In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

I turned on fat night on Discovery Health while I folded laundry... made me put on workout clothes and am going to hit the mini-stepper when I am done. I should record this stuff and put it on when I want to binge. Or like have my fridge b00by-trapped to play it or something.

:scared1: Like one of those "Scared Straight" videos

Are we not loving the dancing banana? I have to say - there is something quite sinister about it...
:lmao:

:lmao: :rotfl2: This goes way back to the first thread....the dancing bananas really freak me out! :lmao:

I'm being a bad mom tonight ~ not fixing dinner. Instead we are eating fresh by having Subway. At least it's something healthy.

AIMEE! That is SO not being a bad mom! We need to do that once in a while. I love it when my husband goes away on business so I can give the kids cereal or whatever for dinner! :rotfl2:

I'm SOBER.

Oh, good God....WHY?!?! :rotfl2: :lmao:

Remember when we were in Disney? And I would sing randomly? And it was WARM? And we were drinking? And it was 2008 and we were so happy?

And we had drinks in hand every day by noon? And I got to know every CM who served us those drinks personally? And you made friends with the marathon grandma? And you were so tired that you wanted to sleep on the counter in the SSR lobby? And we called Kat Chatty Katty?? :lmao:

Of COURSE we love apple pie. I mean, who doesn't :confused3 Oh...and it *is* my job after all :rolleyes1
Did you notice what I wrote for your occupation in the Cast List? Go back and look! :rotfl2:

Also hate cell phones and new checks (don't ask. I'm crabby...probably because I put myself on a no-alcohol diet  ) Let's see. I also hate it when people are stupid - or at least, do stupid things (I'll put Liz's MIL in category 2 there...she *may* be a "1" but I don't know her, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt here)

And wonky computers. Hate them too. :badpc: They are supposed to work. All the time. Every time. It's their JOB.

And I REALLY hate it when LisaV and Steph don't show up for what seems like DAYS. What? Do they have a LIFE? :confused3

:rotfl2: I'm too cranky for my own good.

OMG, someone get Nancy some WINE! This is just plain scary! :lmao: :rotfl2:

And yes. Remember when we got walked off Toy Story? And candy martinis at the Brown Derby?

And remember when you didn't know what Osbourne Lights were? And Liz DID know and kept calling it a sh*t show until she saw them and then loved them??? And remember wanting beer delivered to us during Fantasmic?

Ok, so I had a hard day (long story, but things are fine overall), but I dealt with my hard day by exercising (like, a lot)...including a huge bike ride (stationary, though), a 2 mile snowshoe trek and a 2 mile run with Cammie! So, I will take that as my victory for the day. And I had a killer good food day. Let's see....calories = 1000. Oh, damn! 1000 + wine. I just pulled a Nancy without even realizing it! :rotfl2: But I only had a glass and a half, so still within in range. :thumbsup2

Dawn--a puppy! SO cute! But I do not envy you the work. :scared1: Or the cost...yikes! Purebred goldens from good breeders can be SO much $$$. I always find it sad that it costs so much to get a dog. Didn't your last dog run away like all the time? :rotfl2: We went the electric fence route for our little hound. (She's a whopping 9 pounds!) Fortunately, goldens tend not to wander. And did you know they call them "America's dog?" B/c they are so wonderful!

Tomorrow is Monday! You know how I love Mondays! :cool1: (And for our new friends, yes, I really do!)

I say this to dh almost once a week. He has yet to say yes :sad1:

Lurker here trying to come out of hiding. For all the comments about House hunters: as a realtor I won't watch that show. Drives me up the wall. I want to yell at the buyers: Please learn another adjective other than NICE. And, yes, I've had many buyers refuse to buy a house because they couldn't stand a wallpaper or paint color :confused3 .

Dawn: congratulations on the puppy. I wanted a puppy before I had the boys. Now I don't have the energy for it, maybe when the boys are older.

I'm sorry I can't rememeber who, but someone said they were going to Cyprus. I'm jealous. I've wanted to go there for years, dh has been numerous times. We said this summer we'd go but I'm worried about taking the boys on such a long flight. Have fun and take lots of photos to share please.

Sundays are usually the day dh and I take the kids to check out new homes. We want to move and have been checking out several neighborhoods. He wants to move across town and I don't, so we keep going back and forth with where we will eventually move to. Today, my youngest fell asleep in the car before we made it to the first home. I carried him throughout the house we were viewing. By the time we were done I had to sit down and catch my breath. He's not a large boy, 27 pounds, but man I was exhausted. Made me realise how very badly I must lose this weight. Also, I have PCOS and insulin resistance, and etc... It was under control before I had my first son and all was fine until recently. I get cysts behind my ears, and in other places when my insulin is out of control :scared1: . The cysts started up again. I really don't want to go back on metformin, really messes with my stomach, so I'd like to lose this weight so I don't have any more cysts and not have to take the medicine.

