In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

I thought this was your sleep-in day!!

You are beautiful!! Next step, get Amiee to love herself... :goodvibes

Hope it feels better! And :rotfl2: at Kelly's comment.

Forgot my checkin for yesterday:
1) Calories, under 1200 (too far under, but oh well, I wasn't hungry). Under 20g carbs. Check
2) Exercise, 30 min walk, 30 min on stepper. Check
3) Water, 96 oz. Check
4) Alcohol, none (even w/ D drinking wine, darn him). Check

It was supposed to be my sleep in day, but my phone rang at 8:30. And is was the wrong number! AGH!!! Oh well! Yes, I admit that I have some issues loving myself.

Hi All,

Well, I'm new here and I don't know anyone on the board except the HockeyKat. So, I'll just post some basics here and later, after I get my profile fixed right and so forth, I'll share a little about myself and how I got here. :coffee:

#1 Name and Family you care to share plus a little about your weight struggles/programs you are on: Roddy(33), Single - I've struggled with my weight since I was a young child. I was the 'fat kid' through school. Finally, over the past three years or so, have gotten a bit of a handle on it.

#2 What are some of your trigger foods? Bread, Pizza, Flour and Corn Tortillas and so forth!

#3 What form of exercise (activity) would you love to do but have limited yourself from due to weight/confidence? Not sure about this, I'm not much of a public personality. I want to look in the mirror and be happy with what I see.

#4 Occupation (if legal) I work for a company that produces power cables. I do what is required. I don't have a particular job title but I assist with engineering duties mainly.

#5 What do you want to achieve from a healthier body / lifestyle? I would like to get married one day, but I realize that in order to make a wise choice in a spouse, I need to learn self-confidence and self-control. Losing weight, I feel, is a great way to learn both.

#6 If you could celebrate with anything when you reach/ed goal, what would it be...or what would it have been? If I can reach and maintain my goal weight, I think that will prove to myself that I can do anything.

Welcome!!

Omg! Another guy!!! What are we at? 2 now? Welcome!!!!

Kat - congrats to Mr. Kat for his loss. That is awesome. Still don't think it is fair that men tend to lose at a quicker rate than women, but what can you do. We all have our struggles.

Sunny - I am super careful about putting too much strain on my knees (doctor's orders). I modify everything to pretty much eliminate the jumping. I don't have any words of wisdom about strengthening the knee. I'll leave that to the resident experts like Erika, Lisa PR and Nancy. Good luck though.

Welcome Rod!!!! Hope you jump in and speak up in this bunch. We reallly aren't that scare - really! Self confidence and self control are both things that I am working on as well.

The cardio workout went well. Nothing too big to report there. 35 minutes, 8 miles and lots of intervals. Food wise, I am doing ok today. I am heading to a friend's birthday party tonight and will be faced with pizza and salad as food options. I am going to eat my JC before I leave and then eat salad while I am there. I just don't trust myself with pizza this close to my weigh in. All that sodium really makes me retain water.

Oh - and for those of you following the dating saga, I am going to call cup o joe tonight and let him know that I don't think this is going to work. Aside from my not feeling any particular spark towards him chemistry wise, his constant calling to check in on me is really freaking me out. He has called and left two messages already today (I admit, I am screening his calls now) and one of the messages sounded too angry for my tastes. This guy has control freak written all over him I think. It was a valiant attempt, but I don't think we are meant to be together.

Have a great night and I'll touch base with you later.

Paula

I agree follow your instict.... Sounds like he's getting creepy...

OMG. Take before and afters!

I agree!!!

Well its looking like the on again off again rain is going to stop my work out but what the heck its Sunday... One day off is deserved... Went shopping... got lots of dried fruit (my new candy) at Sprouts... Only bought 1 "bad' treat which was 100 calorie Little Debbie Nutty Bars... I am trying to eat less "junk"... We'll see how this goes... LOL!

Hey Rod! Welcome! SO glad to have you here! And any friend of Kat's is good as gold here. :goodvibes

Family game night turned into family "jam" night and it was HI LAR IOUS. OMG, I have to start recording (video) these sessions. SO funny. They all played their various instruments which left me on vocals.

And Liz! Riley ended up in the wrong house at birth. He is so your son. He knows EVERY song by like EVERY band. Ever. And he's 9!!! We quizzed him tonight. He scored 100% on bands like Queen, the Grateful Dead, Tom Petty, Allman Brothers, the Ramones, and then even older...Beatles, CSN...then to more modern like Weezer (sp). Off the charts stuff like Derek Trucks Band. We were just like, "How do you KNOW this stuff???"

And LisaV! I have a new band for you. You are going to LOVE, love, love this band. 100% your style. They are String Cheese Incident. Get past the name...their music is awesome.

Wow, Thanks for rolling out the welcome mat, everyone. It'll take me a while to learn everyone's names and how to operate the posting and replying and quotes and such. So, to everyone, again, thanks for the warm welcome! :yay:

And, yes, the HockeyKat is my long lost twin sister. It's crazy the crap we have in common. She's great, though. If I hadn't had her there to encourage me and help me mentally, I don't think I'd have done as good a job with the weight loss as I have.

