In Search of My Body....Not the One I ATE! Vol. 5: Goddesses are Always on Top!

The girls were not trapped. They were stuck in the snow. Unfortunately, 4 girls no cell phone and apparently none of them equipped with appropriate GPS currents to tell where they were in space. They knew they needed to cut off the trail there to go home but had no idea how close they were. And UGG boots were not made to trek cross country in crotch deep snow.

Shelby has always been very directionally challenged. This winter we have made a point of forcing her to go out alone on the sled to certain points and then returning from them so she knows where she is. Yesterday, I was very thankful of that. Also that we have taught her how to handle a sled in deep snow and what to do in an emergency. I still cannot believe that 4 teenage girls left the house with NO CELL PHONE. Heck Shelby would be having a nervous tick if hers was not nearby.

As for the drop in points, maybe I can help explain that somewhat. Did you know that TOM requires 500 extra calories? Once this starts to slow down and/or dissipate and your hormone levels drop (35-ish) you don't require those calories anymore. That may be part of the reasoning for the drop in points. Sorry Rod.....

Ahhh. So they were just waiting to be found? Funny, because while I don't own Uggs in particular, you'd never need more than that here. Kwim? I have snow boots from Lands' End, just cute ones and people are always like, wow, you are so prepared! So to me those boots sound fine for getting home, but again, different world.

I do have real boots for snowshoeing that I use when I go north, but that didn't happen this year!

Tell me about the sled. Because sled to me is a flexible flyer. Tell me more. I don't know the lingo!

And WOW on the drop in points!!! I never ever thought of that. It makes so much more sense now. I was thinking, how could my metabolism and my friend's be so different when we are talking 3 years??? But it's funny, because this friend who lost a point is all, I can't wait for menopause to start! :rotfl2: She, interestingly, had a horrible time conceiving, used in virtro, had twins, lost one, and gave birth to a preemie. Her daughter is perfectly fine, and when she was two, my girlfriend got a little tipsy, had sex, and boom! Pregnant. She never ever thought after what she went through, that she had a snowball's chance in the tropics of getting pregnant. But now she's got two beautiful girls and is so over the whole monthly thing. It's done it's job, she says. :lmao:

We call the snowmobiles sleds. It is just faster I guess. You have heard Erika talk and the rest of us are no better! We have Yamaha 4-stroke snowmobiles. I have a Rage and Mike has a Vector. Mine has a longer track and rides better (girly sled). I also have full packs on mine for carrying all the mommy tools of the trade. Shelby rides Mike's as it is shorter and easier to maneuver or "cowboy" as we call it. Mine is better in deep powder though. THat extra track gives you some oomph.

My regular boots are from Lands End too, my every day driving walk through the snow boots. My snowmobiling boots are rated for -60 degrees and are thicker and higher. They lace tight so no snow goes down in them. Right now, if you step off the trail into the snow, you literally go to your crotch. Before the warm weather here, I sunk to my waist trying to get Mike unstuck.

Life is different up here for sure. We have a good friend who lives in Jersey and he was up here for awhile. He comments on the difference regularly. My SIL lived in NH for awhile and even their weather and snow accumulation was different. :goodvibes

Still trying. I see that this is going to take some time.

DisChallengeWk22.jpg

It looks great! So clean!

Isn't it funny that we are confused between jelly and jelly, but yet coke references cross the ocean? Ah, shaking head here.

Okay, we spread jam on toast and call it jelly. It's thinner than jam, less fruit parts, sort of a smoothed over jam. You don't have it there, Kelly. We do have proper jam and marmalade but they're not as country-wide popular as our jelly is.

And we call your jelly Jello. The brand name works as the common name, like Klennex or Zerox. Anything with gelatin is Jello here.

Lisa PR, I am so confused about the girls out in the snow. Were they trapped? We don't have snowmobiles here, I've never been, I'm confused as to why they wouldn't just leave the snowmobile and walk home. Because they were going to freeze! OMG!

