In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate, VOL 7! Princesses? Nope, just us Goddesses!

A GREAT day here! Just great! Will do a full TR with pics later tonight. Still getting the kids in bed, etc. and just popped in to say a quick hi. Where is everyone today???

FRIDAY – travel day

Got the kids off to school, even though it was only for a couple of hours. I needed them out of the house so I could have those two hours in peace so I could make sure everything was taken care of, etc. Also got in a quick run. When I got back from my run, MIL was there.

Now, I know you have all been following the MIL saga. I have to say…it really was a best-case scenario situation. She was FINE for the most part. She got somewhat flustered here and there and was super slow, but I could tell that she was on her best behavior throughout the whole day.

The kids didn’t know that today was the day we were leaving. I picked up the girls (and Jeff and Riley flew down separately). We hit the road and about half way there, Kelly pipes up with, “This isn’t the way to the lake house…” We told them we were going to the lake for the week-end and then flying down to FL on Sunday. So I asked her, “Where is the way to, then?” And she, smarty that she is, screams out “The AIRPORT! They were SO excited and happy! Lots of squealing and shrieking coming from the backseat.

It takes just over an hour to get to the airport, but we had to make a “quick” stop and this ended up delaying us more than I was comfortable with, so I was somewhat stressed about time. We pulled up to curbside check-in 55 minutes before the plane was scheduled to take off. And of course I still had to go park and then haul back to the terminal and get through security.

Crubside check in for the luggage. Natch. Dropped MIL off at the curb and told her we would meet her in security. She wanted to get a head start instead of waiting for me. Took FOR.EV.ER to find a parking spot, so I was totally starting to sweat it as take-off was only about 40 minutes away by this point. Thankfully, it is a super small airport, so getting around the terminal is a breeze. The girls and I booked it to security, breezed right through and then went to find MIL. Didn’t see her at the gate. Started to stress. She was STILL in the security line. It must have taken me 15-ish minutes to park the car, get everything squared away, and then make it to security with the girls. How we made it through before her, I’ll never know.

020.jpg

Plane ended up being just a few minutes late taking off, but otherwise was uneventful. I sat with the girls and had my MIL sit across the aisle. It worked out very well.

021.jpg

Once on the ground, we had to wait A LONG time for luggage. Then we got MIL squared away to where her shuttle driver was going to pick her up. She told us to leave as he was running very late. I spoke with him on the phone and explained to him exactly where she was. Once I was confident that he would be able to easily find her, we took off. With her blessing. Go figure.

A quick trip to SSR and we were SO HAPPY to get here. We all three screamed as we drove through the gates. Within 10 minutes of getting to our villa, the Owner’s Locker and groceries arrived and we were good to go. Once all settled and unpacked and ate dinner, the girls wanted to hit the pool. It was hot and sticky, so the pool was definitely the way to go.

026.jpg

While playing in the pool, Cam says “I feel so FREE!” I love it. I actually saw the light bulb go on for her. I explained, “that’s why it’s called vacation.” Just a sweet moment for me.

033-1.jpg

We stayed at the pool until the boys arrived on Magical Express. Cam found an awesome hidden Mickey while waiting for the boys.

035.jpg

Had a FUN time all of us in the villa. Kids were up way too late—11:00! But everyone was so happy. Tomorrow Sea World is on the schedule.

While playing in the pool, Cam says “I feel so FREE!” I love it.

OMG.

I simply can't read your TRs in an emotional state - late at night. You're killing me Erika.

My stomach dropped on this line. It just did an absolute free fall. You are such a wonderul mother. Look at their faces. There are smiling faces in life. And then there are SMILING faces in life.

I need to get off this computer. Your entire family just sends me in mushland.

Not to mention mini Jeff and mini Erika are smiling there all lit up. I don't for the life of me understand how you don't see yourself smiling back in Cammie.

Have a wonderful wonderful time Erika.