I have insulin resistance too! It did very strange things to me. Felt like I wasn't in my own body. It's not fun! But I am confident that you can get it under control again.

I've tried to be good with food this week, and did better than normal. But, still no exercise. I've been looking online at bikes, since I'm usually outside with my boys while they ride their bikes. I thought I might try taking them to the track at our local park to ride. Am I setting myself up for failure? I was thinking since they are still small and don't ride too fast then it would be a good starting point for me. If I get better at it then I could venture out by myself a few days a week.

Oh, one last thing. For all you runners, how do you deal with shin splints? Any time I walk, whether on the treadmill or outside, my shins hurt so much. Any advice?

I had this problem when I was in high school. My shoes weren't supportive enough. Just a thought.

Welcome back to the board!

Oh, one last thing. For all you runners, how do you deal with shin splints? Any time I walk, whether on the treadmill or outside, my shins hurt so much. Any advice?

You will want to stretch your shins...before and after. And there is really only one way to do it. You need to walk around for a few minuets with your feet in a "flexed position." This means kinda walking around on your heals with your toes pointed up. You will instantly feel it in your shins. Yes, it looks as dorky as it sounds. :lmao:

So glad someone understands how crazy this can make you feel.

I'm fine with looking dorky, it comes naturally to me.

Isn't cereal for dinner wonderful!

Oh my gosh yes. Crazy is an excellent word for it.

Edit: Now the full moon is messing up the quotes, lol

Can I go back to Disney too.... The most stressful thing I ran into down there was a missed dinner reservation time. Oh - and I ate a lot, drank a lot (including a shot) and still lost weight... I want to go back... (and yes, I'm pouting).

Shin splints - hate those. I don't do the treadmill because of them. Erika, I will try what you recommended and see if they help.

Off to bed for me - have a good night all.

Paula

/
Ah, Disney. Remember when Erika did the STAIRS at POR? And woke up Liz and I doing pushups in the room?

I have more of a tendency toward calf cramping than shin splints. I think that is because my legs are used to heels all day long, though, and the sneakers are a shock to their system.

E, so awesome that you and Cammie had a good run. And Paula/Lyz, umm, yeah, we need to get a move on. Cammie is already lapping us and then some.

I am a rescue animal gal myself. We have two mutt cats from the shelter, one that was 2.5 when we got her and then the kitten, who was on display at Petco but it was an adopt-a-thon. I don't think I could ever pay for an animal, knowing that there are so many that get euthanized every year (yes, the Sarah Mclachlan commercials make me teary-eyed). And even then, man, they can get to be EXPENSIVE!! We joke that we should just sign a paycheck a year over to the vet.

Food for today:
B: none (not up yet!)
L: 2 servings veggie lasagna (320), large salad (100)
D: boca burger (100) on 1 slice double fiber bread (50), spinach dip (100), ff pringles (75), assorted veggies for dipping (25)
S: 1 serving brownie mud pie ice cream (130)

Total, 900 (oops). Exercise, 30 min on mini-stepper, 30 crunches, 10 pushups. Water, 80 oz.

I have questions about making the biggest bang for your caloric buck.

What is a breading low in calories but crisps well for fish? We usually have fish deep fried and breaded and well that just isn't on the agenda anymore. I'd like to introduce fish, but I cannot set down a piece of baked tilapia without some kind of breading.
Ok I found one type of bread crumbs that stay crunch when you cook with them not sure of the cals. I will look tomorrow! PROMISE!
I am struggling to come up with dinners that my husband/family can eat alot of and be filling at the same time.
FISH I don't like fish unless it's haddock! Well Lobster too! But haddock I bake with a bit of skimmed milk and butter. MMMMM good!

Like last night we had bbq'd chicken breasts. 220 calories for the chicken, and 30 for the bbq sauce. 250 per piece total. I ate one piece for dinner. Hubs ate 3. (Which by the way, at 6'2" and very active is way under his bmr. His limit is 2400.) I've got him eating around 2000 a day for weight loss. Yesterdays example: I'm packing his lunch in the morning, and it's around 690 calories. He still has 1310 left for dinner. He had 750 in chicken, 100 in brocolli, 140 baked potato, and 210 in peas. Air popped popcorn for a snack.
Men SUCK because they can eat so much MORE than us! NOT FAIR!!!!
Ham steak is tonight.