Food and challenge - I have been tracking for two days. Tracking well. So much easier to stay on program this week. Yet, I have lost no weight and I know it's two days but it makes me angry. Seriously, I was like in junk heaven. Shouldn't my body be throwing the weight off, like life vests on a sinking ship???

Also, do you know my husband gets 37 points a day? 37. 37. 37. Omg, I want to kill him. The most I got, at 237 mind you, was 29. He gets 37!!! I could go to town on 37! 37 is like a splurge day where I get drunk!

And on points...I don't want to alarm my friends, but did you know that when you get past age 38 you drop down a point? Yes! So if you are in the 170's and you have 23 points, now you have 22! My friend just aged out, so she lost a point. So, Erika, you should have, I am sorry to say, 19 points at 135. But, you only get 18 now!!! Plus your 35. So you'd get max 23 if you spread your points out like Nancy does. So Nancy, your max is like what? 24? God, that's so unfair.

And that, my dear Lyz, is whining. Now let's see what you've got!

Wow, must be nice for your hubby! That's alot of points. And the aging ~ doesn't seem fair. :confused3

Yummy yummy, sitting at my friend's coffee shop enjoying a sugar free latte.

Good morning to all. It was C25K W3D3 today.

I have a question about scales. I have access to a doctor’s office style scale (the slidy beam one) at the gym. I trust it and consider it to be the final arbiter of my weight. Our scale at home is a garden variety Health O Meter. It is always a few pounds off – both ways – from minute to minute - from what the accurate scale shows. I see people posting VERY precise weights. If you have a home scale you trust, tell me about it.

Ronda

ETA - post 1000!!!!

Hey Ronda. I have a digital WW scale. I think it's their lowest end model. I've never thought it was off. Unfortunately. :rotfl:

HEY there
I am home and a awake. I swear I slept all day yesterday!

On a sad note my friends little girl Christina (the one I told you all about) she passed away on Monday. I am sad for the family but kinda relieved for them also. She has been sick so long and hasn't been outside of Children's hospital since September. The last time I think she was out is when they did their WISH trip to Disney. So keep her family Nicole, Bill & Connor in your prayers.
Ok off to see what the boys are up to! Download Pictures and Finish up my F A V O R I T E chore! :laundy:

I'm so sorry Steph. That's sad. Beyond sad. I'm so sorry.

Have I told you lately how much I love you? :lovestruc

Stop flirting with me woman!!!

Well, unless you want to take me to Mexico and then you can flirt away. :lmao:

:lmao:
This is the absolute Gods honest truth - when I was younger according to my Mum my life's ambition was to be a White Line - as in the white line in the middle of the road that seperates the lanes.
She did tell me to go for it, as Im tall enough to be a nice long white line! :rotfl2:

OMG. :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl:

Dont tell anyone, but my trousers feel a little loose! :cool1:

Nice Kelly. :woohoo:

Oh, phew! I'm glad you clarified that. At the beginning, I was under the impression you wanted to be a line of coke. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

Hey everybody!

Things are crazy busy here. My car is on the fritz

I'm sorry but that car has its own agenda.

FUN OT COMMENT...

So I just started a new class this week, and one of my students works for DVC! She posted it in her intro. Of course I was all over that, told her that I am an owner, that I love it, etc. So now she starts all of her projects with, "Welcome Home, Doc...." HA! She is SO getting an A!

Too funny.

Good morning ladies and gent! Sorry for the MIA-ness but life is pretty full right now.

I am here to report that, being mid-challenge, I did my calculations again. I am currently at -3 inches and -1.7% body fat. I also put in 25.45 miles over the week. I weighed and am down 2 pounds from the challenge start. So, I am on track to reach my goals and feeling good about that.