SATURDAY – our first full day here

So we woke up, and as promised, the cold front came through. It was only 62*! Still way better than what we left, though, so we were ok with that. We took a few minutes to check the weather for both today and tomorrow. Today it was going to get to the mid-70s but Sunday is only going to top out at 68*. And Sunday was scheduled to be our water park day. Yikes! So we made a quick switch and went to Typhoon Lagoon today and will head to Sea World on Sunday. My family loves nothing better than a water park. So we were PSYCHED and we knew that we would be comfortable with temps in the low 70s but we also knew that others would NOT be. So the park was EMPTY. OMG, really and truly empty. What a great decision to go to TL today!

I don’t have pics right now of the day as I used a waterproof disposable camera. But we did everything over and over and over. OMG, the leg work-out I got from going up all of those stairs. We counted, and we think we did THIRTY runs on slides! Do you have any idea of how many stairs that is?

So, like I said, the park was empty. We love Crush-n-Gusher but Kelly isn’t tall enough yet. So Jeff and I had to keep switching off as to who would stay with her in the big pool that is attached to CnG while the other rode with Riley and Cam. We just kept going over and over since there was no one else around. While hanging in the pool with Kel, I naturally struck up a conversation with the CM lifeguard there. Finally, she just said, “Why don’t you just let Kelly hang here with me so you 4 can ride together and not have to worry about switching off?” Ok, SOLD. We did CnG 8 times in a row. EIGHT. Awesome. And Kelly was hot stuff hanging with all of the CMs in the lifeguard stand. She was in all her glory.

Lifeguards at the water parks rotate positions like every 20 minutes. So you might see a certain one at CnG and then 2 hours later that same person will be over running the Storm Slides and then later yet you might see them at the Lazy River. And since Kel met so many of the guards, everywhere we went all day, it was “Here comes Kelly!” Disney magic at its finest.

We were done with the whole park in 3.5 hours. Seriously. 30 slides and tons of time in the wave pool. There was simply nothing left to do and we were BEAT from all of those stairs. So we decided we would head back to SSR, change, and go to the mall. The good one. The one Lyz loves. With Tiffany and Cartier and all of the other high end stuff. We promised Kelly that she could get her ears pierced on this trip. Cam got hers pierced down here when she was Kel’s age, so she has been waiting to come down here to get hers done.

OMG, I have literally never seen this child this excited. She was BURSTING.

004.jpg

005-2.jpg

It hurt worse than what she expected, but she still laughed her way through it. She chose pink, sparkly, flower earrings for her first pair.

007.jpg

Afterwards, we all went to one of our fave off-site restaurants…The Cheesecake Factory! Food was YUM. We had a few cocktails with dinner and just really enjoyed the time and the day.

009.jpg

Back to SSR and even MORE pool time. After all of those slides at TL, I couldn’t believe they wanted to do more! But they did. Jeff and I just hung out with cocktails poolside. Which is always my idea of heaven. The kids were worn out, so we went over to Community Hall, grabbed some DVDs and headed back to the villa. Watched a movie and they were DONE.

Bathtime and the end of another great day!

And just so you know, I am not sugar-coating this at all. My husband, when on vacation, is one of the most fun people to be around ever. We have a blast! So when I say that everything is roses and sunshine, it really is. Now, in about 4 days or so, you will hear me start to b*tch a bit him a bit. But for the most part, we vacation like rock stars.

Anyone up for chat???

Ah crap. I would have absolutely been up for a chat. Sh!t. Thanks for the compliments Liz. That line about weight and taking it for granted - it came from a deep and aggressive place.

Cutie - you better watch your words there sunshine.

Amiee - where's my pic?

Cathie - I loved it. That's beautiful. From a woman who had to run to therapy crying when someone complimented her in that way - I LOVED IT. :lovestruc Good for you.

Yeah!!! I'm on the thread in primetime. Another one! Just got back from my parents. My dad had his seventy flippin' fourth birthday. My mother is really sliding.

First we travelled in the opposite direction to see 15 minutes of a football game. And our nephew (Jean's) of course provided us with a touchdown. You should have seen him - deked them all and ran in for the TD. Sweet.

