In Search of My Body....Not the One I ATE! Vol. 5: Goddesses are Always on Top!

I was completely side tracked tonight and still haven't caught up. I found out I was almost 600 calories under for today, so I had an extra snack (I'm now up to 950). Crazy busy day at work.

I hope everybody is doing ok? I will try to catch up before I go to work tomorrow.

I studied abroad in London when I was in college, 8000 years ago, so I have friends who are British, Irish, Scottish, etc. Also, my BIL is an ex pat and my SIL is an Irish national, so I have constant exposure to non-American English, besides all my TV watching!

I say "no worries" all the time bc my BIL's Australian friends got him on that, and now people constantly ask if I'm Australian or lived there. See, when I see them - the inlaws - it's intensive periods of time and they end up using my "reindeer games" and I end up with "no worries". ;)

:lmao: My brother and I saw "So I married an Axe Murder" years ago and we decided that day to talk to each other in a Scottish accent. We get funny looks in the grocery store when we're walking around and he looks at me and says, "Oh I hated the Colonel, with his wee beady eyes and that smug look on his face, like, 'you're going to eat my chicken, ooohhhhhh'" in our Mike Myers Dad/Fat 'b' 'a' 's' 't' 'a' 'r' 'd' accents. :rotfl2:

Yeah, I had an Australian friend that got me saying "no worries" and calling eggs "googies" and so forth. I watch Hell's Kitchen, Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, Doctor Who, How clean is your house and You are what you eat on BBCA too much. hehe. The only other foreign friends I have are Mexicans. So, when I speak Spanish I sound like a mexican gang member. Ese. :rotfl:

So, I'm internationally screwed up as well as mentally. :rotfl:

All this talk reminds me of ESL students and where they learn English. It's so fascinating. One of the teachers in Japan learned in Southern California and sounded just like my Colombian SIL. Another learned in England and it was so there. Such a ride to hear accents that just don't make sense.

Or Asian West Indians. There are Asians in Jamaica and it's wild to see and hear. It's like your brain goes, "huh".

Gosh I so wish I would have studied anthropology. So wish.

OT. I was thinking as I watched my skin fry in Florida. That I'm not meant to do that. My skin is my mothers and was probably supposed to stay in place where it's a tad more gloomy.

Like why some people have wide noses or not - and lips - kinkiness of hair. All reasons for these based on environent. Someone explained these to me once. Wild wild stuff.

Okay, I'm totally off topic. :lmao:

What's funny, Lisa, is to hear a Hispanic man or woman that learned English on their own, here in the southern US and you get a Spanish/Southern accent together. It's totally cute. But one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had is learning what little Spanish I know from the Mexicans that I've worked with and made friends with over the years. Good times, good times, whoooo! :lmao:

Lisa, don't know if you are aware or not, but my mom (you know, the one you love so much :rotfl2: ) is an Anthropologist. My Godmother was Margaret Mead, before she died (I was about 10).

Which is really the ONLY reason I'm friends with you. Small group of people and all that. :rotfl:

Okay,

Mom was as bad as I thought. However, I've told you about the loveliness of the disease with Mama (J's mom) and with mine. They were so apparent.

My mother who has spent her whole life with a bathing cap on since I can remember and then never going under the water - ever. Are you ready????

Went down the friggin' Vero water slide. And told me today that it was the highlight of her time!!!!:lmao::rotfl::lmao: If you knew my Betty Crocker silk pillowcase mom you'd be laughing your a$$ off. She's a 'can't you put that beer in a glass" woman.

She also stared at the ocean one day. "Mom do you need some more time?". I want to go in. She says. So she walks in with her leather shoes on (WTH?) and is mesmerized and talks about how she used to jump the waves like me. Dad's eyes were wide. Must be childhood.

Station break here. Erika!!!!! Holy cow. Holy muscles to jump the waves. I was so sore after an hour or two of jumping one day. So sore that night and couldn't figure out why. The waves!!!!

Their room was not ready. So we took them to the beach -

101_0492.jpg

101_0510.jpg

Jean's happy!:lovestruc

101_0496.jpg

And the beach in general -

101_0531.jpg

You know what I learned on this trip. WNTW is on on purpose. Stacy and Clinton do have a purpose. :lmao: And I'm too old to not wear a bra with these kind of tops. And one needs new bras when you lose weight. These pants look awful. In person I think they look great so loose.