Yesterday was a pretty laid back day for me what with the snow and everything canceled. I was nearly done work when a frantic neighbor called and her 2 daughters along with 2 other girls had been riding on one snowmobile around her house and disappeared from the property. This woman had been out walking the trails looking for them for 2 hours and could not find them. Shelby volunteered to hop on one of our sleds and track them on the trails around here. She found where they had gotten stuck a few times and then found them within walking distance of their house so stuck that there was no way they were getting out. The girls were dressed in hat, mittens, tee shirt and light jackets, flannel pajama pants and UGG boots with no helmets. Shelby said they were frozen when she found them. Shelby had also found the mom who was walking the trails and put her on the back of our sled to go searching. When I took David to hockey 3 hours later, I saw the mom and the man she lives with walking out of the woods with shovels and the snowmobile freed. Talk about losing the ability to breathe. When the mom told me how the girls were dressed, I nearly died. Shelby could tell I was upset on the phone and in hearing part of the conversation she was already dressed and helmet on by the time I was done talking. Anyway, all home safe and sound and yeah, so much for my "relaxing" afternoon...:sad2:

So, today I have to take the girls to the gym, David to free skate, still clean the house (did I mention the cleaning lady is sick...AGAIN), do the laundry and general daily household crap. David has a swim meet tomorrow, Shelby has field hockey practice at the same time and then Sunday is off to Hampton, NH for a field hockey tourney until late late late at night.

Take care everyone and have a great weekend. I will check in again when I can!

Geez Lisa on the girls.

And you - congrats to you. Fantastic results. :thumbsup2

That is where I'm at. I literally have nothing to say. Unless you want to hear wining.

:lmao:

So shinsplints. I've got em. I wansn't paying attention to what you were perscribing to Amy. Am I supposed to power thru the pain. Rest it. Put icy hot on? Ice in a bag? Ramp down my workout? TIA.

Whine away. I so miss you.

Progress to goal:
Exercise at least 4x -- exercised 6x (but yanked a calf muscle on Wed, so I'm toning it down next week)
Snacking -- rocky couple of days early in the week, okay for the last 3
Weight loss -- down 0.2 lbs this week. Not much, but considering the snacking and that it's TOM, I still consider it progress. That makes 3.2 lbs total towards my 5 lb goal in this challenge.

Glad it's Friday -- I'm sick of being at work. Have a great day, everybody. :yay:

Look at you on the challenge. Almost there. Way to go Lisa. :woohoo:

Still trying. I see that this is going to take some time.

DisChallengeWk22.jpg

Thanks for doing all this Erika. Appreciate it.

Me -

Exercise - bang on

Consciously eating - off the rails. Not good. Emotional.

Celebrating - just okay.

I'm really off and I don't seem to care. Not great. But so tired.

Amy - I've somehow missed your results. I'm going to go back and check. Congrats to you!!!!

Hey Girls and Guy!

Checking in early with Challenge stuff for this week since little D and I are going to NC tonight.

1. Exercise: Long run=Done. C25K 2/3. Core 2/2 (once I do core again today)
2. Tracking 3/3
3. Wagon: off last night for girl's night out. But on otherwise
4. Weight: DOWN 2 pounds this morning. 185.5. So, 2.5/5 for the challenge so far.

!

Here it is. Amy! First, have fun. Second, congrats on rockin' the challenge.:thumbsup2

185.5. Fantastic Amy.

I think, pretty sure, that's right near my goal weight. I'm thinking 188 but I'll know when I get there or near. Somewhere between 178 and 195 is what my past and intuition is telling me.

Can somebody send me the C25k link? I read about it on here everyday, so I might as well try it out. If my knees can't handle the running, I can at least walk it.

Well gang, I have procrastinated enough. Time to get to work. Later Taters!

So here's my question. Does only water count as water? I know that with WW, you can substitute a certain percentage of your water with "Crystal Light" type of stuff (sugar-free, calorie-free, caffeine-free, powdered drink mix). And I think it is NurtiSystem that also allows for this same substitution.

