In Search of My Body....Not the One I ATE! Vol. 5: Goddesses are Always on Top!

It just took me a couple of extra days to post this time around because (1) I was playing with the new format; and (2) SOME people :rolleyes1 were a bit late in posting their totals for the week. I think it has something to do with being Amish....:rotfl2:

And I was SICK.

Nancy--speaking of the Amish...you TEXT?!?!? :faint:

:rotfl2: Yep. Not a speed demon like the kids. But yep, I do

Have fun at the camp today. Hope you find everything just the way you left it.

So i think i'm starting to see where my problems are:

1 - i don't drink anywhere near the amount of water that i should. I drink some in the morning at/after the gym, then one glass with lunch,

WATER? Did someone say WATER?

Let me tell you about my adventures with water.

I was talking with my trainer last Tuesday. Complaining sorta. I have been totally "ON" for my food, my exercise etc. and my weight would.not.budge.

She asked me about *everything*. Alcohol (none), fiber (lots) protein (lots, lean), timing of my meals (every 3 hours)....totally ON.

Then she hit on the water. I *thought* I was ok. But guess what. I thought wrong. She told me she wanted me to drink a gallon a day for the next 4 days and let her know how I felt. A GALLON. Are you freakin' kidding me?

I didn't drink a gallon. But I've been drinking roughly 3 qts a day (yesterday was day 5 in a row). And my weight dropped. Significantly. Well, significant for me anyway. I'm at that very last nasty, stubborn bit that I'm trying to lose. But it worked. The water was my missing key.

So today she asked me to continue the water until next Tuesday, when we meet again. And see what the results are.

Water. I'm a believer now :worship:

I saw that too! I was sorely tempted to print out the recipe.

me too. :goodvibes But I didn't. 'cause then I'd make it. And I'd eat it. Best just to leave it alone.:scared:

Good Morning All -

Just wanted to check in before I jetted off to work. Been doing well at the gym, still enjoying it, so that's a plus!

So i think i'm starting to see where my problems are:

1 - i don't drink anywhere near the amount of water that i should. I drink some in the morning at/after the gym, then one glass with lunch, and one with dinner.... that's it! If i'm drinking 1/2 the water i should be i'd be suprised.... i have to work on that.

2 - i'm too busy. I keep beating myself up over this - resorting to convenience food/delivery/eating out so i can squeeze a few more minutes out of each day so i don't feel like i'm fighting a losing battle. I get annoyed with myself because i'm not the busiest girl on the block, if other ppl can do more, i should be able to as well. But then i realized, who cares what other ppl can do. I'm extremely busy for what i've been used to - work, gym, grad school and now the house hunting.... it's ok to take a few extra minutes to make a healthy lunch instead of going out, or to cook dinner instead of meeting friends out.....

Hoping i can step up my game and stop making excuses for eating crap! Hopefully this will start my weight loss back up, i haven't gained.... but i haven't lost in like 3 weeks. Not good.

Have a dentist appt tonight to prep for my wisdom teeth next tuesday :scared1: Less than thrilled about that, and it's at 7:15 tonight, how stupid is that? Another night completely shot!

I hope everyone has a great day. Can't wait til tomorrow b/c i actually get to come home after work!!!! :dance3:

As Paula already said, planning definitely helps. I am usually okay with making/bringing meals, but my husband does everything at the last possible minute.

So what we do is on Sunday, or whatever day is the least busy, make a WHOLE bunch of things... chicken, lean meats, etc., and then grab at those all week. Steaming a bunch of fresh broc, or any of the steamfresh veggies in the microwave and then heating one up takes like 5 min.

The other thing that I do, and you may not be able to depending on your workplace, is basically bring enough at the beginning of the week to make lunch for the week. Right now that is salad veggies and such, but back in the day it was lunchmeat and bread. The bread and salad veggies mostly stay okay out on the desk or in a medium sized soft cooler with an icee.

Now I have a small fridge at my desk that I got from someone here because it was icky and I bleached the heck out if, and that REALLY helps.

Steph--people drive their CARS and TRUCKS out onto the ice. And all of the ice shacks are still up and on the ice. One little ol' snowshoer isn't going to make the ice crack. :thumbsup2

Ok, gotta get moving.

Same here just won't catch me out there!