SATURDAY – our first full day here

So we woke up, and as promised, the cold front came through. It was only 62*! Wow huge change, eh? My friend was down last week and hated the heat. Still way better than what we left, though, so we were ok with that. We took a few minutes to check the weather for both today and tomorrow. Today it was going to get to the mid-70s but Sunday is only going to top out at 68*. And Sunday was scheduled to be our water park day. Yikes! Okay, enough about my problems in life. :dance3:

Such cute pictures. Love the one of Riley.

And just so you know, I am not sugar-coating this at all. My husband, when on vacation, is one of the most fun people to be around ever. We have a blast! So when I say that everything is roses and sunshine, it really is. So lovely Erika. SO lovely. Now, in about 4 days or so, you will hear me start to b*tch a bit him a bit. But for the most part, we vacation like rock stars.
Why yes you do!!

Erika! It looks like you all are having a BLAST! :thumbsup2

Cathie, that acknowledgement is always a nice feeling.

Lisa, Cheesecake Factory is the bomb. We have two of them here, love them.

Everyone else, hope you are having a great weekend!

For those of you who don't already know, I finally am at the end of my weeks/months long work roller coaster. In the last two weeks, boss and only IT guy quit and a member of my team was fired. So that means that of my formerly 25 person company (as of Sept 20th), only about 18 of us are left now, as most of the executive mgmt was let go with the acquisition.

Good news in all of this is, that I got my boss's job! Advancement to the next step up (management) is something that I have been wanting for a long time now. It includes a new title, 3 direct reports, and a raise. In addition to the 7% that they put back in Sept, from the Jan cuts, and the deferred pay we got. So, this household is very happy this weekend!

E. You know I love Kelly because she's just like my Em. She's just in my heart. But I LOVE Cammie bc she is YOU. Look at that smile!

I wish you all pixie dust 24/7 my dear girlfriend. Xoxo.

I ah-dore this picture. Look at her eyes looking at Dad. Love it.

Vacation sounds like perfection. Makes me happy. Jeff even looks relaxed this time around.

Yeah!!! I'm on the thread in primetime. Another one! Just got back from my parents. My dad had his seventy flippin' fourth birthday. My mother is really sliding.

Happy Birthday Lisa's Dad!

Awesome!!!!

We have a Cheesecake Factory. Well, Columbus does. And really, who doesn't LOVE A RESTAURANT NAMED AFTER CHEESECAKE!!!!! My only issue is, there is too many things on the menu. I can't ever decide without much angst.

So, this household is very happy this weekend!

:cool1: Kat - remember a year ago, you were at the bank and miserable!!!! Good thing you put yourself out there!!!!

Today is my 14th Anniversary with my husband. I know right!

I skipped church yet again. I'm to the point I'm more scared to go back then to stay home. Make sense? (Lisa, I'll go ahead and explain since I know you want to know. I used to go every week and now that I've missed so much, everyone will be all friendly and say "Lyz - we've missed you. Where have you been?" And what am I gonna say, "Uh, I'm lazy and hate the way I look, so I sleep late instead".)

We are carving pumpkins today. :goodvibes

Thanks. I would want to know. And - unfortunately ;)- I understand completely. Like that's me. Hope it passes Liz. Cause it's important that it does for so many reasons. I'm going to stop my hands from typing because who the he!! knows where they'll go.

We are carving pumpkins today. :goodvibes

What fun. Have fun.

Hey ladies,

I have alot to say, just no time to say it. I have another final tomorrow night. This one is going to be difficult, but not impossible. Will be back after a few hours. Hopefully, the browser won't crash on me again.

Hi everyone...

Not much going on heren this weekend.

Attempted some shopping yesterday, but came up empty. Nothing out there spoke to me (other than a pair of diamond earrings that were way out of my price range). Had dinner with some friends last night which is always fun.

I did treat myself to a new pair of sneakers for the gym. I got these today: http://store.nike.com/index.jsp?sit...p,pdp,ctr-inline/cid-1/pid-274806/pgid-142146

(scored a sweet deal on them too) Already wore them for my long walk today and loved them. I still need to find the right shoe for my princess training though. Right now, my long walk is about 3 miles, but once I start going longer, I'll need a specific walking / running shoe.

