In Search of my Body...Not The One I ate...#3 "Crowning Goddesses As We Go"

Can I steal you to come draw my blood the next time I need it done? Pwease?:rotfl: I have abnormally small veins and tend to be a difficult stick. :(
Half the time I swear the nurses who take my blood do NOT listen when I say it will be far easier if they use a butterfly needle on me. Using a regular needle on me is like trying to stick a 12 inch PVC pipe into a plastic drinking straw.
Ok NOT to Brag:rolleyes1 or anything but patients tell me I am the best person to draw their blood:blush: and shhhhh :ssst: I only use butterflies!:thumbsup2 So come on up North the next time you need blood drawn and I will gladly do it for you!! Oh I live all the way up NORTH like 7 miles south of Canada ( Hi Lisa Neighbor to the North)

1. You did a great thing today in the rain. Good for you! Our whole fam is doing the National Kidney Walk next month...and we are getting t-shirts. Mine and J's say "Walking for My Daughter" on the back. Riley and Cammie's say "Walking for My Sister" and my parents are doing it as well and their shirts say "Walking for My Granddaughter." Kelly's just says SURVIVOR, which she thinks is totally rockin. Seriously, though, I am super proud of you. You did a wonderful thing and are a great mom to manage this disease with such diligence and dedication.

Ok I love the T-Shirt idea can I steal that for our shirts for next year??? Unfortunately we didn't raise a lot of money this year... my head was into this house purchase. So this is my goal for next year! LOTS of letter writing campaigns and fundraising. We did have walkers same amount from last year, which I would love to increase. But we will see I am grateful for the number of walkers we have. One family had shirts that said
insulin pump - $6000.00
Monthly supplies - $350.00
A CURE - PRICELESS~

2. :lmao: :rotfl2: about the R's! Glad you took it as funny, cause that it how it was intended. I re-read it sober and thought, "ooops, that sounds kinda biatchy..." so I am glad that you didn't take it that way! :goodvibes And yes, Mainers are the same...they DON'T say their Rs where they should and then put them in where they don't belong! :lmao:

Coming from someone from Maine I took it as funny... People from here that keep saying can't you talk right.. Gets me PISSED! I have one girl at work that makes funny of me all the time and I get so mad! I finally turned around and said Well I don't make fun of you and her response was What I don't have an accent... UMM YEAH YOU DO .. I wanted to say you sound stupid with that hick accent you have but I left it alone... I wanted to be the BIGGER girl

All is well here. We have had TONS and TONS of rain, but no damage in our area. Surfing was a bust as the rain washed out the beach road.

Instead, Jeff and I (with kids in tow) drove up north to go house hunting. We are taking advantage of the market and buying a lake house (or, as they are called in Maine, a camp. Basically, a seasonal home on a lake). We looked at 5 properties today...in the pouring rain. But it was still fun. Of the 5 houses we looked at, 3 are good candidates. So we'll see. This means that any of you who would like to vacation in Maine...come on over! You can stay in the lake house any time! ANd the leaves! OMG, up north the leaves are already gorgeous! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Maine in the fall. Lisa/PR--I am sure it is totally beautiful where you are right now!
What a bummer that the hurricane wasn't all that it was cracked up to being.. Got to love New England Hurricanes.. just like a strong storm!:lmao: :rotfl2: . That was a bummer about the road being washed out though! No surfing:sad1: That was one thing I couldn't pick up in Hawaii when I lived there! Surfing or wind surfing but I could get a windsurfer set up in record time!

Morning! See? 6:30 and I am up and ready to go. No hangover. :goodvibes Still raining....

:lmao:
Yes. The next time I need a small tubey of blood drawn I am DEFINATLY flying halflway across the country so you can do it.

Curiouser and curiouser said Alice...this morning I woke up and I'm not sick to my stomach. Maybe I'm not pg? :confused3 With my body who the heck knows?

Good morning everyone!!! Quick drive by again...

Steph: I actually don't have much of an accent. I lived in GA for awhile and lost some of it. I did learn lots of words NOT to say like dooryard and cupboards though. You can draw my blood anytime, big old nasty veins. I call it superior circulation!! And, wow, you are closer to Canada than I am!!!! We still have to travel about an hour to get there.

Erika: Yes, the foliage is gorgeous here. Just popped in the last week or so. Bummer about the beach road. I cannot believe it was raining there still this morning. We cleared up last night around 7 p.m. Sun is out and it is a great day for a run today!! Are you still planning on coming to the Applefest?

Everyone else: I guess I have to just flip you all a hi and then go back to lurking. We have tracking software for the hospital too and they allow some time away from business, but not much. You all have a great day and enjoy the fall weather where you are!!

Good Morning ladies!

What a rushing morning it has been! Last night boys fell asleep before I could get them in the shower, so This morning they had to shower which means I had to supervise, otherwise water everywhere and they would still be in it. All that exercise proved to be not great for Zac's sugar. It maintained on the walk but after the walk he jumped on the trampoline and his blood sugar plummeted all night. This morning at 1 am he was 53, gave him a juice he went to 110 good! I can sleep! Wake up at 7 check him 53! Juice and shower 107, eat and off to school! I guess I should give the RN a heads up that he may run lower today! Of course I had to deal with the whole make-up issue AGAIN this morning, I had to deal with it yesterday too! I asked her if she was heading for the run ways in Milan, Italy Or Was it Paris that she was going to?? The eye liner was so thick that it took her a good three minutes to wipe half of it off! LYZ NEED SOME WORDS OF WISDOM HERE!

So today is my day to clean MY ROOM!!! :scared1: MY room is a HUGE mess, Stephen took out all my dressers and book shelves and every thing is EVERYWHERE! PLUS he hoards laundry and then says I am out of clothes.. The man has more clothes than ME! So for him to be out of clothes is a BIG thing of laundry to do. I will attempt to finish my room today So I can work on Sam's room tomorrow and move More things over there tomorrow night. So as of Wednesday when the house is OFFICIALLY MINE! I won't have that much to move over, just the stuff that is needed on a daily Basis and I hope to have all the stuff moved in and somewhat settled LIKE MY COMPUTER by friday afternoon before I go to work. Maybe I can see if one of the girls will switch hours with me so I can work a shorter shift.

ABU & Lisa come on up Plane, train, automobile they all come here! Heck we even have a small airport by the hospital and there is a train station and bus station and we are close to the interstate! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

As for the foliage here it is beautiful. Bright REDS and YELLOWS. My mom drove out towards Malone,NY and said that the colors were Beautiful all through out the whole trip. She said that Vermont hasn't peaked yet and she said it seem really Early for the Foliage to be peaking! DOES THAT MEAN WE ARE IN FOR A HARSH WINTER.
Ok Off to go CLEAN MY ROOM YUCK!!!!

And, wow, you are closer to Canada than I am!!!! We still have to travel about an hour to get there.

I just looked on the map and if you were to drive from my house and drive EAST straight we would end up in Old town Maine?? That would be if you could drive straight! Maine does Bump up so it would be longer to get into Canada. I am about an hour south of Montreal, Quebec. Do I ever go there for the City LIFE........... NO.

Hey Everyone! Thought I'd check in early today. I officially start half training today! And I am excited about it! :woohoo: (that would be a true woo-hoo, not sarcastic) Also got on the scale this morning (first since before vacation) and am only up 1.5 pounds. And that may be water weight since I am still feeling the TOM bloatiness.

Erika I am pretty much immune to hangovers too. :woohoo: The only thing that bothers me (and that is only when I consume an excess amount, which you know, never happens;) ) are drinks with a couple different hard liquors in them and some kind of juice. Sometimes I get a smidge of a headache with wine (when I over consume), but I don't really count that as a hangover..

Thanks for your thoughts on the training plan. I am due for shoes, so I am planning on heading to the running store soon. We talked about the whole mileage thing some time ago on another thread on here, some people think it's best to not train the full amount, some think it is. :confused3 I forgot to mention in my post that I slightly adjusted the recommended mileage in the MfM plan so I'd get up to 12 miles. Easy to do if you add a week or 2 to the plan. And I've since then I have decided to do an actual 1/2 marathon as a training run, so I'll have a chance to work on hydration and refueling strategy in an actual race before disney. I know someone doing the half in january, who is only planning to go up to 3 or 4 miles. Now that is :scared1: :scared1: . (and probably dangerous, injury wise)

Stephanie You only use butterfly needles??? That's cheating! (J/K, that is what the instructors told us when they were teaching us!) I don't see what the big deal is.

sdarwkcabemanmy Have you tried dollar store PG tests yet? I got a positive when I was PG with DD 5 days before TOM was due with one of those.

Lisa So jealous that you have foliage. I love FL, but do miss the fall season.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Good morning all!!! :wave2:

I'm back from 4 days at the Big E (Eastern States Exposition..."New England's Great State Fair")....with our goats! We did well...had a lot of fun and not a lot of sleep! :rolleyes1 BUT - no real "junky fair food" either! :thumbsup2

My house has suffered what I call the "Snow Globe effect". You know, those cutesty little things that you pick up and shake and watch the fake snow stuff flutter down and land randomly....yeah. That's my house. Looks like somebody picked it up, turned it over and let the *stuff* fall where it may! :scared:

So, this morning I did an aerobic house cleaning workout! Racing around like a crazy person, vacuuming, dusting, laundry, etc, etc...

Now I have to go to work...<sigh> and grocery shopping.

 my FIL just showed up and is here trying to talk DH into buying his grandmother's house, across the street from us. :headache: Not only do we not have the $$$ at this time - (can you say COLLEGE  ) but we have no interest either. I'm channelling to DH right now..."be strong"! I'm not signing any papers on that one...;)

The one I took was an el cheapo from Wallyworld and that came back neg, so maybe I really am not PG and the nausea was just..something else entirely. Who knows? My body's so outta whack, always has been.

As for the walk today it POURED for most of the first part of the walk and then it turned into a mist! Which was kinda refreshing. The kids did good and Zac's blood sugar stayed good through out the walk. No having to stop and give him a juice and wait for 15 minutes for his blood sugar to rise. It was nice this year my SIL walked with me and the girls walked ahead of us and my mom and a couple of people from church walked together. Next year I plan on doing shirts for everyone and doing MORE! This year was tough because of the Move and all.I just hope that it doesn't rain next year. At the end of the walk just the donations that had come in from the walk was up to $17,000 and that didn't include the online donations.
I am soaked and I probably smell so I am off to shower and LAUNDRY!

Great job Steph! :yay: 5 miles in the rain is no picnic.

Hey all. Drunk. Again...not still. :)

I love fall! The crisp air, the colorful leaves...

Love it - "Snow Globe effect". I have a room - two - that so resemble that! One is halfway back from the brink. The other I close the door on! Oh, and the garage. I hate my garage! Just because the water table's about 6 inches under my house, why can't I have a basement?

So - Week 2, Day 1 C25K completed. In my New Shoes. In the yucky humidity. In heavy glasses ('cause I'm mostly blind and hate contacts and am slightly afraid of Lasik and DH is completely afraid of Lasik) that kept sliding down my face. Now my feet hurt - not sure if that's new shoes this morning or new shoes at work...But nothing earth-shattering.

Yesterday I got rained out of exercise. In the morning I was in a funk and decided to go out later. So what happens? Thunderstorms from 4pm on. I should know better by now...

Deb

Deb Do NOT be afraid of LASIK. I had it done in February and it is seriously the best thing I have done for myself next to getting myself in shape/losing weight. I am not going to lie and say that it isn't kind of surreal/weird when they actually do it, but I had 20/20 vision within a few hours of having it done. I would recommend all laser lasik, if you can get that kind done. I'd be happy to answer any questions.

Lyz had Lasik done as well and she swears by it.

Just back from a 4.5 mile run which felt great. Then did 20 minutes of core, so I am back on a good all-around training program (I focused just on running the 3 weeks leading up to the half...and then the week after was a recovery week, so now I am back to my regular schedule).

Busy day today...have to be up on campus and of course that means...the jumbotron! :scared1:

There are a lot of reasons I love Liz….these are some of them, not in any particular order.

  • She has tiaras. Not just one, but lots. And she wears them.
  • She will always “hate the cashier.”
  • She ran a 5k and raised money for breast cancer in honor of her mom. Good Person Award, totally.
  • Even though she is not going to Hell, she would go with a friend if asked.
  • She truly is the Goddess of Empowerment.
  • She has raised b*tchiness to an art form. I have found a kindred spirit!
  • She loves her initials for literary reasons. I love that!
  • She still answers the phone, even after phone stalking!
  • Liz is totally passionate. When she loves someone or something, she loves them. When she hates, look out! It is so important to live your life with passion.
  • She has the ability to simultaneously be a great listener while talking your ear off.
  • She makes friends a priority in her life, which is why people are drawn to her.
  • Beer, liquor, wine…doesn’t matter…she will drink with you. Always.
  • She is HI LAR IOUS.
  • If you are her friend, even if you act horribly, she will not judge you and will still love you. How many people can you say this about?
  • She is brilliant…really brilliant.

I wish I could have LASIK. My nearsightedness is too bad, though, and I am not a good candidate anyhow because of something (cornea thickness maybe?).

Instead, I motor on with my contacts...

Erika, you rock. Really. And I totally agree with all of the above, plus:

[*] Liz is a great mom. One who can keep her sense of self and her commitment to her husband and friends, while still being the best mom she can be. I admire that more than I can say, and I think that is and will continue to be a great example to Emily.

Okay, I had more to say, but I am having a rough day now and need to go cry somewhere for a while. Be back later.

My body hates me. ;)

Me: Ugh..I feel awful this morning.
Mother Nature: *evil cackles*
Me: What's with the cackling? What's so funny?
Mother Nature: :rolleyes1 Hmm? Oh, nothing. I was just looking at some LOLCats online.
Me: Oh..ok. *walkwalkwalk*
a half hour later
Me: *huffpuff* Need..water.
Uterus: *craaaaaaaaaaaaamp*
Me: Geeze! Ow.
Uterine commander: Prepare to eject life core on my signal, number one.
Number One: Ready and awaiting your signal, commander, sir! *salute*
Uterine commander: Engage.
Number One: Ejecting life core in three..two..one. She's away, sir. Life core successfully ejected.
Me: Man..I feel so gross and sweaty. I should go take a shower. *striiip* OH MY LORD! It looks like somebody stabbed me in the...:faint: Oh well..at least I'm not pregnant.:woohoo: :lmao:

Kat--you have my numbers...call if you need to. I am in lecture for a bit, but have some down time as well. Until then...

And I will be online tonight (AIM) around 9:30-ish.

Kat - sending hugs your way... hope the day gets better for you.... Please holler if you need anything...

Abu - from the sounds of things, you need some hugs as well.... I hope you start to feel better soon...

Can't write too much more... thanks to an issue here, but will try to be on AIM later tonight when I get home from swimming...

I will post weigh in results as well.... I am a little concerned due to two words.... Onion Rings.... I think I ate more than I should last night...:scared1: I did go right home and walked my 4 mile DVD so hopefully, that offset some of it.... Keep your fingers crossed that the scale is kind...

Paula

Just an update - need to read and get caught up...sorry for being absent but it has been a long week..

Having surgery at 6 p.m. to remove my stint - then they will be placing an epidural in..for up to 72 hours so my body can de-program itself from registering all these spasms...not sure how I feel about it...but anything needs to be better than this...

Looking to a bright future and making plans so I can have something happy to pay attention to.

How much notice would you guys need to attend a wedding in Minnesota? Would over a year be long enough? :confused3
:yay: No date in stone at all yet...but are narrowing down a few options...we have so many graduations for us between 2009-2015 that we will need to sneak in some nuptials before they drain us from all the money we do not have!

Ok - need to go read what I can - love me some Dilodid...do not love throwing up after it though...

Hope all is well...miss ya guys...