I'm with Steph. Just would freak me out, I think. :scared1:

Of course, around here there just aren't any big lakes - not by your standards anyway. And most years our temps don't stay cold enough for prolonged periods of time, so I don't think we typically get the same depth of ice you do.

I guess it's what you become accustomed to.

Paula you Like price chopper??? I guess I have issues with our because it is a small one. THere is a larger one in Plattsburgh but it is always so crowed. I have been shopping at hannafords, but they don't have great selection except in the meat department. I looked for a 24 or 36 pack of sliced cheese and they only had 12 packs, with 6 people eating sandwiches that doesn't go far. I do like Walmart super center ( but gee it doesn't have two floors, I will have to make plans to come see it and you can give me the tour! LOL)

Hi Steph - I do like Price Chopper better than Hannafords, but I have a huge Price Chopper near my house. It also helps that I live all of about 5 miles from their corporate headquarters and wharehouse so we get the new store redesigns and such. Hannafords is nice and all, but I never liked the produce section in the one near me, so I don't shop there because that is the majority of what I buy these days. The Walmart supercenter is something to see, but I am not sure if it warrants a special trip. Combine that with some other shopping and then you've got yourself a reason to come down here.

Nancy - thanks for the reminder about the water. My bottle was sitting at my side untouched. I just chugged down 8 oz. Gotta get that water in right?
So glad the scale finally moved for you this week!!!! Way to go.

Gotta run - off to run my errands and check on some of the sites.

Paula

Yeah, we have so much ice down here in NC I can't stand it!! Oh wait. I think we have strung together maybe 36 hours below freezing this entire winter...

/
Paula - staying the same, with your weekend away, is totally success.

Stacey - I'm not sure if you're looking for advice or just to vent. Kat gave good advice. I second it. I have a friend who is a natural nutritionist - meaning she has a doctorate in natural medicine and does nutritional counseling, among other things. She taught me two awesome things. One, read labels (which I am always on about on here) and two, make a shopping time and a prep time. Like, if you buy celery and it always goes bad, then leave it out when you get home. After dinner or whatever, muster up the energy to cut it all up and bag it. Then you actually use it.

I'm pretty sure Erika does cut up veggies like this, too. Now, does it make things go bad sooner if you wash them ahead of time? Sure. But don't you feel sad when you toss those dead veggies that never got eaten? I feel like apologizing to them! :rotfl2:

She, my friend that is, specializes in working with busy women - mostly moms who have jobs and kids and community work and are going going going but are sick of fast food to feed their family. She also says to schedule the shopping and prep time on your calendar. Like maybe pencil in shopping one day, and prep the next, and then you've already found that time. Feeding yourself is just as important was exercising. Well, more important to me, but I'm just crazy that way! :rotfl:

Good luck!

Erika - Please don't die on the ice.

Lisa PR - Did you get lost in the snow? :scared1:

Kelly - weigh in on those metric points, girlfriend!

Nancy - Word on the points. Maybe it's conversion, right? And on the water - how much water is that, in glasses, that you have been drinking? 12 cups? (I mean 8oz cups). If I'm doing the math right, it's four more than the recommended 64 ozs, right? :confused3

Cause I could do that! I could drink 12 cups instead of 8! And is this pure water, with maybe some lemon in it?

Oooooh HG! Watch the new videos. Funny. Yes, I had to delete the banana bread one immediately. Did you guys see the egg roll one? Now that would be great for an at home Chinese night! AND! Do you know about getting egg rolls from your local place? You call and ask them when they are making them and then arrange to come get some. You can freeze them and when ready to eat, just pop them in the oven. None of the deep frying and none of the work! That's a WW meeting room trick.

Heading out to the airport in a few hours. Hope all of you are well and maybe can check in with you all during the trip.

We are not eating out much and have packed Fiber bars for breakfast so have a plan on not gaining weight. Will walk a lot each morning and watch the distance.

Soccer is winding up and last minute craziness wil probably mean I will not be on quite as often as I have been. (Like Treyner just found out he is heading out of state for a college expo this weekend that was supposed to be in Mid March. Literally just found out this morning. :scared1:  :sad2: )

Take Care all !:lovestruc

This is a 3 banana minute.

I turned them in. 2008 has been documented.

I haven't caught up or read any posts. I will, just
happy about my lightness.

WHOO HOO!!!!!

