In Need of advice From You IOA/US Experts

We are Planning our return to Orlando on Feb 7-14. I am finally giving in to my DS 14 and we ill going to US/IOA for 2 days. We normally go to DW and never setfoot off the grounds until we leave for home. My question is should we stay on grounds for US or is it just as easy to stay off property? We will be there the week of Mardi Gras. How bad are the crowds at that time? Where is the best place to purchase tickets and how long should I wait to make ressies? Please help. I know Disney inside and out but I am clueless to US. Thanks !!!!!!!

We where there this year at Mardi Gras and I am glad we stayed on site the crowds where pretty busy but it was also spring break not sure of febuary RPR is the cheapest onsite resort
and FOTL is great

We visit USF last April during Mardi Gras. It was not overly crowded, but we were glad we stayed onsite for FOTL. I would think February would not be as crowded.

Will you have a car for your trip? If you don't mind driving to Universal for 2 days you would probably be ok staying at your Disney resort. It's about a 20-25 minute drive. If I didn't have a car then I would want to stay in a Universal resort. It is so convenient to be able to walk to the theme parks from your hotel. Watch for Entertainment card discounts for Universal resorts, they are a significant savings.

Personally, we love USF's resorts and would stay onsite!

Oh, I forgot to mention this! You can get pretty good deals online for Universal tickets. Right now they have the 5 day tickets for $94.95 plus tax. 2-day 2-park tickets are $99.95 plus tax.

In the past you could purchase these at Universal, but I don't know if that is still true.

AAA members can get some pretty good deals on Universal passes as well.