I've heard differing opinions as well. Some will say as long as it's "clear" (like the Crystal light, or diet sprite for example), low or no calories, caffeine, or sodium then you can count towards your "fluids". Others say water only. I don't know if there really is any one correct answer. But I believe that the less chemicals you put in your body, the better off you are, so while I do like to indulge in a Fresca now and then, I pretty much stick to just plain water. None of the "flavored" or "enhanced". Just tap.

And now, I'm drinking even more. :rolleyes1

LisaPR - Glad your daughter kept her head and was able to help those girls. I hope they *learned* something from this experience

Jelly on toast? :scared1: My sugar free jelly is more like Jello - wobbly! Is jelly (the toast kind) like jam or marmalade?

:rotfl: The thought of gelatin (our Jell-o, your jelly) on toast? too funny!

Jam, Marmalade, Jelly. Very similar products here. Jam & Marmalade are made with mashed up fruit. Jelly is made from just the juice of the fruit, so it's smooth - no chunks.

So shinsplints. I've got em. I wansn't paying attention to what you were perscribing to Amy. Am I supposed to power thru the pain. Rest it. Put icy hot on? Ice in a bag? Ramp down my workout? TIA.

OH NO! :headache: That stinks, Lyz.

I'm an avocate for advil (ibuprophen), for pain & swelling ,ice & don't do anything that hurts kind of person.

I am still wiped out from my workout yesterday. Jesse admitted that he was totally kicking my butt yesterday and my body is screaming proof of that today. Ugh... is about all I can say. I'll get over this, but I just needed to whine a little bit (or maybe I just need some wine - hmmm?).

I'm assuming it's still a "I'm pushing myself and getting stronger" kind of hurt, not an "oh crap I injured myself" hurt. :confused3

You are continually amazing me. I read your workout from last night and my muscles were fatigued just at the thought

Infuriating, isn't it

And on points...I don't want to alarm my friends, but did you know that when you get past age 38 you drop down a point?

LA LA LA LA LA. (sticks fingers in ears) I'M NOT LISTENING!:rotfl2: Totally not fair.

Congrats to all the losers out there. You guys are awesome :thumbsup2 I'll post my challenge results a bit later

I also learned something new - I just assumed Satusumas were a Universal kind of thing! :rotfl: It is a bit like a clementine, but satsumas can be very sweet!

Jelly on toast? :scared1: My sugar free jelly is more like Jello - wobbly! Is jelly (the toast kind) like jam or marmalade?

:rotfl2:

Erika, basically I just ramped up my core work and my miles. I also started consciously eating every 2 hours hungry or not and making better filling choices with what I am eating. I am being very careful with my post run snack that it is high density and high protein. A PB and banana wrap is working well for me currently.

I am only keeping track of my chest, waist and hip measurements currently and I lost 2 inches off my waist. This is definitely due to the core work and cutting the fat/calories in my diet. I may have found a balance that is working for me.

Thanks for saying hi too, I thought I was starting to smell or something! :rolleyes1

I have been doing the eating more often and smaller thing too. I think my coworkers think I am a grazer.

Sorry about not saying hi... I don't think I have seen you here much this week? Although my week has been a sleep-deprived and pain-induced haze due to the tournament last weekend... did I ever post pics here? I know I did on facebook.

We call the snowmobiles sleds. It is just faster I guess. You have heard Erika talk and the rest of us are no better! We have Yamaha 4-stroke snowmobiles. I have a Rage and Mike has a Vector. Umm, boots? I have 3" heeled dress boots (wearing them).

OH Lyz!!! I bought gloves last week! I have even needed them twice! They are black leather, lined, driving gloves that I got for $5 on clearance (as winter is almost over here). :)

I've heard differing opinions as well. Some will say as long as it's "clear" (like the Crystal light, or diet sprite for example), low or no calories, caffeine, or sodium then you can count towards your "fluids". Others say water only. I totally agree. I couldn't put into words below why I drink it plain, but that is a good reason. For me it is more that I know I put chemicals in in other ways (dt soda, etc) so I am hoping the plain water will flush that out, as well as other things like metabolized fat and waste products.

