In Search of my Body...Not The One I ate...#3 "Crowning Goddesses As We Go"

Just saying hi -- busy, busy at work today. Bleh.

I lost my Vera virginity today, though, so that is exciting, right? And the planning is in full swing!

Thanks girls!! I am working on my report, I am realizing I have alot to say about it!!

My thighs are a bit sore today, but nothing horrible. I am taking today off and I'll get back to something tomorrow. My 30 day shred DVD should get in this week. I decided it was time for Jillian to kick my butt. I've been losing the same 4 or 5 pounds for the last month. Ugh. What's weird is I am fitting into my clothes better. I guess it's just not showing on the scale yet.

What size weights do I need for that DVD??

Safe Travel for everyone going to FL this week!! Weather is gorgeous. I am wearing jeans, but I am sure all of you northerners will be out in the shorts and tank tops. Thanks so much for inviting me over to hang out. There is just no way I'll be able to make it.:sad2: I've been asked to do a million things this coming weekend, not to mention all I need to do to get ready for my parents visit the following friday, AND finishing christmas stuff. Holidays stress me out SO much.

Erika, we will have to try to meet up in January. What are your dates for that trip??

I am off to start decorating so I can post pics!!

Lisa, so happy that you found a renter and a good one at that.

Amy, sorry that you won't make it over. :(

I decided today that, because of the price of gas (or really, because gas is so CHEAP), that I was going drive to Orlando this weekend, and change my flight to go see my parents for the holidays. Gas around here is at $1.70ish, and it is usually cheaper in SC and GA, so I should be able to drive down for approx. $100.

Anyhow, driving to Pittsburgh in late Dec is a lot iffier of a proposition than driving to Orlando will be, due to weather. I will leave Christmas Day and come back on the 30th. My mom could really use some good news this week... her friend's funeral is Wednesday.

SO, I guess I need to start thinking about packing... going to a hockey game Thurs night so I really only have tomorrow and Wed night...

Hi Gang...

Amy - we are going to miss you this weekend.... We'll have a drink for you though....

Lisa - congrats on the rental... that is great (and sad) news... It is going to a good home and it will be there next year when you need it... sending you hugs...

OK - I am in freak out mode as well... I am still trying to wrap up things at work so that I can get the heck out of here and a freakin pipe just broke in one of my projects and water is spewing everywhere... just what I need the night before I leave on vacation... it is being worked on and should be taken care of before I get on the plane, but....

All right, back to some mad typing... need to get a few more things done and then I can head out and finish my packing at home....

talk to you all later,
Paula

Aaah Paula. What a work day. Geez.

Thanks for your thoughts. It's just a trip. But as for next year or the next...

They've changed the booking policies after I booked Paula. Long story. And the changes make it almost impossible for me to get BW view NY again. Another long story. And this booking, with a good policy for my point numbers, was like a lottery. Gosh it was like being in Vegas. They were gone within minutes of opening. You should have seen me I did the 8:58:45 not pushing any buttons trick every day. If you're not picked up within the first round that's it.

This is not all DVC. This is BW view NYE week booking nonsense.

But thanks. I've got my health. I have love in my life. Crying is fine. Those were my emotions. And that's valid. I'm frustrated. It meant more than a reservation for me. But my Lord people are suffering in the world and this is a WDW reservation. I know. (I'm talking outloud once again - founder of crazytown)

Too funny. Some jealous, envious person - probably POed that a woman made a good, unheard of price point on the DISboards - business deal - put a sarcastic post (with a new DISname of course:lmao: ) - "good luck on renting it" - insinuating that I'm lying. Whatever. :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: Got to love the DISboards.

I can't wait for the pics Amy. Can't wait. You need varying weights at different times/different exercises Amy. I have twos, fives and tens. And I use them all for Jillian. It depends on so much. I guess that really didn't help much. ;)

Kat:surfweb: ,

That's so lovely. :lovestruc. I want to say more. But that's enough. Lovely. :lovestruc

Lisa

OMG, I have SO much to do before we leave. SO much. Freaking out....

