In Search of My Body....Not the One I ATE! Vol. 5: Goddesses are Always on Top!

Back from the race. Cammie totally rocked it! More later.

Whoo Hoo Cammie!!!! So glad that she rocked it!!!!

Can't wait to hear the full report.

Reading everything and it looks like a quiet weekend for everyone. Lisa PR - feel better!!!

Not much going on here either. I am back from my training session and am about to tackle my closet. I hate everything in it and am in need of some new things to make me feel better about the way I look. So - some more retail therapy for me.

Have a great afternoon everyone and I'll be on later tonight for the full catch up / posting.

Paula

WOW. Dead today. Hopefully everyone was out enjoying a beautiful pre-spring day!

Family game night here...just on a break. Will likely be on later tonight.

Good Afternoon!

Not feeling the greatest today ~ just kinda here. Hope everybody is doing well.

Be back later

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!!

Not much to report from here, other than I have talked DH into doing 30 day shred with me. Apparently he has gained some weight back. He is no longer running, which is somewhat disappointing to me, but whatever. He got to the week where you have to run for 8 minutes and IMO, he was trying to run too fast, like 7.0. I tried to suggest slowing down or going to an earlier week. We shredded this afternoon while Delena napped. I think he was surprised at how hard it was. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I was SO SO much better on the cardio and Ab portions than him.

E-Can't wait to hear about the race!

Lyz-Um ,yes you MUST post pics of any coach purchases!!

Paula-What did you buy today??

LisaPR-how did your 14 miles go?

I had to finish off my box o wine tonight. It was leaking. Not sure why, I have not had that problem before. :sad2:

Hope everyone is having a good sunday!

Hi gang!

I'm here - just not too much to say. I'd surely love pictures of all goods purchased and every party gone to!

Book club last night - ate my little heart out. My friend Dawn makes gooood food. And the dessert was cannolli cake. Wowza.

Back at the gym today - this makes 4 days in a row. Nick came with me and we did a weight class. He was surprisingly receptive. I think he really hates being told what to do - well, who doesn't - but apparently my suggestions are taken like that. For instance, "Do you want to take this class with me?" is an affront. :lmao: But he came. And lifted. And said he liked it. Will wonders never cease.

He's also complaining about eating enough points, and he said "Do you know what I mean?" and I looked straight at him and said "No, I don't. I have NO idea what it means to have so many points to eat and not be able to get them all in." :rotfl:

But on the good side, I am feeling less hungry overall. So I have hopes I will lose this week, too. That would be awesome!

Erika - can't wait to hear about the race. What are tonight's games?

I did C25K w6d1 this afternoon. I ran in the neighborhood. It was a beautiful afternoon. I'm pretty sure all of the runs began at the start of a hill. Those and a little breeze really slowed me down.

DGF did w5d2 Thursday night and seemed winded - had the cough that persists after heavy exertion. I get it, too, sometimes. Anyone else? What IS it? Turns out she was getting a really crappy cold. I've pampered her all weekend, but tomorrow the dogs and cats will have to take over. They are great pamperers, too.

I'm going to see some old, good friends this week. One a former co-worker who was laid off in November. She and I started the same day almost 17 years ago. I feel guilty having a job. We've done layoffs four or five times now. They suk bad. The other friend is the widow of a co-worker who died following surgery for a broken shoulder two years ago. He tripped on a step at Easter brunch and Thursday he died. They were childless, in their 50s. The first year was so hard for her. I've kept in touch with her and bring her news of the people he worked with.

I'm going to use that one soon.

WARNING--Big Ol' Post Ahead....

Road trip to Food and Wine providing I GET a job! ;) I'll fly down and we can drive, Kat.

YES! F&W trip! And those of us who want to can run either the Tower of Terror 13k or the Race for the Taste. Funny thing...today J mentioned that we should plan on another F&W trip for this year! After freaking out last week about spending money to go to the movies! Crazy Train!

I am back from having my liquid Guinness lunch! Yum. I did have sandwich too.

Silly me, I thought Guiness WAS a sandwich! ;)

I wish I liked it, though, as it is a good calorie bet. Maybe I should try again, as my tastes in beer have gotten darker and darker lately.

J and I went out for drinks and dinner last night. I had a Black and Tan which is my fav. YUM.

Random observation.

Spring is here.

There was a tick crawling across my arm at dinner

Now I have the heebie-jeebies. :crazy2:

YUCK! OMG, I hate ticks! Poor Cammie is like a tick magnet. All 3 kids can be playing outside in the exact same areas, etc. and she will end up with 3 ticks and no one else gets any!

But this reminds me that it is time to Top Spot the dog.

Hi guys. Enjoyed the reading. To lazy to post replies.

Where ya been, Sven?

Beach to Beacon signups today. I am on the fence. I want to but yet I can't shake this I don't wanna do anything funk. Maybe the 14 miles today will talk me into it (or out of it).

I slept for 3-1/2 hours and got woken up in order to make dinner. Which of course I did...:headache: Then bed and here I am alive and well and not so ready for 14 miles today. I am actually a little worried about it. And yes, I will so be taking it very easy today.

For the challenge, I will do whatever you all decide of course but my vote is with the April 25th ending. That is my full marathon date. I need something to keep me going!!!

Thanks for the well wishes, Lisa! Riley had been doing great, but just this evening, Kelly was getting up off the couch and sort of tripped and fell back and landed right on his foot! OMG, the poor kid! He howled for over an hour! I'll have to call the surgeon first thing in the morning.

I am so sorry that you were sick! I am sure that long nap did wonders. But did you do the 14??? OMG, I would have totally given myself another day of rest. I swear, the planets have to align for me to get my long run in!

And yes, the Challenge will go to the 25th!

good luck with your race today Erika. And Happy Anniversary. Am I right in thinking it's today?

YES, today is our actual anniversary. And it was nice. We raced together this morning and had a relaxing afternoon. And J was just fun and relaxed--which doesn't happen often and is always so wonderful. Reminds me why I married him in the first place, kwim?

just in case you were wondering....a 14 mile run does NOT count as "taking it easy" :rolleyes1

WORD.

Feel better. Don't wear yourself out - it's so not worth it.

WORD.

Sounds like you had a great time! :upsidedow

Today - it's back on track.

And again, WORD.

Erika that cake looks awesome!

Thanks! We got so many compliments on it!

Good Afternoon!

Not feeling the greatest today ~ just kinda here. Hope everybody is doing well.

Be back later

Feel better, EE!

OMG, total Goddess Crown coming your way! 4 days in a row!

And I don't know if I ever told you, but I know this guy on Weight Watchers and he gets like 37 points a day! 37! Can you imaigne???

We have family game night every Sunday. And each kid gets to choose a game, so we always play 3. Tonight was Twister (which was a riot. Riley had to be the "spinner" and I swear he was cheating just to make us do impossible stuff! :rotfl2: ), then Pictionary, then Charades. We all love family game night. In the summer, we spend most week-ends aboard our boat, so we have all of kinds of games in "travel size" or the magnetic versions so pieces to slide all over the place. We can't be without our games!

I guess I didn't realize that Sue is running also! That is so awesome that you can support each other with this.

Ok, race report in the next post.

Erika - love you.

Race for the Taste? Tell me more!

Mr. 37 points is over there, trying to figure out what to eat. Pooooor thing. :lmao:

Back at ya, babe.

Did you catch that? RUN AROUND WORLD SHOWCASE! OMG, I would so love that!

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 13K & 5K
Saturday, October 24, 2009

What lies beyond the fifth dimension, beyond the deepest, darkest corner of the imagination, can be found at The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 13K & 5K. We invite you to run into the next dimension, if you dare, on October 24 at Disney's Hollywood Studios™. An nighttime race like no other you have experienced is awaiting your arrival, but beware, you may not return from your run quite the same...

Registration opens soon!

Yes, it is a night race! FUN! Aim has done it, so I will let her give the details. But I think one of the big perks is that racers get to stay in the park (DHS) after the race...and the park is closed to everyone else! How cool is that?!?!?!

Again, the 5k we can do today. 13k = 8.1 miles.

Hi Gang...

Quiet night here. Spent the better part of the night cleaning out my closet. With everything gone that isn't flattering anymore, there is not much left it in there. It is pretty sad actually.

Amy - Today's purchases were limited to a floral print cardigan and a pair of black dress pants. Nothing exciting. I wish I could get excited about the stuff I am seeing in the stores, but I just can't. I hate shopping in the springtime because it is all floral and ruffles and girly stuff and that stuff just doesn't work on me. It is very frustrating, but I'll get through it. Glad your hubby is working out with you. Jillian better watch out since you two will be kicking her butt in no time.

Liz - first you are at the gym four days in a row, than Nick joins you at the gym and now you say he is complaining about having too many points. You so get a goddess crown for that.

Lyz - miss you!!! I watched the NCAA basketball tournament selection show and it looks like my Siena Saints are playing Ohio State. I am sorry, but I have to root for my Saints (my sister is an alum and her and my parents are season ticket holders) so your buckeyes are going down!!!!

Erika - glad game night went so well. Family traditions like that are so important. We have Tuesday night dinner and that is a sacred time.

Ronda - glad the runs are going well and that you got to run outside. Yeah for spring.

LisaPR - hope you are feeling better

Amiee - how are you? How's the car doing? Any trouble? :rotfl:

Nancy - stop dreaming of purple satin (or satan depending on how you are feeling right now). I think you earned a glass or two of wine after dealing with all of those dresses.

Lisaz - how are you doing? We miss you around here.

Steph - how is the creek behind your house doing. Everything still dry?

Sarah - where are you? We miss you?

Kat - How has your weekend been going?

Roddy - what, no more poetry?? I was getting used to it.

Dawn - ??? hope all is well.

I hope I haven't missed anyone, so my apologies if I did.

Talk to you all soon,
Paula

Paula - thanks, babe! We need to schedule that shopping trip, huh?

E - okay, we need to find out about:

Routes
After parties
Medals

so we can pick one fall race to do! Like, what is cooler? What is the coolest to do? What must we be at?

Ok, night for me. I'm wiped!

See you all tomorrow - gang, weigh in on the races!

Loved TOT. Lots of fun. Cool to run at night (literally and figuratively). And it is great to stay in the park after. would have loved it more if the people who came with me didn't ditch me, but whatever. They have booze carts, if you are willing to spend a small fortune on craptastic drinks. (7 dollars gets you a freaking bud light) But you can probably ride TSM/TOT/RNRC as much as you would like! big advantage if you stay at BW/YC/BC you can walk back afterward. They also sell party tickets to spouses/family not running the race. SUPER cool medal too.

Would love to do RFTT since I have not done that one.

Also consider Expedition everest which is a 5K and scavenger hunt in AK. This can be a couples thing, or individual. And the bling has a real compass in it. Pretty cool. I think it is the last saturday in september.

The only race I have in October is on the 3rd. Race for the cure in st. Petersburg.

Ok, here is the info. on the AK race. Again, you get to be in the park after it closes to everyone else, and this seems like such an AWESOME perk. And you can still then hop over to Epcot for F&W! :thumbsup2

And here is the BLING for the ToT race and the EE Race. Couldn't find any of the Race for the Taste (RFTT):

everestracemedal.jpg

everestracemedal2.jpg

totracemedal.jpg

And here are the dates and some pros/cons for each:

EE Race = Sept. 26th. This is an awesome time b/c parks are as close to empty as they ever get. And F&W starts that week-end. But it is hot. (Race is at night, so it won't be a problem for running, just park touring.) Get to be in park after hours. 5k plus fun obstacles (they aren't hard) and a fun scavenger hunt.

RFTT = Oct. 11th. This is Columbus Day weekend, so there will be more crowds. Weather will be AWESOME. Get to run around WS. 10k or 3k.

ToT = Oct. 24th. Weather will be awesome, crowds will be moderate. Get to stay in park after hours. 13k or 5k.

 everyone. Too tired to comment individually.

Busy day of housework, hair-dyeing (yes, still black), 30 day shred + some 20 min cardio kickboxing thing on exercise tv, etc.

I doubt I can do the EE one, as I will be there Sept 13-18 and swinging a trip the next weekend would be dicey...

Happy Monday everyone!

The 14 miles went well (actually 13.78 due to my bad calculations on the route) and slower than last week. I maintained an 11:23 pace with a run 3/walk 2 interval. I nearly lost my Accelerade twice but kept it down and persevered. After the run, I crashed. My stomach hurt badly. I lay there for awhile, ate a sandwich, felt better and then went to sleep. I woke up at 3 p.m. and went "OMG BEACH TO BEACON", went to the computer and I was too late. What a moron. I was home at 12:10 and did not sign up immediately. E, I am so sorry. I talked you into it and I messed up. If J's company has any entries left, I would beg for one....:worship: :worship:

October race, my vote is ToT. I love, love, love that race. First of all, as you all know, I am an early a.m. kinda girl and running at night is da bomb!!! Second, my birthday is the 27th and ToT is my official birthday girl race. I ran the inagural back when they had a 6.5K (Mike did it too), the 13K last year with some WISH/DR friends and totally had a blast. I love the race. I have no position on RFTT or EE but some of my teammates have done it and say they are fun too for their own reasons. I have said no WDW trip this year, but I could be persuaded. Now Mike on the other hand....

Oh, and, for you families out there, the after-party at TOT....Mike babysat our kids and SIL/BIL kids as they ran the race with me. They get to go in at 9 p.m. and the race starts at 10 p.m. They went straight to TSM and rode it over, and over and over and over. They even got to stay on it twice around more than once. The kids totally loved it and actually asked me to do the race again JUST so they could do TSM while they waited. :lmao:

Erika, yay for Cammie and the race and I truly hope that nothing happened to Riley's foot. That must have been so painful! Poor guy. Nice cake too. Your talents never cease!

Ronda, nice job with C25K. All my runs from home start with a hill. The up side of that is that they all end with a downhill!! :woohoo:

Everyone else,

Tonight is bike or rest whichever feels right. I am a little sore but not as much as I expected. A bike might feel good. Tomorrow is 4 plus hills and Wednesday is an 8 mile run. I weighed myself this morning for post-LR curiosity sake and I dropped below the 130 mark...finally...we will see how long this lasts into the week. Are we taking goals for the next challenge yet? popcorn::