Also, on the low carb thing I am doing this month, water is crucial. You have a high level of waste product from metabolized fat (ketone bodies) and the extra water helps your body to get rid of that safely.

How much water did your trainer recommend?

Oh, E, I am totally OT. Under 1200 every day, all my water, no alcohol, and am 3/5 on the exercise, going to do today and tomorrow as well to make it 5/5. 890/1200 so far on the minutes.

I'm assuming it's still a "I'm pushing myself and getting stronger" kind of hurt, not an "oh crap I injured myself" hurt. :confused3

You are continually amazing me. I read your workout from last night and my muscles were fatigued just at the thought

Nancy - I am not sore as in an injured kind of way. My muscles are just reminding me at the moment that I got my butt kicked last night and they are not happy about it. Too bad and get used to it is what I am telling them, but what I really want to do now is sleep. I am so scheduling a massage as soon as I hit my 50 pound mark. I need some relaxing me time and quick.

Thanks again for the support. I am getting closer to where I want to be every day with help from you all.

LA LA LA LA LA. (sticks fingers in ears) I'M NOT LISTENING!:rotfl2: Totally not fair.

Too funny... :rotfl2:

Congrats to all the losers out there. You guys are awesome :thumbsup2 I'll post my challenge results a bit later

I cannot tell you how hard I laughed at this! :rotfl2:

It's SO not fair. And did I mention Nick gets 37 points? 37!!!

It just plain sucks that guys get to the faster metabolism (sorry Roddy, but it does). 37 points? That is an insane amount of food. Oh and don't even get me started on taking the point away after you hit 38. Um, that means I lose a point in September people. That is so not fair!!!!

Ok, water. I have questions. We all know that a minimum of 64 ozs. per days is optimal for not only weight loss but overall health. (Yes, there was that ONE study from last summer which said that we don't actually need that much water for weight loss, but that study stands alone...everyone else says you need water.)

What about things like decaf green tea? With nothing added to it? By the same logic as goes for Crystal Light, this should count as a water substitute, right?

What does everyone think?

I drink unsweetened black tea (I hate green tea) and I consider it the same as water. I mean, I've thought about it and in my world of logic (which I do understand may not always be that 'logical':lmao: ) I don't see why it or green tea, would be counted other wise. I make it from tea bags, so it doesn't have artificial sweeteners in it and it's just water that has the flavor of tea in it. So, I just think of it like it's water.

I don't have much. Just my taxes. I'm currently working on the travel category. Remember we started out last year in El Paso. Ahhhhhhh! Ok, just had to get that out of my system.

Liz - How old is Nick? Is that point drop only for women? So sexist!

:goodvibes

I can't imagine. I don't even have snow boots. I've got mucking hog pen boots, but no snow boots. Not necessary most of the year.

I'm sorry but that car has its own agenda.

That was funny. Amiee - your car is telling you something. hehe.

Consciously eating - off the rails.

Good description. That's where I'm at.

I'm an avocate for advil (ibuprophen), for pain & swelling ,ice & don't do anything that hurts kind of person.

I had my treadmill on the incline and they were killing me. I put it down and got thru my workout fine.

LA LA LA LA LA. (sticks fingers in ears) I'M NOT LISTENING!

:rotfl: You are such a 6 year old.

My check in. I am exercising. That's good. My weight. I'm UP 2 lbs. It's cause I'm eating like a bear getting ready for hibernation. So, off track for weight and off track for eating conciously. It seems I have one track only.

Kelly - I read alot of fiction. Anywhoo, do the Brits drink as much tea as the books say they do? Like, have a spot of tea when stressed? Or tea couple times a day?

And I lost this little ditty.

OH Lyz!!! I bought gloves last week! I have even needed them twice! They are black leather, lined, driving gloves that I got for $5 on clearance (as winter is almost over here). :)

Will wonders never cease? Kat, you spent money on something you might only need 2 times a year? Glory be.

*Stabs self in eye with dull pencil for potentially having a higher metabolism. :scared1:
