Did I not go back far enough to find this or am I the first to post about it?

In-Room High Speed Internet Access Begins 10/1 at Coronado Springs

In-Room High Speed Internet Access begins rollout on October 1, 2003 at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. Other Walt Disney World Convention Resorts and Disney Vacation Club Resorts will be phased in through April, 2004.

Is this free or is there a charge.

I am excited if it is free.

I just called Coronado...
The in-room high speed internet access was available as of October 1st.
They said that the charge is $4.95 per hour or $9.95 per 24 hours.

Do you happen to know the proposed schedule for the other wdw properties? Just asking b/c DH is attatched at the hip to his e-mail and will have serious withdrawal if he has to go without. We'll be staying at Poly in December.

I knew free was too good to be true, but thatprice isn't bad.

This is great news. Now I'll be able to download all of my pictures and write my trip reports as soon as I get back to my room. Nothing like sitting in front of a keyboard and typing for an hour or two after spending 14 hrs in the wonderful world of Disney:faint:

$10/day is very reasonable. That is what I've paid at some other places. And that is a lot better than the $40/hr that has been floated around for the cost at the business centers.

This is what I paid at the Wyndam in Atlanta last week.

Excuse my stupidity but what's a WIFI enabled laptop? My employer provides me with a laptop but I have no idea if it has that.

Is there a way to check?:scratchin

Almost all laptops are WI FI capable. If your boss gave you a wireless interface card, you can pick up wireless signals. If you don't have one, you can buy or rent one at most wireless access points.

Just an FYI, I would be VERY careful using a WIFI card in an employer provided laptop unless they provide it or they approve it.

In my case I'm almost postive that the card would conflict with various security related softwares in my laptop, and I'm not sure how it would react with the VPN software.

Also in my case, adding a device like that into my laptop would at the least result in a good talking to, and possibly even termination.

I would ask in advance. If it won't be a problem I'm sure that one of the I/T folks would even be happy to give you some pointers :)

OK. So if I shouldn't use the WIFI, can I just plug in and use dialup? My job is mainly from home and I just plug in wherever I am...I'll be on the road for the next 2 months and I'll just be doing dialup from the condo that we are renting. I'm sure that my employer wouldn't have a problem using the laptop at Disney as long as I am working.:earsgirl:

You can use high speed with out WIFI. I don't have a WIFI card on my laptop, but the highspeed just has you connect in the network. You should probably bring your own cord, but ... it works great.

My employer uses a VPN connection to allow us to access our network securly over these connections (and we have now reached the end of my technical knowlege. LOL!)

That's what I use. I have a sprint dialup and then I go thru a VPN and THEN to explorer. I had no idea what all the steps were for...I just do what I have to so that I can get to my email. LOL.
As you can tell, I am not computer savvy. Maybe that's why I accidently suspend my vpn account all the time.

This is terrific news.

I've got both wireless, and network connections on my laptop, and I've also got a wireless equipped iPAQ pocket PC.

This thanksgiving you may see me lounging by the GF pool, surfing for interesting internet radio stations.

Life is way too good. :smooth:
