deal with MY sh*t for a change. Yup--5-6 hours a night, that is me, too.

I work with one of these. She has 2 kids (her daughter is a month younger than my youngest) and weighs maybe 110lbs soaking wet. She runs 30 minutes 3 times a week and that is it. It just isn't fair...

I hate her already.

Oh yeah, I have job interview on Friday so keep your fingers crossed. I need all the PD you can serve up. I really want this job!!

Oooh....do tell! What kind of job? Definitely sending PD your way!

OK...MAJOR news here. I mean BIG news. HUGE news. Are you sitting down? (Ok you are at a computer, so I guess that was a stupid question...:rotfl2: )

So I woke up this morning and went into my bathroom to get dressed and ready for the day. (I get dressed in the bathroom b/c we have this really awesome heat lamp thingy that is just SO nice on a cold Maine morning.) Anyway, as I am stretching I think...huh, I feel thin today. (Not a feeling I get often...:lmao: ) So I decide, what the hell, I'll jump on the scale a couple of days early. I am so used to it not budging that I don't even care anymore.

So, up I step...and....

DOWN 2.4 POUNDS!!!! ME! PLATEAU-GIRL! IN 5 DAYS! WTH????

I am so so so psyched to finally see some progress! I swear, if I went another week without a change I was going to kill myself or someone else.

So, I guess my splurge night worked? Everyone who said "you aren't eating enough..." was right. Thank you all so much for your support and for listening to me whine and complain week after week! Let's just hope that I can continue to have some losses for the next few weeks. I am not even hoping for 2-pound losses each week....just seeing weekly progress will be enough!

13 pounds to GOAL!

So, up I step...and....

DOWN 2.4 POUNDS!!!! ME! PLATEAU-GIRL! IN 5 DAYS! WTH????

YAAAAAY! Congratulations! There is hope! (We call all rest easy now. Whew.)

Just a quick pop in. We are flooded in. I am super tired and I'm going to go take a nap. Because I can. (Sorry, can't go to the office for busy work. Sorry, can't pay any bills or do any banking. Sorry, can't take silly calls about the H & G show.) And it's still raining...

3DK - love what you are lecturing on. I can imagine you are super busy right now. OMG - so much to go on. I'd ask alot more questions, but I don't want to start a war on this thread. You know that saying about religion and politics...

BrcsDP - sorry you can't seem to shake this illness. (on a selfish side note, is it helping you lose weight? I'm always willing to pay for a q-tip swab of fat burning germs.)

Bird - :wizard: pixie dust for your new job.

Munky - :wizard: pixie dust for your crapola day too! It'll shake down in a couple days. Try not to make yourself feel better by binging.

Later. Alligators.

It is cold and snowing here. Again. I am SO DONE with this winter!

Hope you feel better! Hang in there! You guys really are having a bad run of it.

Oooh....do tell! What kind of job? Definitely sending PD your way!

I am busting out my happy dance for you..... I knew you would bust through that stubbern plateau at some point.....

Congratulations!!!!!!!

Wow...another MAJOR good thing just happened....

I just received the official word from the University that I have been granted tenure! This is a HUGE deal for a professor, and one that I have been working toward for years! :cool1:

Talk about a good day! :goodvibes

:cool1: Congratulations!!:cool1:
You are so correct, this is a big deal. Huge. I have no doubt that you earned and deserved this honor. The faculty and students will all benefit for years to come. :woohoo: Congratulations:woohoo: again! Enjoy this day!
