In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

OMG, I didn't post my challenge stuff:

I exercised 210 mins this week. I tracked almost everyday ~ just haven't logged it anywhere other than my journal. That was exciting for me ~ a big motivator. My mental thing ~ I am so counting the picture posting for today, lol.

Morning morning everyone. I was just too bushed to post yesterday. We had taken the kids on a 75 mile snowmobile ride Saturday afternoon/evening and I was just flat out tired!! I hope you all forgive me!!

Kat/Aimee: So love your hair pics!! Kat, your shade is perfecto and Aimee you have NOTHING to be ashamed of!! PS-I hate pics of myself too. :goodvibes

I have been coloring my hair for WAAAAY too many years too. Not because of gray (and frankly I have no idea how gray I truly am) but because I absolutely hate my natural hair color. It is just this mousy brown, not shiny flat laying yucky mess! Color gives me shine and body and highlights, something I never had naturally.

Rod: So love the ghost of Christmas fat image. You made me laugh this morning!! :lmao: :lmao: Congrats on the weight loss and welcome aboard!

Erika: You are spot on with your hammie assessment. When you trail run or run on uneven surfaces you should be shortening your gait up. When you run on clear surfaces or the TM, you can open up and fly. I always have a short gait (it is how I generate more power) so trail running does not bother me much. I have to say though that being outside running for the first time in months was just heaven to me!! :cloud9:

Does anyone have any suggestions about weak knees? I did BL CardioMax yesterday and my left knee crackles like Snap Crackle Pop! Don't think I hurt anything, just modified the work out. Are there exercises to strenghten you knee?:confused3

There can be many causes of that crackling. My knees crackle constantly due to osteoarthritis that I have developed since having my meniscus removed from a volleyball "incident" in my left knee. It does not hurt though, just crackling to break up the arthritis. You could also have a tendon popping. Can you pinpoint the popping a little better for me and/or the pain you feel? It may help out. If it is arthritis, you cannot really strengthen but the more you exercise the less you have the popping. If it is a tendon, yes you can strengthen it and I would be happy to help you out there.

:yay: Everyone else!!!

As for me, well, snowmobiling, field hockey and I GOT TO RUN OUTSIDE!! That was my weekend. Did I mention I got to run outside? Shelby was so PO'd at me because I got back from my run in time to swab off, change clothes, fix shake, bottle of water and fly out the door to field hockey. I had to tell her she was just lucky I even came back. :rolleyes1 Because I really did not want to. I only got in 5.67 miles but it was worth every minute and mile. We took a short snowmobile ride after that and the conditions were horrible but it kind of ruined the planned ski/run finish. Such is life. It is going to be warm again on Wednesday so my non-run day will be a run for sure!

Today is a short run of 3-5 miles and weather depending, I may ski or run. The wind is blowing a gale up here and I will have to make the call later. I have been doing really good on my calories and fat. Yesterday was hard as I was back to normal post-run starving but I managed it well eating every 2 hours and making the calories count. I did some research on Saturday and for me to get down to the body fat I want, I would have to weigh 115 and that is just not an option for me. I weighed 112 with 15% body fat when I started dating Mike in 1992 and that was post-2 bodybuilding competitions. So not happening again for me so I am trying to be realistic and happy about the way I look and feel again. Still, I am going for those last 10 pounds.... I would like them gone by Virginia Beach in September.

Have a super day everyone!!! :flower3:

GOOD MORNING

I promise I have read back.

Kat / Aimee - LOVE the new hair dos!

Rod - Welcome :cool1:

Everyone :flower3:

Im in a bit of a funk. Need to snap out of it.

Have a great day everyone :)

Good Morning Lisa. I don't have any pain and the popping seems like it is coming from behind the knee cap, does that make sense. Osteoarthritis runs in my family, so I wouldn't be suprised. I just don't want to hurt myself just as I get started with exercising after I don't know years.

Hi Kelly!

Sunny, the more exercise that you get, that popping should stop. You could have a maltracking patella which is, more times than not, caused by having a tight IT band and that pulling it off course. As long as you have no pain, just keep going. If you have pain, you need to be checked by your MD. There is no way to diagnosed OA besides x-rays and they will tell you how bad it is. Try some extra stretching for your IT band and see if the noise eases up. Also, limit your hard pounding and/or jumping until your knees get used to it. I take a glucosamine/chondroitin supplement and it seems to help me. The consensus is still out on whether it truly helps or not. For me, it does, mental or not, it just does.

I hope this has helped you out some. Whether you have arthritis or tendon tightness, exercise is the way to go for sure. Seriously though, if you develop pain, please go see your MD!

Lisa PR, how great to be able to run outside!

Kelly, I know funks. Yuck. Maybe you will run into someone famous. I swear this Bruce sighting is good for a week. Anything to pull me out of funk-dom!

Did somebody say Bruce??? :lmao:

Good morning everybody! Ugh, I need coffee. One kiddo is heading out the door for the bus (trying to sneak out without brushing his teeth) and the other one is getting dressed.

I do not want to go to work today ~ it's gloomy and rainy.

I hate gloomy and rainy. Yuck yuck yuck.

I want to run today, but I am wiped. Wiped. But it's sunny. :thumbsup2

OMG, remember when I gave Bruce my parking space? Did I mention that? :rotfl:

Also, did I mention he looked really good? Like he had stepped off a poster? And that I thought, well, I should get in better shape. You know, in case I run into him again.