BTW, watching House Hunters. What kind of people don't buy a house based on the wallpaper? Do they not realize wallpaper can be removed and paint changed? Who ARE these people???
UMMM >>> HELLO don't you remember way back in September when I was buying this house my mother was throwing a fit because of the UGLY WALLPAPER! UMMM yeah ditch the house because it has UGLY wallpaper. It's changeable People
Ok so the reason for my disappearance this weekend is 1. I was WORKING! SATURDAYS I go to the rink in the morning and then home shower feed kids and then To WORK! Plus Stephen was sick with the stomach flu!
2. reason I was away is because of this little darling

This is Mocha! She is a choc lab, she is 8 1/2 weeks old! We went to look at them friday night and ended up coming home with one! She is SPOILED already beyond belief! Even my mom is showing off her pictures like any proud grandma! She is sleeping with one of us at all time! Last night see slept with me and steph. Tonight she is sleeping with Sammy. YEAH SPOILED! When Stephen was sick she slept with him all day in the bed on the recliner! He brought her to his mothers tonight and they all fell in love with her! I think I am going to bring her to work tomorrow to show her off! I can't wait for the snow to melt and her to get a little bigger so we can go for walks! Ok I need to go to bed!
I am off tomorrow! I weigh in tomorrow night!

OH and NANCY I won't be around this coming weekend either! GOING TO MAINE!

Good morning everyone! I have read through everyone's posts but you will have to forgive me. I have been pretty depressed this weekend. Everytime I looked at the clock all I could think of was where I would be either during the races or with my friends in Disney. It was a pretty difficult weekend for me. Other than the hill for sliding, zero exercise, zero desire. I just sat around reading Twilight all weekend. Thank goodness I had something to occupy my mind. I am in a search for New Moon tonight.

Perfect body weights and perfect BMIs: Look, your perfect body weight is where YOU are comfortable with yourself. It is not what some book or chart or the media says. Find the weight where you are comfortable with you and that is where it is perfect. I used to think that I needed to be 115 pounds but the reality is that I am comforable with myself at 130 and that is where I can maintain myself (usually) without much effort (mostly) and that is what makes me the happiest about it. Make a tangible reasonable goal for yourself that you feel is easy to reach, hit that goal and if you are not happy, set another. Don't bust yourself by saying you have to lose this huge amount because it is very overwhelming and therefore, more difficult to do and easier to sabotage yourself.

Steph, field hockey game on Sunday at 10 a.m. so 9:30-ish would be good or 11ish after she is done, either way.

Oh there was something else but now it is gone again. I am going to do another post with the week three jump start diet tips so anyone who wants to print it does not get all my other babble in it.

Have a great day everyone!!

Week 3:
1. Measure your success. This is the only time you have to bust out a measuring cup. Your goal is to be able to eyeball a portion on your own. Measure cereal, count chips, and nuts, etcetera.

2. Divide and conquer. Most eateries serve giant dishes, so cut your meal in half, put the part you're not eating on your bread plate and ask the waiter to pack it up. This way, you'll be less prone to eat mindlessly after you're full.

3. Warm to frozen meals. TV dinners shouldn't be a mainstay of your diet but eating them occasionally can teach you how big a meal should be. Buy an entree with 350 calories, at least 3 g of protein, 1.5 g of fiber and no more than 1.5 g saturated fat per 100 calories. Transfer it to your plate, add a green salad and then visually take it all in before you eat. Remember that image when you prepare dinner or before you dig into takeout.

4. Beat the buffet. When faced wtih a multitude of foods, people eat more. If you encounter a spread whether at a party or your fridge, scoop up half of your usual serving of 2 favorite dishes. You'll feed your need for diversity and avoid the urge for seconds.

5. Have a slimmer Saturday. Weekend graze-athons could be standing between you and a smaller size. A study in the journal Obesity found that women eat 236 more calories on Saturday than on weekdays which could result in a 9-pound gain over the course of a year.

6. Pump up the volume. Do you overdo it at snack time? Choose a high-volume version of the nosh you want. Reserarchers at Penn State University found that people ate 21% fewer calories when given cheese puffs compared with those given denser nibbles. Rice cakes, popcorn and puffed cereal all deliver volume for fewer calories.

7. Leave the glass half full. Sipping one alcoholic beverage a day can benefit your heart health, but drinks ordered in bars tend to contain three times more alcohol than the recommended amounts. Some safe bar bets: Order a bottle of light beer (12 oz, 95 calories) or get a glass of wine and some seltzer and mix them togehter for one long-lasting light drink.