Hang in there. As every other single time. It will be done. Somehow. I'm really psyched for all of you. I can't wait to join you one day. Exciting.

Lisa

And Amy - the scale will catch up. Or sometimes it doesn't in a way we think (I know you of all people know this). You're just smaller. I know many many athletes who look like an entirely different person and they say :confused3 to those around them going "oh you lost so much!". And they say five or ten pounds. And people don't believe them at all. The body just changes. I even said that this morning. I'm noticing big changes. I've had constant downward numbers on the scale. But very small amounts each week. Nothing that seems as big as the changes.

I can't wait for the report Amy. I so love following races.

Fitting differently is because you're a runner now Amy. You're a runner. And runners have totally different bodies. Yeah for you!:thumbsup2

You should be so darn proud of yourself. :lovestruc

I am with Lisa, Amy... your body definitely changes from exercise.

And as to the 30 day shred, I would start with 2s and see how you feel.

Lisa, sorry about the BW view NYE ressie. I do know exactly how hard that is to get, and even more so now that they messed up their booking policies.

And as to the 30 day shred, I would start with 2s and see how you feel.

Yep. You're absolutely right Kat. :surfweb: When I think about it the only one I use the heavy ohes for are any over the head moves.

Thanks Kat. The new policy works wonderfully for those who use the weekend points. Really well. But I rarely do. And won't with my BW points. I don't have a lot.

They were probably trying to save money. It's the first time I went day by day in three years. But I knew it was necessary for that exact booking. And people were day by daying when they didn't need to just to be sure. So I'm sure call volume was up. And that's money. Who knows.

I complained about the nutso NYE bookings. But in a way it was fun. We all talked online every day to see if any of us, all of us, got it.

I'm still smiling thinking about your holiday plans Kat.

Space Coast ½ Marathon-11/30/08

This was my first ½ marathon. It was a great experience.:goodvibes Since this was my first half, I tried to not set too many expectations, other than using it as a learning experience and hopefully finishing in under 3 hours. I am using the MfM R:W plan for training and was a bit concerned because I only trained up to 9 miles (I had been hoping to get to 10 as the plan recommends, but LTO and I only made it to 9).

Packet Pick-Up/Night Before
-Packet pick up was at the host hotel (Radisson at Port Canaveral), and was super easy. I was able to exchange my shirt for a smaller size too. They also had a pretty nice dinner set up ( free for runners, maybe 5 dollars for family?). We didn’t eat dinner there since we had a large lunch and I just wasn’t ready to eat at that time. I ended up getting a salad and having a slice of pizza later on. I went to bed around 11 after getting all my stuff ready and slept until 2, then kept waking up every half hour or so, having dreams all night of oversleeping and missing the race. I got up at 430 and was on the shuttle to the start just before 5am. The shuttle was great, on time and a nice bus.

Pre-Race
-The race started and ended in Cocoa Village, which was really nice and was all lit up with Christmas lights. Bag Check, Finish line and port a potties were all in the park there (name escapes me at the moment). The race was due to start at 6am, so I walked around a bit and warmed up, used the potties a couple of times, then checked my bag and headed to my corral. The corrals were assigned based on the time you gave when registering.

The Race Itself: The race started about 10 minutes late, not sure why. There was a space shuttle liftoff themed countdown on a jumbotron. The course was an out and back. North for 6.5 miles along the Indian River and back to town. Full runners continued south once reaching town again for 6.5 miles and then headed back. The course went through a residential area (VERY nice houses!). There were quite a few residents out to watch the race. There was even a guy at mile 12 misting people with his garden hose!! Also, once I hit the turn around to go back, I was running into some very strong wind!!! There was Water and Gatorade every mile, Gu at mile 8 and for the full they had Gu at every stop after mile 14 and sponges at some of them. It was very flat, and I think it would be a good course to PR on. Lots of volunteers and a lot of them were in space themed costumes. Plentiful potties too on the course!!

The first 8 miles or so flew by. I tried to stick to my intervals (Run5/Walk1) as much as possible. I had some clif shot bloks every few miles and took the Gu at mile 8. Miles 9 and 10 were really rough. My legs were TIRED. I walked ALOT more and ran slower. I was able to pick up the pace again for 11,12 and 13. And I finished in 2:48 (probably 2:44 if you take out potty stops). Got TONS of comments on my WISH shirt, I wore the race ready one I just got in the mail. There was also a timing mat at the turnaround.

Apparently they even announced my name and town when I came into the park to finish. I didn’t hear it, but DH did. I got my chip cut off and then got my medal, which is totally cool. It’s way wider and heavier than the Minnie 15K medal. They also gave us beach towels! The shirt is a long sleeve brooks tech shirt. Also got my picture taken with my medal and the guy took one of me and DH too. They also took one pre-race and several during the race.

Final thoughtsI am really glad I did this race. I find comfort in feeling that I have a better idea of what to expect at Disney (of course this race wasn’t nearly as big as Disney, so that will be new). I know what I’ll need to do for fueling and hydration for 13.1 miles. I am a little sore today, but nothing like I thought it would be.

I am still kind of mentally processing that I have actually completed a ½ marathon. I think back to what I was doing a year ago (nothing) and it blows my mind to think of how far I have come. So glad that I have found WISH. I am very much looking forward to January!

Here are a couple pics. All the race pics I took are on a disposable, so I need to get that developed. Hopefully the ones taken by the race photog's will be up soon.

Lisa, Kat, Thanks for your rec's on which weight's to use. I figured 2 pounds would be a good place to start. Also thanks for your comments about the weight loss. :goodvibes

MIL just this weekend asked how much weight I had lost since september when we last saw her. She said it looked like a ton. And couldn't believe it when I told her at most, 5-7 pounds!! (she then proceeded to tell me that I'd be dead if I tried to run 13.1 miles. Umm,okay??:confused3 )

WOO HOO, Amy! GREAT Bling! Sounds like an awesome race. I would have loved some of that for my first half. We only had 4 water stops on the whole course and that made it tough. Every mile is a dream! And to have Gu right at mile 8--just when you need it! Awesome.

I had a similar experience in that miles 9 and 10 were definitely my hardest.

Yeah, we have to make plans for the January race. J is coming with me and will run also, but he runs a 7:45 (yeah, I know...I hate him, too), so we will be in his dust. I am on pace for 11:00, but am not sure how it will go on race day. I lost the mental game (big time) in the Half from Sept. and I don't think that will happen here. Also, there are no hills, so that should really help (my last one had 3.5 miles of rollig hills and it was brutal.

With your R:W plan, what are you pacing at?

LISA--sorry about seeing the BWV go, but at least you got a decent price for it and it went to a family. Good for you for being able to see the positive in that! And you WILL get that reservation again. You will. I know about the new rules, but there are loopholes and tricks of the trade to get around them (and of course I will help you with that when the time comes! ;) ).

I have been mentall packing all day and I think I know what I am bringing on the trip...still have lots of decisions to make though.

LYZ! Where are you?!?!

Paula--travel safely tomorrow. :goodvibes

Kat--buy the beer already!

LIZ--check in. Need to hear about the rest of the day in the city and dinner.

Ok so I weighed in tonight! I was kinda surprised that my Mom wasn't there! I figure she skipped because she ate way to much this week! Unfortunately she has switched to the flex instead of the points and now she thinks it's ok to have to small yogurts and some other small thing! I tried to point out that she isn't eating enough calorie wise but she just got mad at me so OH WELL!
As for me In the last two weeks I have gained! R U READY for how much (note: haven't been tracking either)

0.2

Yup thats right not bad! Unfortunately I did track points tonight and I was over by about 8. Not bad because my week for WW started tonight! I I have to just know that I will have NO oreo's tonight, NO snacks with steph! I WILL BE GOOD! I really don't want anything NOW anyhow because I really over ate at dinner!