101_0499.jpg

I'm showing this to show you my seventy three year old father's legs and my loss on the gene pool.:lmao: Or his skin tone. There's a story in the family that his grandmother was a Native Canadian who was adopted into white society. My sister wants her tax card. :lmao: Anyway only one of us got his skin and she "wastes it" he says. :rotfl2:

My aunt said it on her deathbed, that it was a family secret, but my father claims cuckoo cocoa pops but the story still lives on.

101_0527.jpg

So we go up and their room is ready!!! And they scored. They got top floor. Right above us. Dad threw crap on our balcony for fun. :rolleyes1

Huge balcony. About half of my condo. :lmao: Huge room where - weird layout like you could have put in a third bed easily. I was so thrilled for them.

Middle pic is Jean and Mom -

101_0567.jpg

101_0533.jpg

So then we really go to the beach. Umbrella, jumping waves, bathing suits etc. I'm there somewhere.

101_0554.jpg

We stayed for a couple of hours. And then they wanted the pool.

101_0559.jpg

Next is Saint Paddy's day. :surfweb:

Lisa, don't know if you are aware or not, but my mom (you know, the one you love so much :rotfl2: ) is an Anthropologist. My Godmother was Margaret Mead, before she died (I was about 10).

Yes, I remember. I remember everything you say about wonder woman. Does she know she has a stalker/one woman fan club? :lmao::rotfl: Next thing you know I'll be looking her up on athlinks.com for her latest tri times. Did I tell you I'm obsessed with races and your mother!!!:lmao:;) And now she races!:rotfl:

I'm harmless Erika. :lovestruc Really.

So interesting, eh? So interesting. It's like that governor. Where is he? Arkansas? Bobby WTH. So fascinating.

I teach ESL Roddy. And you know how we all are not supposed to generalize about people with stereotypes. But some things are true. They really truly are. You see them in class. Hispanics are such happy happy people (like built in even if they are unhappy - smiling). Full of life. Like love life. And one day I will kill a Russian man and you'll all have to pool for the bail.

Forgive me Lord.

Which is really the ONLY reason I'm friends with you. Small group of people and all that. :rotfl:

Oh yeah I already told you. :lmao:

101_0484.jpg

101_0581.jpg

Yep that's right it's turn your afro green day. :rotfl:

My hair is so damaged it looks green anyways.

Here's me zooming on my mama -

101_0584.jpg

Look at the woman's legs. Yes, I'm still bitter three pages later. God is going to strike me down for not being grateful for having legs. Lke he or she has time for my vanity. :rotfl:

101_0588.jpg

My mom putting this on is another WTH moment. Nothing touches her hair.

101_0590.jpg

We're off to the other side of the resort. To check it out. Across the street through a tunnel. A small pond/lake. Picnic areas. Soccer field. Beach volleyball. Tennis courts. Basketball three on three court. Nice. Peaceful. area.

101_0594.jpg

101_0593.jpg

And pool again was calling. Oh the life. Sleep. Eat. Swim.

I took pictures from the slide. This slide. Yes, the slide my hoity toity mother went down. Twice. :lmao:

This was the day I found myself trapped in a slide race with three milllion teenagers and some really psyched adults. And feisty four year olds. I didn't have my technique down pat. I scored an 11 point something seconds. Nine point something was winning. Some got 18 though. So good first run. Apparently, guys do best like below. That's how I raced but some really competitive woman taught me that woman do best sitting up and piked down to touch their toes. Oh boy was she right. Jean timed me under 10 one day and I was flying.

101_0636-1.jpg

I asked some boys if I could take their picture. They're like "yeah!!!!". Boys. Geez, hmmm - should I post here since I asked them not their parents. Hmmm - Okay I will.

Well I hope I'm adding to your joy of warmer weather. I'm having fun. I so need to go to bed. :dance3:

I've got a lot on my plate. Place still isn't sold and I'm avoiding some other stress right now. Oh boy. Night all or good morning.

GOOD MORNING!