Here's a bit of a preliminary and I'll fill in the blanks later: About three years ago I was visited by the ghost of Christmas fat as I stepped on the scales the day after Christmas to be greeted with a read out of "235". The ghost gave me a vision of what the next few Christmases could hold for me if I didn't do something about my weight. To make a short story even shorter, I decided 'no more excuses, time to get busy' and I met this past Christmas at about 170 lbs! So, still have a little ways to go to get to my goal and as always, the holidays bring set backs. The set backs weren't that bad though and it's time to get off my butt and get back in gear. I think joining the board will definitely help with that. :surfweb:

Thanks everybody for the kick in the butt about me and my confidence! It's one more reason why I love coming around.

I think I might add it to my facebook.

I love the Ghost of Christmas Fat title... too funny... I must have been a really good / bad? girl since this ghost visited me regularly for 30 some odd years. I'll put out some type of sign telling him he is no longer welcome.

Rod - congrats on the 65 pound loss. That is amazing!!!!

Sounds like everyone is having a good Sunday so far.

Its official - cup o joe is history. I feel totally cool with the decision. I was considering a second date to give him a shot until the angry message. I told him that I didn't feel the spark and wished him well. I think that will be the end of it.

Made it through the party with one slice of pizza and a big salad. All in all, it was find. I am now drinking lots of water.

Dawn - great job on the shopping. Remember - knowledge is power so keep learning.

talk to you all later,
Paula

Hi Steph! Glad the kiddos are on the mend!

Paula - great job on the party. :thumbsup2

Today's totals:

food: 28 points. Including 6 very unfortunate points that were from Oatmeal Peanut Butter cookies. OMG were they good though :rolleyes1

Alcohol: still none.

Exercise: nothing "official". Two days rest. I'm getting jittery!

Okay, so I dyed my hair black. Like, BLACK.

Here is a pic:

I'm kind of bummed that tomorrow is monday, that's my super long day (work then school).... oh well

I cheated and weighed myself this morning and i'm down 1 lb from friday (and thats even after having eaten birthday cake yesterday!!!!) I have also tracked everything so i'm holding up that end of the challenge!

I've been scrubbing my house and doing homework all day, so i don't feel like i've gotten much accomplished.... Well, off to read the posts i've missed!!!vv:goodvibes

I love it!

Made my pad thai tonight! Came out good but watery... Oh well tasted good...
http://www.cookingcache.com/seafood/padthai.shtml?rdid=rc1 I substituted pam for the oil, shiritaki noodles for rice noodles, splenda for sugar, and only used 6 peanuts. 434 calories total... not sure about carbs... Was very tasty!!!

Ok this was funny. And you have lost a bunch of weight. I can't think you have much more to go? What did you do to lose? Are you toning now? How do you know Kat? Do you go by Roddy? What's your given name? How tall are you? Thanks. That's all...for now.

Oh yeah, Kat. Hair. Awesome. Just sayin'.

Kat - hair=hot.

Nancy - you DO say the right thing. And you make me laugh. xoxo

Roddy - Welcome!!! I am Kat's BFF, did she tell you? She LOVES me. I am her girly girl. We are happy to have you here!

Hi Stacy!

Hi Steph!!!

Lisa V - MISS YOU.

The ham is KILLING me today. Truly...from my hip, down the back of my leg (ham) to my knee. The whole leg. I have a theory...I have been running outside a lot and the roads are really uneven (we don't salt the roads here, so there is a lot of ice, slush, snow build-up, etc.). And I think the constant negotiating of that (and just being on these uneven surfaces in general) has caused me to alter my gait in a weird way and thus end up sore. I don't know. I have never done trail runs--which is exactly what my running is like these days--so it is still just a theory.

I am heading out for a run right now though--pain and all. No, I am not being an idiot. This is just my little run with Cammie. 2.6 miles or so and we take 2-3 walk breaks. I think it will actually loosen this up a bit. We'll see.

Family day here, as always. After our mother/daughter run, we are all going for a quick snowshoe trek (1.5 miles) and then bowling, I think. With the disco lights. The kids LOVE it.

Have a great day!

P.S. OMG funny...this just happened while I was typing. Kelly is doing "pretend play" right now. And she has this very real looking cell phone that she just loves. And she made it ring, picked up and said, "Hello? Oh HI Liz! Mommy can't talk to you right now, but I can..." HI LAR IOUS. Talk much?

OMG too funny!!! :rotfl: Em always asks if you are the one with the three kids, and I have to tell her their names!

Roddy - Welcome! Are you my brother. Bread. Pizza. Tortillas. (one week at our house, we had "pizza week". Pizza from a different place every night. Yum. - Opps, that's not helping much is it.)

Lyz, we are so sisters.

Hey Rod! Welcome! SO glad to have you here! And any friend of Kat's is good as gold here. :goodvibes

So, today I saw Bruce Springsteen. Gave him my parking space. So cool. I am still squeeing over it!