So food for today!
Breakfast~ Coffee cake small slice ~ 6 points
Lunch~ cheeseburger from McD's small fry Iced coffee (no sugar) ~12 points
Snack~ 2/3 cup of honey bunches of oats dry~ 2 points
Dinner~ 4 oz steak baked potato carrots spinach salad sour cream ~18 points
Like I said I over did the dinner and BOY DO I KNOW IT!

SO I haven't exercised ;) in about a WEEK~ He treated me horribly over thanksgiving and So my way to get even with him is to shut him off! I told him tonight when he mentioned that there hasn't been any activity that that is what he gets for treating me like crap keep it up and the strike will continue!:scared1: I am so sick of his son coming first over the rest of us and him treating him like he is 5 and to save him from a temper tantrum then he does what ever he (nate) wants him to do. Today I was home and he picked him up and then never came home till he had brought him home at 430 - 500. The kid was here from thursday to Saturday and never said more than 2 words to us (not including stephen) all that time! I think I got a thanks and bye! and they were both forced by stephen!   ANd the thing that PISSES ME OFF THE MOST IS THAT STEPH DOESN"T SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT!!!!!!!!:headache:
Ok RANT OVER!
going to go watch prison break since no one is on and It is safe to go down stairs since steph has gone to bed!

Including a MAJOR meeting on Friday morning. Like I am going to be able to focus on THAT day!

Really.

I will post pictures of holiday stuff I just put up my winter Village! I am so excited

Steph, glad you are enjoying your new house.

WW tonight!

How did WW go? Nevermind, I just read it. On an exercise strike, eh? Gotta do what you gotta do

OK - so I think I have everything packed... just need to pack my carryon bag and put my makeup bag in the suitcase tomorrow and I am ready to go.... Of course this all is based on the idea that I finish everything at work that I need to finish... way too many reports to finish, minutes to type up and then there is the 6" high stack of filing to do... ugh... I don't know what is worse, the day before a vacation or the first day back....

I'm sure I will check in here before I head for bed tonight, but in the event that I don't, have a great week everyone and I'll catch up with you all when I get back....

Paula

Steph - good luck with Zac's foot.... I had a friend who had a plantars wart and that was just plain gross and generally yucky... Hope it gets cleared up soon...

E - Stay focused at the big meeting on Friday... I'll be thinking of you while I am on the TOT....:rotfl:

Paula - so exciting. Have a wonderful time.

Hey all,

I"ve rented it. :sad2:

Cried. Yes, I cried. :lmao: ;)

Anyway, it's a lovely thing. It's a family. They're Canadian so I don't have to deal with exchanging any money. They are surprisiing their children.

Awww - But what a great rent. You made that family's holiday very special.

I lost my Vera virginity today, though, so that is exciting, right? And the planning is in full swing!

:rotfl: Was it good?

Thanks girls!! I am working on my report, I am realizing I have alot to say about it!!

My thighs are a bit sore today, but nothing horrible.

How is that possible? Ok, so I read your race report. (but didn't quote it :sad2: ). I love the statement about where you have come since last year. And you were doing nothing. What an accomplishment. I mean a half is a BIG thing for athletes, but for someone who was "doing nothing", BIG BIG BIG!!!

Kat - I guess I missed when your moms friend died. Hurts. And I'm glad you're going home for Christmas. That is lovely.

and a freakin pipe just broke in one of my projects and water is spewing everywhere... just what I need the night before I leave on vacation... it is being worked on and should be taken care of before I get on the plane, but....

So Typical!!!

Ohh, I'll have to go check that witch out!

I've had a busy day. The end of the year is here. And the holidays. And I just seem to be busier than ever. But on point - which is good.

I am making cookies tonight. Going to a cookie exchange tomorrow night. More for the fun than the cookies.

Will check in tomorrow.

Erika, I can't imagine what it would feel like to run a 7:45 pace for a 1/2 marathon.