Finishing up laundry and trying to get over the debacle that was the Giants game this afternoon. :sad2:

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Hey everyone!

I hate that I've been so absent from here. :(

Just busy. and struggling to manage my time in the best way. The work part of it is going great. I did work this weekend, which kinda sucked but it wasn't totally awful. Such is the life of a lab rat like me, the labs never shut down!! It's the outside of work time that I am having a hard time with.

I did join a gym on friday, and did an hour and a half of cardio there! Its a gym called planet fitness. Pretty much no frills, but it is 10 dollars per month, no contract.

And I just ran out on an errand and was able to wear my LE puffy vest!

I hope to post a RR with pics this week. It's on my list!!

Thought I would catch up a bit while waiting for pics to upload so I can post today's installment.

I just don't understand why you couldn't just say "No I'm looking forward to sitting with them both but I'll get us all an A pass so that we're all together and we make sure you get directly beside us". Okay - okay I'll shut up. I do realize I'm no fun. ;) And that I might be missing some MIL reaction to that.

Lisa. I love you for saying this. LOVE IT. It's so in our theme - owning our sh$t and holding up mirrors for each other without judgment. Erika is lucky to have a friend like you. We all are.

I wanted to respond to this. Lisa, of course you're right here. That would have been the honest and mature way to handle this. But we all know that I am a competitive person. And in this situation I just felt cornered...like my back was up against a wall and I was being forced to do something I really didn't want to. And it all happened really fast with no warning. So I came out fighting. Fighting the only way I felt I could in these circumstances. The competitive person in me wanted to WIN and do it MY way, if that makes sense.

That doesn't make it right, I know. I reacted emotionally without reasoning it all through first. But as I said, I did the right thing eventually because, in the end, my initial behavior isn't the person I want to be.

OMG.

I simply can't read your TRs in an emotional state - late at night. You're killing me Erika.

My stomach dropped on this line. It just did an absolute free fall. You are such a wonderul mother. Look at their faces. There are smiling faces in life. And then there are SMILING faces in life.
:lmao: This is so funny because when I was writing that piece (about Cammie feeling free), I was totally thinking, "OMG, Lisa is gonna FLIP when she reads this!" :rotfl2:

E. You know I love Kelly because she's just like my Em. She's just in my heart. But I LOVE Cammie bc she is YOU. Look at that smile!

I wish you all pixie dust 24/7 my dear girlfriend. Xoxo.

Thanks, babe. And we ARE getting our fair share of pixie dust, that's for sure. This vacation has been 3 perfect days so far. Total perfection.

I guess I don't see myself in Cammie much because our personalities are so, so different. I tell you, that child is an old soul, truly. I only wish I could be more like her. Really, she is a role model for me, not the other way around.

Sunday – Animal Kingdom

Once again, we changed plans at the last minute! Initially, we had planned on doing Sea World today. However, we rarely do AK. Why? Because that park is always so freaking hot that it is not enjoyable. But the high today was predicted to be in the mid-to-upper 60s. So at the last minute we decided it would be a perfect AK day. So off we went.

Since Sea World opens at 10, that was when we were planning on heading out for the day. When doing Disney parks, we like to be there right at 9 for rope drop. Due to our change in plans, we got to AK at about 9:30. Not too bad.

DSC00244.jpg

I have to say, this was an interesting day for us. For so many reasons. First, we were COLD. In Animal Kingdom. It never got truly warm all day, though it did finally get comfortable at about 2pm. Secondly, we had so much more energy since there was no oppressive heat or humidity! I mean, no one got tired, frustrated, cranky, etc. We had such a lovely and pleasant day. And we didn’t rush at all. Just happily meandered through the park. Strolling!

DSC00278.jpg

Our slower pace notwithstanding, we still got a lot in. Our first stop—It’s tough to be a bug! Always a favorite for the kids. They think it is just HI LAR IOUS.