Amish girl in training might need a Bruce pic for her siggie...Techie Girls! Amish girl in training needs you! Activate the sign in the night! It's me and Nancy holding up a big drawing of a computer! :lmao:

Morning everyone. I managed to have a lot of fun this week-end despite a myriad of disasters.

Yesterday was supposed to be my rest day, but I ended up logging 6.5 miles. I did a 3.1 mile run with Cammie, a 2.1 mile run with Kelly (because they both just want it "to be just you and me." How could I say no?) And then snowshoeing for 1.3 miles.

The disasters...so I posted about the ice dam a few days ago. We have now discovered FOUR pipes that burst. And as of early this morning it looks like the furnace has some issue! Thank God we heat with wood, but still! I don't even want to think about what this could cost. I guess we'll file an insurance claim for the pipes, and the furnace is still relatively new, so I am hoping that it is not a major issue.

Kat--love the hair! Looks great, though on my screen it doesn't look black...a rich brown. In any case, looks good. Love it.

Yes, Liz and I share a brain and Lyz and I are BFFs and Kat and I are sisters. Everyone got it now? :rotfl2:

Sunny, Amiee, Stacey--I will update your challenge results.

Happy Monday everyone!

Oh! And the hammie is REALLY painful today. Super painful. Like, I am limping around the house. Ok, so I won't run today. But what can I/should I do for cardio? Not sure that I should do either the bike or the elliptical?? For strength I can do upper body and core today, so that is something. But I need my daily dose of cardio! We have a rowing machine at the gym, but that is still a lot of ham work.

Liz! Need more info. on Bruce. Did you say anything to him? And he was in his car? Looking to park? Explain. Details. Call me Lyz.

Rod--yes, we love the details here! At 170 it sounds like you should be at a good place? My husband is 175 and doesn't need to lose an ounce. He is short (5' 9") but muscular. So we want to know about your height, build, etc.

Oh, and we have some rockin' single women here. Just sayin. :rolleyes1

And Nancy! WTH! The banana! Are we really back to that again? :lmao:

Erika, first up :wizard: for your many disasters. Sorry about the pipes and furnace. Wow.

Cardio--run in the pool. It is great cardio and takes the stress off things. Or you could swim for your cardio. I would not suggest rowing or elliptical. Your second best bet would be biking.

Stretch that hammie, use the stick, and take some Advil for the swelling and pain. Super sorry that you are not top shelf today!! :flower3:

Lyz, try running or walking. It may make you feel better, just saying. :rolleyes1

Me Liz? Or Lyz? :confused3 Heck, we both should do that! :rotfl:

Ok, so, E, sorry it's disaster city there. Love the happy family time. And um. Maybe you need one day off? ONE? Maybe???

Yes, I will call and gush over BRUCE. Quickly: he pulled up, asked if I was leaving. I said no, I was loafing, but I'd leave for him. He laughed and smiled, pulled back, waited patiently, and I freaked out in the car with Jackie. We were wearing workout clothes, btw, bc we had just taken a walk around town.

He looked good! And I was super cool and totally didn't stalk him.

Good Morning everyone...

Erika - good luck with the pipe situation. Those are never fun. Let me know if you need anything.

Kat - totally loving the new hair...

Liz - must get more details on Bruce like what kind of car does he drive?

Amiee - smile... I am sending sunshine images your way to take the gloom and doom away

Kelly - sending you hugs for your funk... :grouphug:

Lyz - love how you need your details...

Stacey - hope you are still feeling better and on the mend

Steph - how are things up north?

Sarah - thanks for sharing the recipe. May have to try that...

LisaPR - your knowledge continues to amaze me... it is impressive

Good Morning to everyone else...

Woke up starving today so I am thinking I may have been a little light on calories yesterday - either that or light on veggies / fiber to fill me up. Need to go grab some breakfast and get the grumbellies to go away. Trying to decide if I want to do a cardio workout tonight and take Wednesday off or to take tonight off and do cardio on Wednesday. I'll figure that out at some point today.

Off to get some work done. Talk to you all later....

Liz:hug:

You have so much on your plate. Please be good to yourself. I'm sorry that Nick didn't get it. But now you've told him. Any better? I sigh for everything that you have to face. It must have been so difficult to see the changes in your mother. She is something, eh?

You must be so tired Liz. So incredibly wiped.

With love to you,

Lisa

Cutie!

Good for you for voicing it all. Step one. Of course you're there. Ongoing concern for Allison. I"m sure some of the hubby stuff plays. I am talking outloud - sorry if I am making assumptions. Our minds and our bodies can only take so much. There are people that simply flow through life. I had a moment where my therapist changed my life. I was whining about why I couldn't be one of those people. She told me "Lisa, everyone is different. But I will tell you that a lot of times if you feel the low - you feel a different high point". It's so true. So true. I have the most glorious moments/insights coming from low points. Don't get me wrong it sucks and is wrong to be low for too long. For sure. But I am not a believer of some "feel positive" all the time a la the secret. Because there are true gifts in the low, true gifts, and I simply would not trade those gifts for anything.

I've said it before - Lyz you need to look after Lyz more. I will not patronize because unfortunately I am not a mother. But regardless you need to look after yourself.

Also Lyz,

You'll so hate this. :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl:

But eating is huge in moments like this. Won't change everything. But tremendous differences. Sugar sends you on more of a downer.

But I know it's like a vicious cycle cause one craves carbs and sugar like no tomorrow to "fix" the head. But then crash.

Okay I'm probably depressing you.