Hi - need to go and catch up...

I am just throiwng thisout here cause E - you may be able to give me some suggestions...

Treyner took 2 years of math that his High School course book said were NCAA approved...in fact although the names have changed since 9/10th grade year...it still is showing as of this year as NCAA approved. Now, his counselor and the NCAA website, are saying/showing it is not approved. This could completley screw his chances for playing at Fort Lewis next year.

I am heading into the school right away...but my question is...is the school held accountable for their error? If it is accurate that these clases are not NCAA approved...do I go to the NCAA and file a complaint? I am not sure what to do...it says you need 2 years of math...Treyner's transcripts show he had 3 already that should qualify...and now...this...It may be fine if he is red-shirted next year...but if he needs to be elligible...not good...and the coach has not decided that yet.

Will let you all know...I wll post proper later...but OMgoodness...cute pup Steph...now I am all excited even more...

Lisa PR - sorry you had a tough weekend...you and E are the runners who understand this to it's depth..we can only just lend you a hug...

:Dawn--a puppy! SO cute! But I do not envy you the work. :scared1: Or the cost...yikes! Purebred goldens from good breeders can be SO much $$$. Tomorrow is Monday! You know how I love Mondays! :cool1: (And for our new friends, yes, I really do!)

Oh...forgot to tell you the best part...puppy is a trade for Tupperware I have on hand...so nada out of pocket...

Yes...our last dog was a runner...spent hundreds on bailing her out of the houskau...she ran in September when I wa in the hospital..and never was found...which mean someone has her...because the way our city works...if sh eis picked up...she goes to one place...and that is our vet who knows her by site...and...if she was found hit by a car...we would have been called also because she is registered with the city with tags...I think we all kept thinking she would come back...ran but always short times (1/2 hour etc) and then came back...It made me furious because Chad was staying with the kids...I di not know she was gone for 2 days...then I called the police, put up flyers etc...but to no avail...I think the kids are glad that we can raise this dog like we want...and Chad is out of the decession making proccess...

Chad refused invisible fencing/classes, would rather spend money on kennels and leads and runs she would break...and now...Chad is not part of the equation...so new rules...and that invisible fencing can be laid in the spring. She was from a farm when we got her...and was already a runner...a fence di not slow her down, she could jump like a horse. She was a golden lab/golden retriever mix. What made me the most mad was because he did not give a crud about the animal, did not care the kids were devestated. Again, like always..who mattered was him and his wants.

Weighed this morning already..and no gain from Italian night...small portions and I considerd it all day....:cool1:

OMG, someone get Nancy some WINE! This is just plain scary! :lmao: :rotfl2:

:scared1: What a b!tch I was last night ..sorry :flower3: Feelin' better now...and the BEST thing is...the kids all left for school. On time. Seems like for-EVER since that happened
And I had a killer good food day. Let's see....calories = 1000. Oh, damn! 1000 + wine. I just pulled a Nancy without even realizing it! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2:

I'm fine with looking dorky, it comes naturally to me.

 Welcome to my world. Wanna dance to my hip-hop dvd with me? :rotfl2:

2. reason I was away is because of this little darling

:yay: YAY! Steph is back. And what is this? A PUPPY? Oh my. It's *catchy* on this thread :rotfl2: SHe is truly adorable. I can see how she stole your heart

OH and NANCY I won't be around this coming weekend either! GOING TO MAINE!

(I'll make a note of that, so as not to harass you ;) )

Good morning everyone! I have read through everyone's posts but you will have to forgive me. I have been pretty depressed this weekend.

YIKES  I'll be thinking of you this morning- definitely something that needs to be explained & dealt with ASAP. And options. If for some reason his math does not "count"....ask about options...like a class at a community college or something - he may even be able to take something this semester still??? or over the summer? :confused3

Oh...forgot to tell you the best part...puppy is a trade for Tupperware I have on hand...so nada out of pocket...

Such a deal :thumbsup2 Can't wait to see pictures when he arrives.

K - headed to the gym. Gonna start my week RIGHT :yay:

Ah, my kids are quite for a change! One is eating breakfast and one is heading out to catch the bus. :worship: I let them snooze this morning because I simply couldn't pull myself out of bead. The last bit of strep has been holding on tight to me.

Is anybody else having issues with it being so dark in the AM? It usually doesn't bother me, but this time around it is. I have a 1/2 day from work Thursday because I have to work Saturday morning. :cool1:

I had a pleasant surprise when my mom told me last night that she would really like to go to dinner where we need to dress up a few times during our WDW trip. This has been the moment I have been waiting for! My mom is a buffet queen and I like to be waited on. :rolleyes1 Needless to say, I am stoked that I don't have to go to buffets for every meal!!