DSC00250.jpg

From there, we took the turn into Dinoland. For the life of me, I can’t understand why Disney did this. It looks like such a cheap, cheesy arcade-type amusement park. But that didn’t stop of us from doing Triceratops Spin (childish, I know, but Kel still likes it), and then we went over to Dinosaur. Now I know that this ride as a bad reputation and people think it is pretty worthless. But our whole family just loves it. We walked on to both rides, of course, since no one does Dinoland first thing in the morning. Which is exactly why we do it that way.

002-2.jpg

DSC00261.jpg

While still over there, we saw the new Nemo Musical. There has been so much hype about this show that I didn’t think it could possibly live up to its reputation. I stand corrected. LOVED it. OMG, so cute. It was a hit with all of us.

We decided to stroll the jungle trails and check on some of the animals. Again, we just sort of meandered around and took our time and enjoyed looking at all of the details. On our way over to Africa for the Safari, we ran into some friends…

DSC00264.jpg

DSC00266.jpg

This was particularly exciting as we have never seen DeVine before and she was ALL Cammie had talked about all morning. “I want to see DeVine. Do you think we will get to see DeVine? Where in the park is DeVine?” So it was awesome to just stumble across her!

Then we had to say a quick hello to Terk, Baloo, and Louie. First time kids have ever gotten a pic with Louie, so that was a kick for them. They are SO into getting new autographs.

DSC00271.jpg

DSC00273.jpg

Since we were in the right part of the park, and the timing was perfect, we went to see Festival of the Lion King. The show hasn’t changed at all, but it is still as entertaining as ever. It was Jeff’s favorite attraction of the day. His secret wish is to be a Tumble Monkey. And he could totally do it, gymnast that he is.

Finally made it over to the Safari, which was fun as always. Nothing new or unusual, but still a great trip with lots of photo ops. I noticed that our driver came to a complete stop twice during the ride. They used to never stop at all, so I am not sure if this is new (due to so many people complaining about it) or if it just happened that he needed to slow down a bit.

Time for lunch. Yes, all of this was before lunch!

We risked it, threw caution to the wind, and ate at Yak and Yeti, knowing full well that the reviews were not great. It wasn’t bad at all. And some things were really good. But the rest was just basic take-out Chinese type of food. And it was fairly pricey for what it was. Fortunately, we had Tables in Wonderland which brought the price down to where it should be.

DSC00323.jpg

The cool part about lunch was that we were lucky enough to get “THE” table. The one upstairs at the window, so you can totally people watch…it overlooks the walkway from Asia to Discovery Island.

By this point, the only thing we really wanted to do but hadn’t done yet was Kali River Rapids. But it was COLD. And you get really wet on that ride. Often totally drenched. So we decided to bag it in favor of just walking around, pin trading, catching characters, and shopping while waiting for the parade.

DSC00245.jpg

DSC00246.jpg

We had an AWESOME spot for the parade. Perfect. We were at this particular angle in the pathway so that they can directly at us (as opposed to us being alongside). Again, the whole family enjoyed it. We were all just HAPPY all day. Honestly, the weather made a huge difference. No one got cranky or frustrated. And with three kids and a Jeff, that is really saying something!

DSC00324.jpg

DSC00334.jpg

DSC00357.jpg

After the parade we decided to call it a day and so we strolled, leisurely, toward the gate.

Back to SSR—which, of course, meant pool time. It’s not a day at Disney without pool time. And to illustrate how NOT tired we were…when we got back to the resort, I went for a RUN. Yes, after theme parking it all day, I still felt fine to go for a run while Jeff to the kids to the pool. Met up there and had cocktails poolside, of course.

007-1.jpg

Evening was lovely. Got a DVD from the Community House and then all played cards before the kids turned in. Another excellent day!

Tomorrow will be different. I am taking the kids to DHS while Jeff goes to his conference. I have never done the parks with all 3 kids on my own before. It should still be on the cooler side, with temps topping out in the low-to-mid 70s, so I am hoping that everyone’s sprits will be like they were today.

Hi Everyone!

