In Search of My Body....Not the One I ATE! Vol. 5: Goddesses are Always on Top!

E, if I were dating or married to someone who wasn't a hockey fan, they would totally be a hockey widower, esp during the playoffs. So there, gender stereotypes! :upsidedow

The NHL team I follow is unfortunately sucking. I may go to the game tomorrow anyhow, if I can get a cheap seat. D's bro gave him one.

However, we did win my game tonight, 1-0. Not because of me, mind you.

Aw come on! It has been so long since we have been on at the same time and played! :rotfl2:

I know!

Steph - not bad as I pictured it either. A whole green and black head, horrendous. Bottom tips, no big deal at all. She's 14. Actually, the Easter bunny left temporary hair coloring in the baskets here and Mad has had a blue streak and Mol purple.

Shouldn't you be doing :laundy:.

Good Morning!!!

It is raining here so it is a yucky day... Good for catching up on paperwork though.

Steph - the hair isn't so bad. Not sure about the fact that she didn't ask you, but it could have been worse.

Erika - I have no preference for where we stay. I just want a bed and a shower. I'll be in my happy place so all will be good. Besides, your plan sounds like a good one to me and I'll start crossing my fingers now for BVT.

Lyz - Thanks for the back story on Steve and Joe. They are awfully cute.

OK - gotta run to a meeting so I'll have to check in with the rest of you later.

Have a magial day everyone!!!! :wizard:

Morning!

LISAPR--SAFE TRAVELS! You are in the air right now! At least you have a good week to get out of Maine. I forgot to ask if you are bringing a laptop?? We will want constant reports and updates!

Notice I said SPOUSE, not husband? :rotfl2:

Raining like hell here and I have all 3 kids home all week. Yikes. Time to get creative.

So, I have good news. Um, I have actually LOST! :cool1: I would love to lose 5 pounds in the next 2.5 weeks. That sounds so do-able, doesn't it? Yeah, I know, I know...:rotfl2:

WHOO HOO!!!!! :cool1::woohoo: Congrats on the loss!!!

This is huge news!!! I am so freaking happy for you right now that I can't stand it...

Thanks, Paula! I have been big time stressing that I wouldn't be able to wear any of my summer stuff for the cruise. But I tried on 3 or so outfits this morning that I have been dreading putting on, fearing that they would be too tight and I would be bulging out all over the place. They FIT and looked good! Phew! Now, I do have a pair of "goal pants" that I am super close to fitting into. Like 5 pounds away. OMG, I would so love to be able to wear them on the cruise. So that is my new motivation.

Ronda?
Roddy?
Stacey?
Sunny?

Come out and play!

Good Morning All and Sundry! :lmao:

Sorry I've been scarce but, there again, maybe yall aren't sorry I've been scarce. But I digress. :rotfl:

It's time for the "Roddy farm report". The zucchini and squash have broken the ground and are on their way to being salted, peppered and roasted to al dente perfection in my oven, though that is still a while off. Plus The Hockey Kat :cat: has promised to teach me her zucchini pizza recipe, so I'm ready to make one when they're pick-able. So, they're growing and that's good. The cucumbers have yet to make an appearance but hopefully they will soon. As for the tomatoes and peppers, well, it frosted here last Friday night and killed my peppers and tomatoes. Not such a loss for the tomatoes as far as I'm concerned but I mourned the peppers. So, I had to go and buy a few more peppers and tomatoes to plant and they're now in the ground.

I don't have a green thumb so growing food is a battle for me! :rotfl2:

OH OH SO NOT FAIR YOU STILL HAVE DIRTY SEXY MONEY!! NOT FAIR AT ALL ! I don't think we have had them since the network strikes!
[/COLOR]

I  Dirty Sexy Money! The series only started a few weeks ago so still a few episodes to go!

Kelly and Paula - needing trip info. NOW.

Catching up at some point. Qs for Kelly. #1 How was she?

So Kelly - #2 -

After you tell me she behaved -

How is your hubby feeling?

Nice weather?

Wedding stories?

Did MIL comment as white dress went by?

Breathtaking views?

#1 - She was ..... interesting! :rolleyes1

#2 - Hes much better, he went to the Physio yesterday and got some exercises and he is down to one crutch only when needed. No sport for 6-8 weeks which is KILLING him! :rotfl2:

The weather was glorious - except for the wedding day! :scared1:

Wedding stories to come (and there are plenty!) when I get my pics loaded on!

