DisneyGalUK RONDA - You snuck in on me! Good job on the mentoring! Is it quite tough but rewarding? My dad was a social worker in a residential home for children between 4-16 years before he retired and they worked with a lot of Mentors - he couldn't praise them highly enough!

DisneyWorldDelight - So sad. Glad to know someone willing to make a difference than just be sad about it.

SeptemberGirl - Ronda - anyone that takes any child to kid movies is a hero in my book. Really. And yes, having a 5 yr old, it's horrible to think that it might be so bad that she wouldn't be with me. OMG awful.
The mentoring is a good gig for me. Just be normal. These kids come from environments where adults are either neglectful or downright bad. I model appropriate adult behavior. Not exploitive, not abusive, just be an adult. I can do that! The movie timing was wrong for last night. We’ll see Meatballs next Monday. The geocaching was 50/50. The first one I suspect I keyed in the wrong coordinates. The GPSr wanted us to climb a VERY steep hill and I wasn’t going to bushwhack through poison ivy. The cache listing had it as easy/accessible - disconnect. The second one we found quickly. At first, my mentee, B, was mystified by hunting for a box in the woods. “Why?” As we started rummaging through the cache she warmed up and wants to go again.

I'm going to be perfectly honest with you - I have no idea what you mean by 10/3 intervals. Sorry. But I DO understand the HR stuff and the wanting to build speed. This is what works for me.

The 10/3 is 10 minutes run/3 minutes walk. I works out to running the first ten minutes of each mile and walking to the next mile marker : ) Right now that’s my January plan.

I ran this morning. It was a R3/W1 and I upped the pace to 11:00/11:12. Really ready to walk after three minutes, but did end up with faster miles to show for it (12;07, 12;32 and 12:05). I don’t think I could do that for 13 miles though. I had a cough afterwards and a couple hours late my throat still feels different (oh please don’t be the beginnings of a cold, please!). My HR max for for each mile was 173, and the average was 163. Higher than the R10/W3. If the forecast is correct, I may get some treadmill time Thursday. I’ll use your method.

Okay, gotta pay the bills. Work...

Ronda

Well, the woman on Glee is doing that! :-)

Kat, thank you. You're right. Thanks for reminding me.

Love you, babe. I'll call. And spew all over the thread if you want. Or disappear for a bit if you need to. Either way, we're here.

I'll be in and out for the next few days as well. Kel's surgery is tomorrow. Might be on a lot or might be totally AWOL. Things are not going well right now. Details later.

No faux preggers eating here though I do often think I am pg just due to belly size.

Not cheesey at all Lyz. Verysweet, really.

Paula--Awesome!! :banana::banana:

Liz--

Erika--Lots of prayers and good thoughts for you.

Kat--Seriously, keep posting your food when you can. Getting lots of new ideas!!

:grouphug: for everyone!

Run and core work for me today. And getting really excited for my upcoming 10k's!!

Off to shower, grocery store then work!!

Hi all.

I have been reading and more emotional than I like - so evading typing at times before I gain at least some composure.

Ronda - Friday night went well - booked a few more shows. Have 2 this weekend and then it is almost 2-3 a week until the end of October already.:thumbsup2

Paula - very happy for you. Beyond happy and proud. The race, the loss, the lifestyle. Everything.

Nancy - Treyner says he has gained 10 pounds of muscle. Was 178 when he weighed in at camp and now almost 190. His goal weight is 200 by Christmas. I can't believe what the transition will be to see him.

Happy for you and the weekend. Does he have a branch picked out already? Maybe I missed that before. I bet it was hard to leave. When do you see him again?

Liz - sending great thoughts to you.

Cathie - hope life is ironing out.

Lyz - I am expecting faux triplets.

LisaPR - good for you and the weekend run. You deserve it.

Erika - Praying for Kel

All else...:)

I swear I never noticed my "Aunt Flo" time much before. Now. I am an emotional wreck.

I have been crying for the past few days and it just is about everything.

You name it and it makes me emotional. Some things legit - some I know my hormones are dictating.

Baylor has game today. Dinner in the crockpot ready to go. Carsyn has home game as well I will make the end of. Plan on seeing her full game Thursday.

Treyner got the release from his coach - will decide if he wants to go to SC by Friday to visit this month.

Ugh.

That's enough to say.

Wow, I didn't know they had anything but ROTC participants...my friend today told me it was a fully military college. Maybe it was when she was there 20 years ago. She said there were 3 women in her company, total. 10% of the campus. I got her whole life story today.

Yes, there is a small civilian population. Don't know when they started that part however. It was founded as the first private military college and is the birthplace of the ROTC program...and remains one of the premier military institutes.

This is interesting. He always came across to me as laid back and ornery. Course all your children are. Tell me what traits let you to think this.

:lmao: OMG- he totally IS ornery. Surly was the word I always used for him. But...in a good way, if there can be such a thing.

Kat - on the sausage soup. Do you crumble up the sausage? Take it out of the casing? chop it up? What exactly do you do with it?

Liz - :grouphug: more prayers for wholeness.

Ronda - geocaching! Fun! We did that with the kids a few years ago. Hid some boxes locally ourselves....I wonder where that info went to....:confused3 Good luck with your run tomorrow

Erika- if a man has many wives it's what, a harem? So what exactly do you call it when a woman has many husbands? :confused3 (besides insanity :rotfl2:) Lots of prayers for Kelly!

