In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate, VOL 7! Princesses? Nope, just us Goddesses!

Paula--OMG, you are so THIN! Holy moley! Loved reading the RR! And YES, join a local cycle club. WORD. I so want to join the one we have here, but their ride times don't work for me.

Nancy--so glad you had a great visit with Seth! I am sure it put your mind at ease just to actually lay eyes on him.

Shins--nightmare. Still. I am completely off of running right now (working with my trainer) and all of the miles I have been posting are miles on the elliptical. If I have a 5 mile run scheduled, I am doing 5 miles on the elliptical (at level 7, 8 or 9). I am hating it. And I am SO nervous that it is not going to translate to running miles once I am able to run again.

Nancy--I know that you went through something like this, right? You basically just did a certain amount of cardio to keep your cardio level up but didn't necessarily do all of it running? And then you ran your marathon, right? Am I remembering this correctly?

Liz--how was the week-end? Was it what you needed? And if you don't respond to me, I will re-instate the Bad Friend Award! :rotfl:

Kat--YAY for getting life back in order! Keep posting your food, please. It works for you!

I have been doing great with food for the past 3 weeks or so, but I am not seeing the types of results I should, given the vast difference in my eating plan from the summer (when I ate and drank like it was my job). I had expected a bigger drop but didn't really see it. And I worked out 6 days this past week. So....I am thinking of doing a protein cleanse for like 3 days. Not sure yet, have to read more about it, but will let you know what I find out.

Wow--weight loss thread! Who knew? :confused3 :lmao:

Paula.

I am so, so proud of you.

I have tears in my eyes. LOOK at you! You look amazing, you are doing amazing, omg, Paula! Really!

I hope you are as impressed with yourself as I am.

xoxo

Hi everyone. Just wanted to pop in and say super congratulations to Paula. You are a total rock star. And you should be SO proud of yourself!!!

Erika, sorry about the shins. I haven't been able to keep up enough to know what happened but I am still sending you :wizard:. Not running for a runner really bites.

Everyone else, I don't have the time I should to read back but I hope everyone is doing well and keeping up with their goals. I am just crazy stupid busy with this new jobs, increased hours, hours on the road traveling and many many other things. Shelby was invited to try out for a winter softball league (in Westbrook at Frozen Ropes Erika) and she made the team, 18U...she is only 15 in December. She is now playing with the big girls and keeping up well. She has an opportunity to play in Disney in February. :woohoo:

My other bit of news is that I am in for the last Race for the Taste. Hopefully it turns out better than EEC did. This was a last minute trip engineered by my dear friend Liz (TwoWDWFools). She emailed Mike and made him feel bad so I get to go for the weekend. My running has been sporadic at best with times and weather but, I still am hoping for an under 1 hour time.

Take care everyone. Who knows when I can pop in again.

First off - have to admit seeing the words Paula and thin in the same sentence is a totally foreign concept to me and I am trying to wrap my head around that one. Bear with me because it is going to take some getting used to! It is a good thing, but still - whoa!

LisaPR - so good to hear from you!!! Sounds like you are busy, but in a good way. Thanks for the kind words about the race. It has been a fun summer of training - truly. Have fun in WDW for the Race for the Taste!!! Please try to check in and let us know how you did.

Liz - Thanks so much for sharing your feelings. You made me tear up just reading your post! I am getting more comfortable with things and starting to enjoy the new me more and more every day. Like everything else, it is very much a work in progress. It is funny, I only see the drastic change in photographs. I still don't quite recognize it in the mirror yet. Ah - the human mind is a fickle thing sometimes. Hope you had a great weekend in Norwood!

Nancy - Good luck at the orchard today. We'll get you back to fighting shape in no time. I'll call Jill if you want me to... ;) I'm sure she and Jesse could conspire on new ways to kill us both.

Erika - I have similar issues with the clubs here, but I'm sure I can find a weekend ride that will work. Sending you good thoughts for your shins. Oh and thanks for all of your encouragement along the way. :goodvibes

Kat - Can you come up here and do the same thing for my house? I so need an organizer to come in and just do it. Pierogies - yum!!! Yeah for the new hockey league!

Lyz - Meant to ask - how are you feeling? Hopefully the meds have kicked in by now and you are getting back to normal. Glad you enjoyed my fashionista comments. I am going to need to start taking up a collection for new clothes soon or I am going to start a new bag lady trend. Can you imagine what Tim Gunn would say? I would be auf'd in a heartbeat without even the air kisses from Heidi.

Lisa, Amy, Amiee (yes, I finally warmed up after a hot shower and hot cup of tea), Ronda, Taryn, Cathie, Dawn and all the other lurkers out there - HI!!!! Hope you all had a great weekend!