Yep indeedy, she commented, and I quote "Oh, a princess! White dresses are sooooo much classier than other colours!"

Gorgeous views, gorgeous place! We would like to go back one day - on our own! :lmao:

As a little teaser for you - the wedding day (and a day or 2 before) involved many arguements, shouting and swearing. And NONE of it involved me or DH! We just sat back and enjoyed the show :rotfl2:

Oh, and in the airport on the way home we were sat in the departure lounge surrounded by 200 of Canadas finest servicemen and women going home - very cool to see that many soldiers! :cool2:

Erika and Paula- :woohoo: on the losses. I am hoping my losing trend with stick with another couple weeks and that I will make my May 8th goal.

Erika-Ditto what Paula said about Princess weekend. Anywhere.

Kelly-Can't wait to hear more wedding stories. :surfweb:

Steph-The hair color doesn't look too bad. I remember what my mom's reaction was when I came home from college with purple-reddish hair. :scared1:

Roddy-You inspired me to get my veggie garden going!! I hope to have it all planted in the next day or two.

Off for a wog with Delena!

Roddy-You inspired me to get my veggie garden going!! I hope to have it all planted in the next day or two.

Awesome Amy, what are you going to plant?

I don't have a big garden. What I did was a couple of years ago, my dad and I built a box in the back yard. It's probably 8' x 12'. We filled it with a mixture of regular dirt and potting soil. That's my garden. It's not big enough to plant a huge variety of stuff but it's plenty for me and my parents and the lady that rents from my dad.

Roddy-- Just a little garden, a little smaller than yours. It gets alot of sun, so I had to choose some sun tolerant veggies. Zucchini, yellow squash, and a small corn growing experiment in the main garden, and then I have two smaller gardens. One will have peppers-green, sweet and jalapeno, and the other will have herbs, mint, basil, oregano. I may do some tomatoes in pots on the lanai. That has worked well before. So excited that I will hopefully have fresh veggies this summer!!

All of this talk about vegetable gardens makes me want to plant one. I don't have any time to tend to it over the season, but I really do enjoy the fresh veggies. Good thing I have lots of Italian relatives with large gardens so the veggies will be plentiful. Of course the farmer's markets start to ramp up too so that will help ease the pain for me.

Happy gardening everyone...

I know you are all dying to know about the wedding :rolleyes1 so here is a mini trip report for all of you!

Sunday - spent travelling. We arrived at our apartment in Cyprus around 9pm, and promptly went to the taverna over the road for refreshments :lmao:
SIL had a mini hen party on Sunday night (which I didn't attend as we weren't due to arrive in Cyprus until the night time)
SIL fell out with DH's cousin Anna who was singing at the wedding. SIL felt that Anna shouldn't be drinking on Sunday night as she needed to keep her throat right for the wedding...on Wednesday. Anna told her that she normally refrained from drinking for 24 hours before a performance (shes a classically trained opera singer) and she would be fine. SIL thought Anna wasn't taking her 'duties' seriously and fell out with her.
DH's Aunt (Annas mum) then decided not to talk to SIL as she had upset Anna.
MIL decided not to talk to anyone because they wouldn't go to the bar for her (real ladies don't go to the bar for their own drinks, don't you know!) :lmao:

Monday - Lovely day spent relaxing and sunbathing, with a little sightseeing thrown in. No contact with any of the IL's. Bliss :cloud9:

Cyprus2009066.jpg

Tuesday - Met up with DH's younger brother Jordan and Anna and went for a meal. Very nice night. Met up with the rest of the IL's to watch the big football match. Got introduced to SIL's uncle as 'The other daughter-in-law'. No name :scared1:
DH put her straight and said 'Her name is Kelly, use it or don't say anything'. MIL not happy, Kelly very happy :rotfl:However, for the rest of the week he did call me 'The other one'! :lmao:

Wednesday - Wedding Day! Woke up to black clouds, gale force winds and thunder and lightning. I kid you not :scared1:
Got to the hotel for the wedding to find it had been moved inside - no harm done, the room was decorated beautifully. Anna sang like an Angel. Apart from the quip from MIL about white dresses the wedding went without a hitch.

Here is DH with his parents:

The evening reception is where all the fun really started.....