I feel like I haven't posted here in years, everything is kicking my bummocks at the minute! I feel like my days are work, gym, home to eat, clean, bath, bed then repeat the next day! I trying to manage my time better and I think Im getting myself into a nice routine so I'll be around more often hopefully!

Erika - I am LOVING your live TR! Your kiddos are so adorable, and you know what I love about what you wrote - they are genuinely so excited about the trip. Its lovely to read!

LisaV - Im glad you are regularly posting, I miss your posts!

Kat - FANTASTIC news about your job! Very cool, and Im really happy for you! :cool1:

Everyone - :wave2:

Back to work, hope everyones having a great day :upsidedow

Morning all -
Had a great weekend with Treyner. He is on his way back and should be back to Durango within an hour.

Work is going well.

Dan joined the Y last week. Picking up the kids from school and will be going there today. Plan is after school on days I do not work - 8 am on days I do.

Glad you all are well.

Kat - great news on job.
E - hope the rest of your stay is good.

I unexpectedly ended up with the day off from work today :woohoo: I can not tell you how freakin' excited I am! Hopefully I'll be able to catch up on a few things here today....

Erika - Please, oh please...will you adopt me? Please?

Amy - welcome back :flower3: Are you on a regular work schedule yet ? I belong to P.F. also. I don't love it, but it's better than the Gold's I was going to. Totally miss group classes, but my trainer has told me that a friend of hers has just opened a place where she does ALL classes. And apparently you pay by the CLASS! I have to check it out - because I would love to be able to go even once a week just to break up the monotony (sp?)

Paula - yay for new shoes! When I find a pair that I totally love, I tend to buy multiple pairs before the manufacturer inevitably changes their styles.

Dawn - glad you enjoyed your visit with Treyner. Are you still at WW? I need to get myself back into the tracking points mode.

Cathie - glad you had a great b-day party!

Lisa - You are made of fabulous! And I absolutely love the purple font! It really looks good on you!

Lyz - I hear ya on the church thing. I rarely get there from mid-May thru Columbus Day. But I'm back, and happy to be there.

Liz, EE, Ronda, Kelly (ack - who am I missing. Forgive me please!) I hope you all are having a great Monday!

Nancy - I was tempted to buy a second pair, but wanted to wait and get my walking shoes for the half marathon first. Oy - who knew that achieving fitness goals could be so expensive. I have spent more on new workout gear than I have on regular clothing lately. Guess that shows where my priorities are right now huh - :rotfl:

E - the TR is awesome as usual. Feel a little bit like I am there with you. Have fun today on Toy Story Mania.

Today is pretty uneventful around here. Catching up on some work at the office this morning and then an afternoon of meetings. I have JC tonight and am feeling pretty good about it. My eating is FINALLY starting to come back into the land of 'normalcy' which is a very good thing. It is not quite perfect, but I am getting there.

Question for you all -

I have been reading about fitness journals / food journals and the like. I am curious about what people are using to track their work. I am toying around with the journal on active.com, but am already finding it cumbersome. Any ideas / suggestions for quick and easy options are welcome.

Thanks

Hi guys.

Paula - good spending priorities!!! I don't know about journals. I keep my own when I do.

E - loving the TR and so glad you are having a blast. Happy to hear Yak & Yeti was not the pit reviewed. I wanted to eat there, but...

Molli is sick with H1N1. Yes, you read that right. She got a fever yesterday and a headache. We got into the dr this morning. She's got all the symptoms. Fever. Headache. Achy all over. Dry cough... They are not prescribing Tamiflu to everyone anymore. It's going to run out, so it only goes to critical cases. She just has to rest and drink fluids and let it run it's course. Typically a week. She's at home, in bed, sequestered in her room. The dr said everyone coming in has it. They are not swabing it and testing for 2 reasons. 1. The normal flu hasn't even hit yet. No one tested has it. H1N1 only. 2. Insurance isn't paying for the testing. It's $300.

So now to keep Madeline from getting it.

Oh and for the good news. I got reaquainted with my treadmill and weights this weekend. Whoohoo.