OK - back to work for me. JC tonight so I'll post later with the results. Feeling good, but still need to reign in the food choices a bit. Like I said before, I am a giant work in progress these days.

Paula, you seriously do look thin. And you know that I don't lie. I won't say that you are supermodel thin, because that IS lying, but you look like a normal, average person. I bet with clothes that fit you would look even better!! :goodvibes

Speaking of which, email me as I might have some stuff I could send you. Or maybe I will find a way up there and we could go shopping... I am killer on finding good deals!

Liz, glad you had a great time with C!! I read some of it and it looked like a blast!

E, sorry about the shins. I must have missed this somewhere in the vacation craziness! Do you have an ETA on recovery, yet?

Everyone else,!

I am feeling so good today... here's to hoping that feeling lasts! :)

Hi everyone....

Haven't been around much since I got home, I know. I honestly think there should be support group for those coming off their high from Disney and transferring to having to deal with real life when they get back.

Just seems my "real life" now is a bit worse than it was when I left it. :(

Haven't been focusing on my food too much lately, but still trying to make good choices. Have my WW meeting today, so we'll see what the scale says. I'm hoping it's not bad news. I don't need anything else to add to my awful mood today.

I think the worst part is that the old me would curl up with some Ben and Jerry's for a good cry...and the new me just says shut up move on and deal with it. This is the only time I can think of that I have really wanted to be the old me....Serious internal battle going on. Hoping I make it out through the other side.

Hopefully will start the trip report this week. I have bible study this evening, but will try to come around at some point.

Hope you are all having a wonderful day.:flower3:

Hey everyone! I think I am finally going to be able to get back on here on a daily basis. I am off third shift, on second this week, and then first next week finally!!

My running is completely off track. Third shift, hurting my back, and las t week I had some low grade fever/achy deal. UGH. Feeling MUCH better today though. I sat down and figured out where I'll be jumping back into Mickey training!

I decided this weekend to do race for the taste! Woo-hoo!! And most likely race for the cure this saturday. Both 10k's and I will easily be able to make them into my long training runs for those weeks.

I am going to join a gym tomorrow. I just want the option of having other options for cardio.

Weight wise, I am up five pounds from my lowest this summer. I expected much worse.

PAULA--LOVE the RR! You look fantastic! And I LOVE the Pump Station!

Kat-Your dinner last night sounded good!

Erika--Sorry to hear about your shins still hurting. Ugh.

I hope everyone has a good day!!

ETA: NANCY-Glad you had a great weekend with Seth!!

Paula I am so glad that you have a rr up! It was really the only reason I came to the library today. You look awesome!

Everybody else - I glanced, but have to get back to work. I will pop in after my run and before my class tonight. I started carrying baby wipes with me to towel off after a run before class since I have a decent gap between work and class.

Um - are you saying that I don't look like a supermodel? :rotfl2: I totally get what you are saying and when are you coming up? I'll take you to the Pump Station for beer...

I am feeling so good today... here's to hoping that feeling lasts! :)

Me too - I hope the feeling lasts a long time... :goodvibes

PAULA--LOVE the RR! You look fantastic! And I LOVE the Pump Station!
!!

Thanks... we must go the next time you are up here. The brewmaster was one of the ride's organizers.

Oh and you know I am going to want a full report on the gym you join right? Don't make me get Lyz to hound you on this.

Amiee - don't work too hard today! Yeah for the runs you are fitting in there!!!

Cathie - hope your day gets better. Hang in there. Food will not solve the issues in your life. Instead of curling up into a ball, research new techniques for the cakes you are making. Take a walk, call a friend, etc. Anything, but eating... one hour at a time and you will get through this.

Paula.... Thank you. Exactly what I needed to hear today, just the support. Put tears in my eyes. Thank you thank you thank you.

.

That's so beautiful Paula. So beautiful. So beyond weight. :goodvibes

Hey everyone! I think I am finally going to be able to get back on here on a daily basis.!

My dreams have come true. :lmao: Yipee. :rotfl: Yeah. Love having you here Amy.

Paula.... Thank you. Exactly what I needed to hear today, just the support. Put tears in my eyes. Thank you thank you thank you.

Well that's lovely on all sides. Hope the day goes better Cathie.

Lisa !!!!!! So happy to hear how you're doing. I so miss your little sarcastic jabs. I swear they used to crack me up to no end. But usually they were directed toward hubby. So that's good for him and bad for me!!;)

Paula - It was like an absolute stomach dropping moment to see your pictures. Fantastic.

Erika - on the shins. How is Cammie doing with her hearing?

WTG Paula! Thanks for the race report. I am disappointed I cannot see your pics until later. I feel so safe behind my corporate firewall. Bad picture, bad! :sad2:

Nancy - So cool to see your boy growing up. Does the Corps of Cadets dominate the campus, or have they attracted more traditional students? Is this his dream? Did he go there knowing any other Rooks?

LisaPR - welcome back.

Dawn - how was the inagural party?

I ran four miles Saturday using a 10/3 interval. Went okay. I'm trying to go faster, but cannot keep my heart rate down. I want to stay under 170. At 46 that seems prudent and by all calculations the tippy-top of what I will be able to sustain. I plan to try my Tuesday run at a faster clip using a 3/1 ratio. We'll see. Any advice is welcome.

My commute this morning (bike) was cold. It was 49. Add a headwind and I get really whiny. I'm evaluating wardrobe options for tomorrow morning's run. Expected low is 43. I can ride my bike down to 20 degrees. I don't yet know how low I can run. Winter running advice is also welcome.

I'm hoping to go geocaching tonight. I am mentoring a girl/young lady (12 yo) at a nearby residential home. They serve kids 4-12 with behavioral problems stemming from abuse or neglect. I still tear up thinking about how bad it must be that the best option for a kindergartner is to not be at home. Anyway, the mentor program is just to model normal adult behavior. I'm not involved in her treatment plan. We meet for dinner, do puzzles and have been watching the "Saddle Club" TV series. She's horse crazy. Thank goodness we've exhausted the series! We want to go off campus tonight. We go to movies (GForce, anyone?). I want to see Cloudy... Meatballs, but the times are all wrong. I thought about Fame, but it might be too racy. Geocaching seems safe!!

Ronda

Hi Everyone

PAULA - :cheer2: You ROCKED that race - a personal record time!! And yes, you look fantastic on your photos. Im like Kat, I don't lie - you really look great! The first photo shows it the most for me!

NANCY - Glad you had a good weekend with Seth! :)

LISAPR - Im happy you stopped by to post! Sounds like you are keeping really busy!

AMY - Happy you will be around more! :cool1:

CATHIE - Hang in there. Step away from the ice cream. I have a personal battle with this myself, and I can honestly say it might make you feel better for a minute or two then after that :guilty:.* Keep busy, go on the dis, read a book, anything to occupy you! My personal favourite is picking up a really good book and losing myself in it - it also keeps my hands busy!

ERIKA - How are your shins? Are you any further along with your fancy dress costume?

KAT - Im glad you've started posting your food again, although here come the inevitable questions - what are Pierogies? Im going to google it! :rotfl:

LIZ - Hope you're enjoying your time with your friend!

LISAV - Hi!

My Pink Lady jacket arrived today! Im going to pick it up in the week ready for Saturday!

Food today has been really good, exercise is as much on track as it can be! Im really feeling the benefit of getting the train to work instead of the bus, the extra walking is doing me the world of good! Its my day off tomorrow so Im going to try the cross trainer, see how I get on with that. As long as it doesn't aggrevate my back or sciatica it should be good!

Hmm, a weight loss thread indeed! :rotfl:

ETA - RONDA - You snuck in on me! Good job on the mentoring! Is it quite tough but rewarding? My dad was a social worker in a residential home for children between 4-16 years before he retired and they worked with a lot of Mentors - he couldn't praise them highly enough!

Well that's lovely on all sides. Hope the day goes better Cathie.

Hi Everyone

CATHIE - Hang in there. Step away from the ice cream. I have a personal battle with this myself, and I can honestly say it might make you feel better for a minute or two then after that :guilty:.* Keep busy, go on the dis, read a book, anything to occupy you! You are completely and totally right. Three bites into the candy, ice cream, etc and it just becomes mindless eating out of habit. And then afterwards I sit and go "now why did I do that? I know better." and then I am down on myself for that too!!!

Thanks ladies :) It is comforting to know I have support, I just forget it sometimes. :grouphug:

My mood has somewhat improved throughout the day. It's come through the realization that these things that are dragging me down internally, well, there's not a single thing I can do about them, as much as they bother me. I have to just let things play out and they will happen as they will, on their own. They still all majorly STINK......but they are what they are. I hate being down on life, especially since things were all starting to really look up. But I have to focus on the things I have control over...like my eating, and make the best of them that I can, and try to put those good things over the bad ones.

Emotional eating is definitely a problem I have, have always had. Especially when I'm at work and that vending machine is just soooo conveniently down the hall.

So sad. Glad to know someone willing to make a difference than just be sad about it.

Cathie - I emotional eat also.

I'm actually working today. Yaay.

KAT - Im glad you've started posting your food again, although here come the inevitable questions - what are Pierogies? Im going to google it! :rotfl:

They are like raviolis, but stuffed with mashed potatoes and cheese (in this case anyhow) instead of meat, cheese, etc. I think the pasta dough, or at least in the frozen kind that I buy, must be less caloric as well, since I can have 7 of them for 130 calories.