Ok, this is where everything happened. Bear with me because it is long, and quite unbelivable!

The same room that the wedding was held in was where the evening reception was held. They had hired a singer and a belly dancer!
All was going well until the speeches!

Jordan was the best man and he had said he didn't want to make a speech (hes shy). This was fine as SIL's dad didn't want to make a speech (not shy, just an a$$). BIL was going to do a speech, on behalf of everyone. This is how it went.

BIL stands up and says 'I would like to thank everyone for coming...' at this point SIL's dad jumped up and shouted (yes, shouted) 'I want to make a speech now'. He then made a little speech and went to stand at the bar.

BIL continued 'As I said, I would like to thank everyone for coming....' Everyone realises that they cant hear BIL speak as SIL's dad is talking to the barman really really loudly. About Vodka. Why, I don't know.
He was shushed by SIL, BIL, MIL, SIL's mum, you name them, they shushed him.

BIL trys again 'Thank you everyone for coming...'. SIL's dad jumps up AGAIN and shouts 'Oy, Jordan. Make a speech. Toast the bridesmaids'
Jordan - No
SIL's Dad - Go on. Toast them.
Jordan - I don't want to make a speech
SIL's Dad - F*** you then.

Honestly. Me and DH nearly died of shock, MIL never, not once said a word in Jordans defence. Disgusted doesn't even cover what me and DH thought.

BIL then tried AGAIN with the speech, and got interrupted AGAIN. This time by SIL talking to her mum.

Fifth times a charm, he tried AGAIN. And was interrupted by SIL's Dad. BIL then turned round and said to his brand new FIL 'Will you shut the f*** up'. Not the best thing to say at a wedding im thinking.
After that he pretty much gave up on the speech and just said 'Thanks for coming, and toasted SIL'

SIL said to MIL that she would never forgive BIL for not telling everyone how beautiful she looked. I don't agree with the swearing but he really was at the end of his tether - he is shy as well and making a speech was a really big deal for him.

This is me during all the arguing, with my friend Pina Colada :rotfl:
Cyprus2009051.jpg

I wish I could tell you that was the end of the drama but sadly it wasn't. Here is a brief rundown:

SIL's dad refused to talk to her because BIL swore at him.
He also refused to talk to BIL.
SIL refused to talk to BIL.
SIL refused to talk to her sister, because she said that BIL was right to swear at her dad.
MIL refused to talk to Jordan because he 'showed her up' by not making a speech.

Enter - the belly dancer. I kid you not, she was stunning. Really gorgeous! As soon as she walked in SIL said 'I didn't think she'd look like THAT', let her do one dance then asked her to cut it short. So, after 5 minutes, exit the belly dancer.

During all this may I say Me and DH had a wonderful time.

Thursday Again, had a lovely day with DH, didn't see the IL's surprisingly :rotfl:

Friday Met up with everyone for a meal as they were flying home on Saturday. Sat and listened to how much nicer it was for MIL that the wedding was abroad as she didn't have to 'bog herself down with the details' and wasn't asked to do any 'piddly errands' before the wedding and she could concentrate on herself. DH's reply? 'Sounds pretty much like what you did before our wedding, because you sure as he-l-l didn't help us'

This is me, enjoying a Strawberry Daiquri and loving DH very much for sticking up for me - beware, the photo is very silly and not flattering!

Saturday and Sunday Spent a couple of days relaxing and sightseeing, very nice!

And there you have it.
9 hour delay coming home, the amazing sight of 200 soldiers sat in the departure lounge waiting for their flight, we were home.

And that my friends, is the week in Cyprus! :upsidedow

I've been wanting to have an herb garden. I would like to grow cilantro and basil. I'm not sure if you've ever grown mint before, but you won't have any trouble getting it to grow. And it spreads and stays :rotfl2:. My mother planted some mint along the back porch. It still comes up every year and that was ages ago. It's been dug up, weed-eaten or weed eated, whatever, sprayed with herbicide, you name it, it can't be killed. It's great. :lmao:

Kelly-Loved the report and the pics! You look fantastic and Lyz and Erika are right, your DH is a hottie!!

Roddy-I am really hoping the mint will take over in the area I have it in along the fence. Sort of a ground cover. Must have fresh mint for my mojitos!! My parents threw some in the garbage once that they had trimmed back and someohow some of it ended up growing in a totally random spot!