She's finally done with the taxes and can get back to playing!!!!!!

:cool1: :woohoo: :dance3: :cheer2:

We missed you girl!!!!

That's about like Kat's list of food for the day. She can show me what she's eaten for the day and it'll be like long a-- list of food from here to yonder. I read the list and say, "Gee, Kat, that's a large amount of food you've eaten there, the list is a mile long." To which Kat replies, "Golly, gee willikers, I'm still way under my calories for the day *swoon*." :lmao:

Well, that's my interpretation of the conversation with added melodramatic effect for purposes of entertainment, HEHE! :rotfl2:

:rotfl: I would have LOVED to have heard that conversation! :lmao:

Do you mean to tell me that you don't get the 35 weekly points in addition to your daily? How can that be? What is WW doing over there? :scared1:

Nancy, Steph - who else is WW? Are you as horrified as I am?

Wow, Kelly, I really hand it to you. To survive on 20 a day, all told! WOW. :worship:

Also, tell me the secret of that super low point Chicken Curry!

And, no it doesn't really look like a lot! Barely anything! :thumbsup2

Hold the phones. You get 35 points AS WELL AS your daily points :scared1: Oh my, I am on the short end of the WW stick aren't I! We get no extra points - if I want extra points I have to earn them, by doing exercise. So out of my daily allowance comes alcohol if I want any, chocolate - everything.

The chicken curry - im not really sure of the recipe, my Dad made it for us! I know it had chicken breast cut up, low fat plain yoghurt, tons of no points vegetables and herbs - not sure what else! I will see if I can get the recipe from him!

Steph - I am a week behind on 24!

Kelly - weigh in on those metric points, girlfriend!

Here they are:

Breakfast - Bran Flakes - 1.5 points
Skimmed milk - 1 point
Snack - Sweet chilli and sour cream snack a jacks - 1.5 points
Lunch - 2 WW Petit Pains - 3 points
Wafer thin ham - 1 point
Lettuce and mustard - 0 points
WW Yoghurt - 1 point
Sugar free jelly - 0 points
Snack - Apple - 0.5 points
2 satsumas - 0.5 points

For dinner I am having:

WW Beef in black bean sauce with boiled rice - 4 points
Green beans, mushrooms, courgette, tomato - 0 points

That makes my total for the day 14 points. Which leaves me 6 points for a treat whilst I watch CSI :cool1:

Steph - I am a week behind on 24!

Oh good I thought I was going to have to up and move to England... not that I would mind that... I just love the accent! I think that is my favorite part of being in Disney is hearing all the different accents. But the English accent is my favorite especially on the little children!

The chicken curry - im not really sure of the recipe, my Dad made it for us! I know it had chicken breast cut up, low fat plain yoghurt, tons of no points vegetables and herbs - not sure what else! I will see if I can get the recipe from him!

MMM sounds good .. when I was on the LOW iodine diet.. during my cancer treatments, I used to make a curry chicken or beef dish. I diced up chicken breast and stir fried it with lots of veggies and made a concoction of cornstarch and curry powder and water. Fresh galic and ginger. Let me tell you if you follow a low iodine diet you can loose 10 pounds in a few weeks. Everything has iodine in it, the list that they gave me was half a page of CAN EAT and TWO FULL PAGES of what you CAN"T EAT! I did learn how to make brownies without iodine though!:rotfl2: I think one year that is all I ate was brownies!:scared1:
So I nixed the exercise on demand and went out side and played fetch with the puppy for an hour today! Lots of bending and running with that!
Ok off to see what she is into!

Steph, I am so proud of you for finding real-life ways to get exercise in. Waling at work, playing with the dog...I am so impressed. Go you!

Lyz, so happy you got your taxes done!! Are you sleeping now?

Steph, I second Liz on the fun ways to get your exercise in!

So, kickboxing kicked my behind today. I did a good portion of it with 2 lb weights, which doesn't sound like much until you spend 20 min or so punching with them! I was also able to do all 70 pushups, and 12 of them were not using knees, and did the walking lunges with 10 lb weights.

Yeah, we have so much ice down here in NC I can't stand it!!

Yes, but yours is the "indoor" kind. Not the "one false move in the driveway and I'm on my a$$ hoping I didn't break a bone" kind. :lmao:

But don't you feel sad when you toss those dead veggies that never got eaten? I feel like apologizing to them! :rotfl2:

 I do too. I feel so badly for them. Like I've totally let them down :sad2:

Nancy - Word on the points. Maybe it's conversion, right?