The place I grew up has a very large Polish/Slavic population and they are pretty common there. Here, it is sort of a specialty item.

Ronda, I am so not a movie-goer so I can't help! Let us know how it went!!

Cathie, I hear ya on the emotional eating. I meant to say earlier too, I am so there on the WDW letdown. I think I am past it now but last week was brutal.

Nancy--I know that you went through something like this, right? You basically just did a certain amount of cardio to keep your cardio level up but didn't necessarily do all of it running? And then you ran your marathon, right? Am I remembering this correctly?

Similar, yet a bit different. I had some lower back issues as a result of a car accident and at that time all that running was really aggrevating my back. I ran a 1/2 on Columbus Day weekend, then immediately went into training for the Donald in Jan. For the that, I did a whole lot of cycling and not as much running. Mostly I trained for "time" not distance. For example, I'd hit the TM for 30 min., jump into a 1 hour spin class, then back to the TM or elliptical for 30 more minutes - thereby keeping my 2 hour cardio endurance level without the pounding on my body that running causes. I don't know if it would truly be considered a recommended training method, but it worked for me.

I think the worst part is that the old me would curl up with some Ben and Jerry's for a good cry...

Cathie - you can cross that off your list of things to do. This weekend I ate B&J (factory tour. Eating is obligatory! you can thank me later....) & did enough crying for the whole team.

Hey everyone! I think I am finally going to be able to get back on here on a daily basis. I am off third shift, on second this week, and then first next week finally!!

:woohoo: YAY! Amy's getting back to a more normal schedule! It'll be nice to get a managable routine goin' again!

I'm going to be perfectly honest with you - I have no idea what you mean by 10/3 intervals. Sorry. But I DO understand the HR stuff and the wanting to build speed. This is what works for me.

I do my speed intervals on the TM that way I can closely monitor/manage my speeds. I start off by running at a comfortable pace, where I know I can sustain my speed at a constant HR. I run for a good 10 minutes or more to make sure I'm getting fully warmed up. Then I increase my speed by 0.2 every minute for 5 minutes. Then, drop back to my "comfortable" pace for 3-5 minutes, depending on my HR recovery time. Then I repeat the intervals of increasing speed - but that LAST one, I increase more. So each time I'm doing my last minute at a faster pace, running for a total of a min. of 30 minutes, but eventually ideally 40-45.

THEN. 2-3 days later I run the random hill program (again on TM) at a slower pace, but I don't change my pace when the hills get steeper. Again, I warm up first (10 min) then do 20-30 minutes of the hill work.

Doesn't take too long and I'm able to run faster on my flat runs at a lower HR.

Did any of that make sense? :confused3

Be careful of that back Kelly! Glad to hear it's feeling better :upsidedow

Ronda - you asked a lot of questions about Seth. I'll answer them in a separate post...

Cathie, I hear ya on the emotional eating. I meant to say earlier too, I am so there on the WDW letdown. I think I am past it now but last week was brutal.

It stinks, doesn't it? Especially since we were there for so long, it almost feels like I developed a new way of life haha! It'll be a week tomorrow that we've been back and it already feels like it was just a dream. We can be the first official support group, yeah?:rotfl:

Haha perfect! Thanks for taking one for the team! :thumbsup2

Although I must admit that now I'd love to go do a B&J tour...jus' sayin' lol :rolleyes1

Hello everybody! My days of being stretched like taffy at work are coming to an end. I announced the team lead who replaced me today (think assistant supervisor) and the vacant supervisor spot is officially filled (and I like her alot). I can't wait for things to get back to normal.

I haven't read much of anything, but...

Ronda - G-Force was hilarious. Cloudy was cute but ok. Breaks my heart. It's awesome that you are doing this. It has to be extremely rewarding.

Amy - Getting closer to a normal shift. :cool1:

E - Tomorrow's the day right or is it Wednesday? I can't remember which. Good luck! Prayers and Pixie Dust

Nancy - How are you doing? I can imagine how hard it was to leave.

Kat - I love it when you post your food. I steal so many ideas from you.

Liz - I would love to know about your trip.

Lisa - Copper streaks will be in tomorrow. I am taking a 1/2 day from work for it. Well and to read two new books that are being released tomorrow. :rolleyes1

Lyz & Cathie - I have the opposite problem. When my life is in turmoil, I have to force myself to eat. Nerves kill me.

Paula - throwing in another YOU ROCK!, just because you rock.

Kelly - I'm crossing my fingers for you, hoping you don't have back issues.

LisaPR - You tip-toed in on me. Welcome back!

I think that covers everybody. I had a very short run this afternoon, mainly because I was hungry. Had some really yummy Mongolian veggies with salmon. My 2nd class starts tonight (5 week sessions). We have the same professor, so that's cool. We are moving on to Hindu, Buddhism, and Islam.