Well, since you want to talk about weight. Anyone ever eat so much they think they might be pregnant? Cause that's exactly what I'm doing. I know I'm not pregnant, but thats the only logical reason why I can eat and eat and eat and really be truly hungry an hour later.

why yes, as a matter of fact I have. Then - I thought perhaps a tape worm? Because really -there is no need for any one person to eat that much and still be legit hungry  Sadly (or probably more correctly, THANKFULLY....) it was neither of those.

Dawn - sorry 'bout the emotional rollercoaster. And yes - he's Army. He has a break at the end of October, but is looking to go to do stuff with friends that weekend rather than come home - so we may not see him until Thanksgiving at this point...

Kat - on the sausage soup. Do you crumble up the sausage? Take it out of the casing? chop it up? What exactly do you do with it?

I buy it in a bulk roll (like a jimmy dean type roll), and then basically cook it in the bottom of the pot and keep chopping it up until it turns into cooked crumbles. It also provides a bit of "juice" to cook the veggies in.

One other thing I missed in that recipe is that I use fat free sour cream and not regular.

I'm not sure I've ever seen it that way. Then again - I don't think I've ever really looked for it, either! Sounds YUM! Can't wait to try it!

My frustration/vent for the evening....still getting short of breath when walking up two flights of stairs at school! Grr!!!

Listen. Thank you, all of you. It means sooo much to me to have your support on the junk in my life.

Wholeness - ah, yes. That would be awesome!

So.

Erika - thinking about you tomorrow and praying for all of you. Call me anytime if you need me, okay? I hope you activated the network. You are worth it.

Nancy - interesting re the school. How did Seth find it? Did a family member go there?

BL - haven't seen it yet.

Dawn - glad Treynor seems happy. :goodvibes

Cathie - stairs are hard! So just keep at them and they will get easier. Sairs sometimes come after other cardio.

Lisa V - thanks you.

Kat - thank you again.

Lisa PR - it was good to see you on here!!!

I spent the last 24 hours crying, and now I am feeling better. Thank God!:thumbsup2

Hi all...

Can't stay on long - lots to do tonight and I am exhausted, but I wanted to respond to some of the things I read today.

Liz - so sending your prayers for wholeness. Cry if you need to, vent if you need to, but please don't disappear on us. We are here to help in whatever way you need.

Erika - sending prayers for Kel. That little angel deserves a break right now. Please reach out if you need anything. Maine is not that far away you know.

Cathie - one step at a time (ok - no pun intended there, really). You didn't put the weight on overnight so don't expect it all to come off overnight. Be kind to yourself and give yourself the gift of patience. It will reward you, I promise!

I am reading everything - geocaching sounds like fun, turkey sausage soup sounds yummy and sounds like the college kiddos are doing well.

I am doing all right. Pushed some weight around tonight and chatted with Jesse about goals so am feeling like I am in a good place right now. Need to keep that feeling going though. OK - have to run. Chores are calling.

Liz, again. Anything you need. Really. Remember last summer when I was a total mess? So I owe you anyhow. :)

Cathie, stairs. Hard! There is a reason why the stairmaster is the devil.

E, prayers and hugs for you and Kel. See above, if you need anything that someone as far away as I can provide, just ask. I hope everything goes as well as possible for her. :goodvibes

Paula, glad that you had a good session with Jesse!

I am so not working out right now... focussing on food first, and getting my energy back after dropping from eating like it was my job to eating the way I should. I think I will start back next week.

I skipped hockey tonight in favor of grocery shopping and some relaxation time. I got a rather major bombshell (not entirely sure yet if it is good or bad) at work today that I am still processing. Just when I thought that rollercoaster was over!!

Food for today:
B: Coffee, ww white chocolate raspberry yogurt (100) + 1/4 cup trader joe's fiber cereal (30)
L: 2 cups pumpkin soup (120) + large dinner sized salad (100)
D: 6 oz lean pork chop (200) + 1/2 can black beans (200) + 1/4 cup 2% shredded cheddar (80).

Dinner recipe (credited to D): Microwaved the beans on a plate with some chopped fresh cilantro while grilling the pork chop seasoned with chipotle and ground red pepper and sprayed with olive oil spray. Added the pork chop on top of the beans, topped with the cheese, some thin-sliced white onion, and a few jalapenos, and put back in the microwave for 1 min to melt the cheese. Yumm!

You could probably also spice the beans more by adding red pepper, jalapenos, etc but I like mine sort of low/medium spicy. D kicks his up more.

Total, 830. Hmm, need a snack! Water, 64oz.

Nancy - interesting re the school. How did Seth find it? Did a family member go there?

No - we didn't have a family member go there. Amazingly, Seth & Stephen *discovered* it at a college fair. Of course, *I* had been suggesting it for months before they came across the little booth amongst the many, but hey, what do I know.

Honestly though - it had to be all his idea. This isn't the type of school that is for the faint of heart....

So glad to hear it Paula! I'm currently living vicariously thru your successes (no pressure :rolleyes1)....hoping to have my own feel-good moments returning next week, when with any luck, my life will return to some semblance of normal.

OMG. Watching too. BRUTAL!!! (I won't say anything else Erika.)

Well I'm not going to say anything except I could have swore I saw Beelzebub in her eyes. Just sayin'.

Well Liz - I told Jean that you were having a hard night and she says, "well please tell her that HER :lmao:Jean is thinking of her. popcorn::;):lovestruc

Erika - loads of love and good thoughts your entire family's way. I can't imagine how tiring it must be for Kelly - for all of you. Good thoughts.

And Kelly! Wakey wakey. Time to rise. There's Tandoori chicken, samosa AND garlic naan flowing in the air!!!!!! Heaven. :goodvibes

OMG. The tandoori chicken was - well could have married it. :lmao:;)