At this point, on a good day my intervals get me below 11:30 and on a not so good day 12:30. I have a very hard time pacing myself outside sometimes even with the garmin. I need to learn to walk faster too. Somedays it seems like it is better for me just to run outright with no stops and other days I need the walk breaks. Maybe we can run at least a few miles together if you don't mind a running buddy ( I know some people prefer to do everything solo). It would probably do me some good to run with someone a bit faster than me. I am also pretty sure they set up pace groups on the events/competition board.

The races at Disney are so big!! ( I think 20K for the half) :scared1: I have visions of spending the first few miles being wall to wall people. And of course you have to stop for pictures with characters too!! I know I will be in the absolute last corral too which I don't think is a good thing. I'm not expecting Disney to be a great place to PR. And the weather the last 2 years has been absolutely horrible from what I have read. It can be downright freezing/damp, or freaking hot and humid. I will have to bring every possible running outfit I have and see what it is like that day. The races are starting earlier too! did you see that??

Ok, that was a long response...I guess I had a lot to say.

Steph--you know I love you, right? I have some stuff to say and I hope you will hear it the right way. I know that you do such an AWESOME job with your kids...the way you manage all of the medical stuff--truly great.

But with Nate, here's the thing. A few pages back you posted that you hate being a step-mother. I almost posted this then, but I let it go. But clearly you are still having a hard time with that issue, so I thought this might help.

If you feel that way--that you hate being a step-parent--then Nate is definitely picking up on that. And if he is picking up on that, then it is no wonder he doesn't say two words, right? I mean, who is comfortable going into hostile territory? (not to mention that teen-aged boys aren't particularly verbose anyway. ;) )

I am with you on the manners thing, sure...that is the bare minimum, but I am sure he is picking up on how you feel.

And look at it this way...he didn't ASK to be born into this. He didn't ask for his parents to split up when he was very young. He didn't ask for his dad to get married and start a whole new family with new kids. No one consulted him about these massive changes in his young life. As a kid, it totally sucks to see your parent start over with new kids...kids who get to live with that parent 24/7 and you are left out only seeing the parent when it is convenient.

Now, absolutely none of that is YOUR fault at all. Please don't think that is what I am saying. I am just trying to point out his perspective.

And as a parent, YES, Steve (and sorry, I have to spell it that way or I get all confused!) Steve SHOULD be putting his kid first. Don't you put your kids first? Of course you do. Because you are a good mom. He is trying to do what he can to be a good dad to this kid that he doesn't get to be with every day like he does the other 3.

And here is your part to play--YES, Nate gets to be there as much and for as long as he wants. (You made a comment about that a while back. Like, does he just get to be with you on every holiday. YES, he does.) It is his father's house. And you knew that Steve had a son when you married him. You went into this with your eyes open. So now you have to open your home to Nate without hesitation, without negativity, and even without rolling your eyes! :rotfl2:

I know, KNOW, that you are doing a great job. You juggle work, family, ww, a hellish schedule, a new house...all of it. And it is so easy to get frustrated by the things over which we have no control. But this...this is something you need to accept. Accept it and move forward and you will all be happier and breathe easier with the situation.

Ok, off my soapbox.

OK - this is the last pre trip post... I promise...

The pipe has been fixed and the water cleaned up so I can relax now...

I went to my JC appointment for my post thanksgiving reckoning and my pre-trip pep talk... I lost one pound this week... Am freakin thrilled because of the sheer amount of stuffing that I stuffed into my mouth... not only on Thanksgiving, but the fried stuffing balls that we made on Friday with the leftovers (thanks Food Network...) I was so expecting to gain weight this week...

The pep talk was just what I needed. I packed cereals and snacks to bring with me so I can attempt to stay on track. Need to stay mindful, but allow myself some splurges since I am on vacation. My goal is to either stay the same or gain a pound or two. That is what I am working towards...

Almost finished packing... need to select some earrings and stuff to bring with me (a girl has to accessorize...) and I am done. If I don't have it, I don't need it...

Have a great week and I'll catch up with you all when I get back...
I'll miss you all....
Paula