At any rate, back to reality I go. Time to get ready for work. I hope everybody has a good Monday. I'm feeling a song coming on, lol.

Ok for weight I am down .6 says WW web site! So there is a PLUS! well no that would be a minus but a plus for me .... oh you get the point right!

Paula, I am sorry your weekend was like that. Hugs, girlfriend.

Back to normal for all of us tomorrow, right? I need a new day. I'm tired. My mom has bronchitits and has to do chemo this week. She needs to get better soon! Also, I had to throw down with my MIL - she called me to cry today because apparently MY mom's cancer and MY BFF's pregnancy is SO distracting to her that she just "forgot" not to tell anyone about Jodi and told her best friend, who posted it on Facebook. Argh. And yes, my MIL's best friend is on Facebook. Hahaha!

But seriously, the nerve of her to cry bc she slipped up. She wants me to feel sorry for her. Now, if she had said, "I am so distracted by my son's marriage imploding, I just forgot and told my best friend what you explicitly told me not to tell anyone" then I would have been cool. But to blame it on my mom's cancer? And the pregnancy in question? Like, those are my people, my distractions. My daily updates and worry.

But whatever. She is sorry, and I can never tell her anything in confidence again, nor can I allow my BFF to do so. It was a courtesy, a matter of trust, on Jodi's part, and my MIL can't handle it. Now I know.

Meanwhile, the trip to Dublin is still up in the air because my BIL won't return any calls. Today he saw his wife for the first time in a month. It's so messed up. And my MIL is acting like it's semi-okay. I think maybe her brain IS shutting down. :lmao:

In my pj's now. I bought new ones from the Disney Store for $12.99! Head on in there, everything is on sale!

Urgh, sorry to hear that.

I'm being a bad mom tonight ~ not fixing dinner. Instead we are eating fresh by having Subway. At least it's something healthy.

:rotfl: I love Subway. I also love to eat cereal at times that aren't breakfast! :thumbsup2

Yes, the sun will come out tomorrow. Tomorrow, tomorrow, I'll love ya tomorrow, you're only a daaaaaay aaaaaa waaaaaay!

Is it strange that I sang along :confused3

I say this to dh almost once a week. He has yet to say yes :sad1:

That was me! Its only a 4 hour flight from where I am. I will take lots of photos - by then I WILL be at target weight and I WILL look fabulous! :rotfl:

:lmao: :rotfl2: This goes way back to the first thread....the dancing bananas really freak me out! :lmao:

Hmm, now Im intrigued. Im at work so my dilemma is do I actually do some work or do I go hunting for the first thread? How well you know me, yes im going to look for the thread :rotfl2:

Tomorrow is Monday! You know how I love Mondays! :cool1: (And for our new friends, yes, I really do!)

Really? I only just managed to peel myself out of bed this morning (mind you, it was a billion below zero thanks to no heat!)

I'm fine with looking dorky, it comes naturally to me.

Im with you on that. The dorkier I can look, the better!

Latest injury - I walked into a coffee table yesterday, got a lovely bruise on my shin!

Hope everyones having a great day, Ive just had a really nice salad for lunch - it had lettuce, cucumber, cherry tomato, chargrilled chicken and wholemeal pasta. It was very filling and very healthy! :thumbsup2

I would really love to know about your trip plans. I am blue today and nothing makes me happier than WDW plans.

Here's my Monday song for you, courtesy of Fats Domino.

"Blue Monday, how I hate Blue Monday, got to work like a slave all day".

Me too. Cold and dark in the morning. Doesn't really make this sleepy head want to rise and shine

BRRRR....Today IS the day, right? The heat *finally* gets fixed today? Do you have any kind of fireplace or wood stove? :confused3 Or are you just..freezing your little bummocks off?

Hope everyones having a great day, Ive just had a really nice salad for lunch - it had lettuce, cucumber, cherry tomato, chargrilled chicken and wholemeal pasta. It was very filling and very healthy! :thumbsup2

Yum. That sounds good. I didn't have my lunch figured out yet...I think I do now!!!

Yep, today is THE day. I just got a phone call from my Dad to say the plumber has just got there! Fingers, toes and all other extremeties crossed!

We have got a tiny little gas fire, but the downstairs of the house is open plan, and the staircase is open so what little heat it gives out is instantly gone! So yes, the bummocks have been frozen off! :rotfl2:

Yum. That sounds good. I didn't have my lunch figured out yet...I think I do now!!!

It was so good, I could eat it again! :thumbsup2