Maybe. It seems like there must be some good reason that we aren't aware of...Maybe we should call Fergie. The Duchess one. :confused3 She was a spokesperson for WW at one point. Hey Kelly - can you look up her number for me?

And on the water - how much water is that, in glasses, that you have been drinking? 12 cups? (I mean 8oz cups). If I'm doing the math right, it's four more than the recommended 64 ozs, right? :confused3

Cause I could do that! I could drink 12 cups instead of 8! And is this pure water, with maybe some lemon in it?

Yes, you're correct. 3 quarts is 96 ounces. Or 12 - 8oz glasses. She would *like* to see me drinking closer to a gallon (128 oz.) :scared: I told her "sure. There's a LOT of things I'D like too. But don't count on it" ;)

And I do use lemon & lime slices. Cut off a slice of each and throw it into my 2qt pitcher, fill with ice and water, Enjoy! (that recipe was for you, Lyz :rotfl: )

Heading out to the airport in a few hours.

Dawn! I didn't remember that today was the day you were leaving. Have a great trip. :cheer2:

:woohoo: YAY Lyz!!! Now you can get a good nights sleep too! :cloud9:

Hold the phones. You get 35 points AS WELL AS your daily points :scared1: Oh my, I am on the short end of the WW stick aren't I! We get no extra points - if I want extra points I have to earn them, by doing exercise. So out of my daily allowance comes alcohol if I want any, chocolate - everything.

wow. I almost feel guilty telling you this. :guilty:

We get our daily points (based on current weight/age/gender) and 35 extra points per week to use however we choose. Plus exercise points.

There simply must be something that we are missing here, because I simply do not understand how our points could possibly be equal!

Do you use a little slide rule thingy to calculate points based on calories, fat grams and fiber grams? :confused3

So I nixed the exercise on demand and went out side and played fetch with the puppy for an hour today! Lots of bending and running with that!
Ok off to see what she is into!

Awesome, Steph!!! :woohoo: You got to exercise and play at the same time!

So, kickboxing kicked my behind today. I did a good portion of it with 2 lb weights, which doesn't sound like much until you spend 20 min or so punching with them! I was also able to do all 70 pushups, and 12 of them were not using knees, and did the walking lunges with 10 lb weights.

Sounds like a killer workout, Kat. I agree. 2 lb weights are sneaky little buggars. They look all little and innocent. But nope. They get heavy! And kudos on the pushups! If I recall properly, that's more on-the-toes pushups then the last time :worship:

Thats sounds pretty similar to the recipe my dad used, but with the low fat yoghurt. I was surprised at how nice it was!

We get our daily points (based on current weight/age/gender) and 35 extra points per week to use however we choose. Plus exercise points.

There simply must be something that we are missing here, because I simply do not understand how our points could possibly be equal!

Im pretty sure Ive got Fergies number lying around here somewhere :rotfl:

Ok, so Ive just looked in my WW book and I definately do NOT get any extra bonus points :guilty:

We work out the daily points based on sex, age, how many stones we weigh, height and how active you are in day to day life. Any extra points definately have to be earned through exercise.

To calculate points ive got a WW points calculator, and the slidy ruler whatsit as well - we calculate points on Calories and Saturated Fat, no fiber grams. Very strange. Maybe I'll move countries! :lmao:

DAWN - I didn't realise today was the day you left either - have a fab time! :lovestruc

KAT - That sounds like quite a workout!

Yes, but yours is the "indoor" kind. Not the "one false move in the driveway and I'm on my a$$ hoping I didn't break a bone" kind. :lmao:

HA! On the ice thing, I totally wasn't thinking of the ice rink when I posted that. Just being plain ol' snarky!!

I try to check in at 96oz as well. Sometimes it is closer to 64, though, and sometimes it is closer to 128. Fat-flushing fun!!

One thing I really like about a class-based workout like that, is that it pushes me to an extreme that I wouldn't get to myself, if that makes sense. However, I am not really into spinning, and usually classes are more like happy-happy and less like Jillian. I just lucked into this one. Think 30day shred, with punches and more kicks than anyone should do, for 45 min, and with Jillian there yelling at you....