Kelly - Oh how I adore Indian food.* Eat it all the time.* It's the ghee with the calories.* I so love it.* I forgot to say something about the goat comment a couple of weeks back. About not knowing it.** It's West Indian.* Oxtail I adore too.* I'm surprised since England has such a strong WI community but not in your region?* Probably.**Oxtail I have heard of - Oxtail Soup! There is a really good West Indian restaraunt in the nearest city to us - the area im in is small towns, not a huge WI community near me but in the city - Yes! Im going to check out the menu properly next time I go there!I discovered something on this trip.* Is Mars bar Canadian?* Kelly - Mars bar?* I thought coffee Crisp, Smarties.* But didn't know Mars.*
I  Mars Bars. Love love love them.
Your photos are fabulous. You look great, and you rocked that swimming costume! I also like the happy photo of Jean, where its taken from the back and shes in front of the sea with her arms out - very cool picture!
As to what has been happening here, I have rather kept it off thread, as it is my husband's family and not mine.** Both of my in-laws have been battling some serious health problems, and there was a stress-inducing but necessary and (so far, at least) successful surgery that happened this morning.
So - here's my family, all gathered around the TV to watch this dance group peform (we had NO idea the song choice).* HOLY CRAP!* You have to be kidding me.* A dozen or so scantily clad 70 year old plus women dancing to "Milkshake".* :scared: <hyperventilation starts>.* They are tapping away.* Out rolls this cart with giant glasses of vanilla milkshakes. :scared1::scared1: Several of these woman now have freakin' MILKHAKE MOUSTACHES.
I nearly passed out. So horrifying.* So demeaning and humiliating. :sad2:
.
:scared1:  I don't like shows like that, I can't watch the humiliation.

I say "no worries" all the time.* One summer, a million years ago, I lived with two Aussies and a Kiwi (from New Zeland), so I picked it up there.
Add me to the list of people who say "No Worries". DH went to play cricket in Australia, and I picked it up when I went to visit him and it never went away :rotfl:
Yeah, I had an Australian friend that got me saying "no worries" and calling eggs "googies" and so forth.* I watch Hell's Kitchen, Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, Doctor Who, How clean is your house and You are what you eat on BBCA too much. hehe.* The only other foreign friends I have are Mexicans.* So, when I speak Spanish I sound like a mexican gang member.* Ese.* :rotfl:So, I'm internationally screwed up as well as mentally. :rotfl:
:rotfl:I find it very funny that you watch all the British shows and I watch all the US shows. Simple things amuse simple minds I suppose :lmao:

Well guys the concert was great!
Thanks for all your kind words - the scariest thing about that night is that whilst I had my brothers and great friends with me, there were girls there who were out in groups and their friends didn't realise they had wondered off on their own - that scares the heck out of me because anything could have happened.
I now drink from bottles, which I insist are opened in front of me (which gets me some funny looks but I dont care), never put my drink down, keep my thumb over the top of the bottle. Paranoid, maybe. I would rather be a little paranoid and have a good night than end up in hospital and vomiting and shaking for 3 days!

I drank way too much last night - a well deserved blow out I think! Im going to get on the cross trainer in a minute, I need to sweat the alcohol out! :lmao:

Good morning everyone!

Kelly, that is funny, I use exercise to "sweat" out the alcohol too. It also fixes my head because unlike some people, I do get hangovers. Not many because I don't drink much but, anyway. I am glad the concert went well and you did not have anything awful happen. I do the same thing with my beer, open in front of me, in my possession all the time, etcetera. :goodvibes

LisaV, most awesome pictures! How I long for sunny warmth. And you have NOTHING to be ashamed of. You have fabulous legs and you look fantastic in your suit. Even though you tried the minipic of it, I think you look great!!! :thumbsup2 Glad you had a great time on the beach AND with your mom. My Nana was too funny when she started going downhill. She would just say anything to anyone. :rolleyes1

Kat, sorry you had some bad mojo going on. I would have sent  had I known. So, here are some a little late :hug::hug: I hope everything is okay now.

Breakfast go to food (sorry I missed this) is oatmeal with bee pollen, flax seed, wheat germ, protein powder and whatever fruit I have at the time. My second favorite, toast 2 pieces of WW bread, cook 1 egg, and make a sandwich out of low-fat cheese, ham and the egg.

Thanks for all the kind words about my run. Yes running is mental. Running distance is more mental. Mike thinks I'm mental :lmao:. I am beginning to think I am mental too :upsidedow. After this full I can honestly say that I have no interest in training like this again. It takes a lot of time and it is boring. At least when you are racing, there are other people, different sites and things to see. These long runs alone are just flat out B-O-R-I-N-G. I am going to split this weekends 18 miles into 10 on Saturday and 10 on Sunday and see if that works better. Something has to work better. :sad2:

I finished out my miles yesterday with 3 strong ones. I averaged a 10:02 on tired legs which is great for me. I have slowed down so much with the longer distance that a PR in VAB is looking like a long way away. I was hoping to be under 2 hours there, I guess time will tell that too. Today is girls to the gym (minus one due to teenage girl in-fighting) and 4 miles with hill repeats. I save those for my driveway at home where no one can see me but the cows! Tomorrow is 9 miles, groceries, laundry and general house junk. So I will see you all on Thursday.

Oh and Nancy, I know you are biased but how good is goats milk moisturizer? My skin is dry, dry, dry right now and I need some help. Anyone else have a favorite moisturizer?

Morning. I am off to meet with the tax attorney. I'm ill about it. See you on the flip side and then I'll respond to everyone. Right now, I am just a basket case.

I'm still lurking away. My laptop from home was taken away by FedEx to be repaired who knows where. Hopefully I will have it back in a couple of weeks. I can't get to my at home email from work, so I created this new log on until I can get back up at home.

I didn't do so well at WW last week, I was up 1.4. (TOM) So this week will be much better.

Lisa, I love the pictures of your vacation! The during and after shots give me lots of hope that I will make it to during and after.

Have a Great Day!
Sunny

So guess what I got today. An email from the gal at the Middle School wondering when I can meet her to discuss the final costumes for the play :headache: Holy crap! I just finished. Let me breath already And (here's the funniest part) she's concerned because "time is running out". :lmao: Time is running out. Good God. The play isn't until April 10th. She's going to have a stroke when I tell her that we didn't finish the High School costumes until 2:00 on Friday afternoon - a mere 5 hours before the curtain went up. :lmao: Time is running out. Clearly we aren't going to get along :rolleyes1[/B]
Don't they know things take time? oOr our skating show they are still making costumes and the show is on Saturday... Last night my Mom ran out of fabric and ran to the "Not-named Store" to get more and they were all out... So now three of the girls will have skirts made of a different material. Last year My Mother and step mother were sewing till about 15 minutes before the show! SO I know what its like to have to be last minute!

Okay,

Here's the scoop. I don't have a before pic. Digital didn't exist then. :lmao:
That's how old I am and how slowly I lost it. I could take a picture of an old picture. But I've packed so much and have no idea where to find a before picture.

So here's some in between photos. 2005 - about half way through. About 260 something I think. Look at my arms! This is on our family DVC vacation of 13. That's Jean's brother near me and nephews.
And here's some pics I took just for this thread while on vacation. These two were just after an interval workout so my face is really red. Okay, I'm doing the bathing suit photo. Be gentle. :lmao: I figured out how to do it smaller. I'm a chicken. My legs just refuse to bounce back. I should have put on a sarong like Liz. Remember Liz's bikini pics. :lovestruc Inspriring Liz. So much. Sarongs. I have some beautiful ones.

I love this pic cause I know I'm arguing with Jean about the pic. She's like take this one for your before and after pics for your thread. So cute that she's pumping me up to do it. And thinking about life on the thread. And I'm arguing. :lmao:;)

Sorry I had to cut out the photos they wouldn't let me post they said I had to many pictures?????:confused3
Okay there we are. I'm sighing heavily. This is a big deal for me in so many ways. I feel kind of light headed.

But Liz and Erika - you have so inspired me to do a where I was half way through and where I'm at now. I so wish I had a before picture!!!!

Also, this last challenge was fantastic. I have to love the now. Have to.

Okay, back to regular vacation programming. I have at least three more parts to the trip.

OMG lisa you look great don't be ashamed of your body is perfect! I love the bathing suit From what I could see of it (to tiny of a Picture) You carried the 260 well! Love the RED hair! I know the feel about being from a red head my grandma was one of 7 sisters which all had red hair! They were famous back in my hometown They were know as the "O'neil girls" All girls not one boy in the family.... NONE of my dads brothers or sisters have red hair either, my grandfather had dark hair. My aunt mary and I dye ours a dark red but naturally we all have dark hair except my aunt diane who has blonde???

Earlier today Steph posted her current set list, which includes the Milkshake Song, and it reminded me of a story. So horrifying that it's actually funny. In a totaly sick and twisted kind of way.

Last summer, Comedy Central did a kind of revival of the Gong Show. I only watched a teeny bit of it on 2 occasions, so I don't know if it's still on or if it was cancelled.

It was awful. Horrible. There were 3 male judges who were raunchy, crude, crass - just plain nasty. Not the least bit funny. Just overwelmingly vulgar and repulsive. (and for ME to say that, they have to be bad. :sad2:)

Now. Hubby has an aunt who lives in California. She's in her mid-60's. A couple of years ago she thought it would be fun to take up tap dancing. So she joined a tap dance group of senior citizen woman who like to just be kinda goofy, and have fun and maybe get a bit of exercise in. She is the youngest member of the group, and they range in age up to early 80's.

Somewhere along the way, somebody thought it would be a fabulously fun idea to audition for this new Gong Show. I mean. Who didn't love the original back in the 70's, what with that silly Unknown Comic who wore the paper bag on his head and all the goofy, harmless shannigans. :confused3 So audition they did. And :yay: how exciting - they were accepted. They were going to dance on national TV!

Sadly (which in the end, turned out to be a blessing :rolleyes1) the day that they were scheduled for taping, DH's aunt couldn't be there. Oh well. The rest of the group was going to dance. However, the "powers that be" at the Gong Show didn't care for their musical selection, "Little Old Lady From Pasadena", by the Beach Boys. Totally appropriate, because they all were, little old ladies from....

Nope. The producers gave them a different song. I'm sure you can see this coming. They were to dance to "The Milkshake Song".

So - here's my family, all gathered around the TV to watch this dance group peform (we had NO idea the song choice). HOLY CRAP! You have to be kidding me. A dozen or so scantily clad 70 year old plus women dancing to "Milkshake". :scared: <hyperventilation starts>. They are tapping away. Of course, not a single one of them had any idea what that song was about. CLEARLY. OMG I hope no one has ever told them.

Yes, they were "gonged". And the judges all had a good laugh at their expense. And we were so incredibly thankful that our relative had a conflict and couldn't make it.

So, no. I don't have Milkshake on my playlist
.

OMG that was horrible!

Steph - how is life up north? Is it starting to get warm yet? I hae about 40 or so songs on my current cardio playlist. They range from Katy Perry's Hot and Cold to U2 with some Foo Fighters, Green Day and Nickelback thrown in. Lately I have been alternating between dance music for my interval sprints, becuase the tempo goes from fast to really fast and back and metal / alternative (if that is what you call Green Day, etc - Liz correct me if I am wrong) for my straight spinning because the beat is more continuous but yet still fast. Lately, a lot of the music I am listening to has an angry edge to it. Not sure why because it is not normally my thing, but it is working for me right now.

It was quite warm up here last weekend but it has gotten quite cold again infact the river which had thawed has a skimming of ice on it this morning!
Don't feel bad about the angry music .... last week all I listen to was G N'R and metallica all angry songs and I had just woken up nasty and the mood lasted 2 days so I walked around for two days with the ipod on just blaring ANGRY EYES MUSIC! ( speaking of angry eyes have you seen the commercial with mr & Mrs potato head in it and he is driving so fast and she looses her lips and she whips out her angry eyes? FUNNY!)

:rotfl:

Two weeks ago I brought my daughter and her friend shopping and the friend walk around all night with the english /scottish accent and let me tell you we got some heads turned because she was quite loud! I couldn't help but laugh because it was so funny! And she kept it up for over an hour!
As for the mexican gangs... we had a group of kids the dresses as a mexican gang for halloween in school and that is how they all talked!

KAt so glad to hear that your FIL made it through. I will keep you guys in my thoughts as he recovers

O I did NOT make it to WW last night weigh in starts at 515 and kids had to be at the rink for 530. So I felt I didn't have the time to drive 10 minutes NORTH and then drive 30 minutes south and be there when we were supposed to.
LYZ you know how I say I spend a lot of time in the car well just got my car on Friday and As of last night I had 250 miles on it already! It had 40 when I got it!

I totally love that commercial.... Glad it is starting to warm up. I hear the cold weather is on its way out. It better be as I started to pack up the winter clothes...

Not too much to report on here this morning. Lots of crap to deal with at work so I'll be pretty busy there. Training tonight so that is good.

E - good luck at the tax attorney...

All this talk about music. Maybe I should start doing sit-ups to Rammstein or something. :lmao:
